Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread

Glad you guys had a great time! Always great to hear positive reviews not just of the roller coasters. Also, you are totally right about the video looking similar to the leaked layout! The first time I looked at the layout, I scratched my head and gave up trying to figure out what was going on. This video could potentially explain what is going on in the layout. -

"Say you're Pepsi, but some kid opens up a lemonade stand 16 hours away from your closest retailer and 34 hours away from your second closest retailer that's only open half the year and closed most weekdays and you go to your investors and blame that kid for a revenue drop that may or may not even be happening". Also, what the f*ck is "Gator Aid"? This comment literally just made my day... Thank you!!!!! -

That's a good point. In addition, Cedar Point has invested a lot in non-roller coaster "stuff," such as the beach, water park, and other activities. I remember my visit a few weeks ago, the park was mildly empty, while the water park was PACKED. Perhaps these types of things can account for the decline in wait times? -

Yeah, its the same here in southern Michigan, except reversed. *Everyone* knows about Cedar Point, but when I say I'm planning a trip to Canada's Wonderland, I get blank stares. -
There is no real benefit other than simplicity. If you are using the same email address on your Facebook account, for example, as you are on your TPR username, then you can just click the FB button to log in and it will log you in automatically without having to put in a password. If you use different email addresses, then no, this doesn't help at all. Hope that explains things! Yes, that makes sense! Thank you!

Awesome report! Really been loving the amount of content in these reports and the great pictures! Growing up with Lego's, I have always loved LEGO land, not for their rides, but for the amount of just COOL stuff they contain. Happy you guys found time to visit one in Japan! Also, love these new submarine rides that resemble the old 20,000 leagues ride at Disney that are popping up in Legolands.

That's interesting... I was a single rider and was given back row about a month ago. -

What I would *ASSUME* would happen is your friend would ask for a bring-a-friend ticket, and the guy in the kiosk would say "YOU SHALL NOT PASS... unless you have a passholder with you." It would here where you would hand him the pass. (That's how it usually works). However, I'm not sure it they even offer the Bring-a-friend ticket at the park. Also why even do it at the park? It's so much more convenient to do it online. EDIT: The website specifically says, "Price available online only. Must be accompanied by a valid 2018 Gold or Platinum season pass holder. Up to six (6) tickets per pass per day. Validity dates may vary." -
Curious what you mean by this... Cedar Fair already invests in Knott's yearly. Also I'm pretty sure Knott's isn't the biggest cash cow. I would leave that to Kings Island, Carowinds, Cedar Point, or Canada's Wonderland (as someone pointed out above) considering they receive "More love" from Cedar Fair (ie, Big Rides, large area updates, both more frequent than Knott's). May be wrong though. From a pure attendence stand point, Knott's is the only Cedar Fair park over 4 million visitors each year. Canada's Wonderland is second over 3.5 million. Cedar Point is approaching 3.5 million, and Kings Island is in the lower 3's. Carowinds has to be around 2.5 million. Now maybe Cedar Point has more revenue from the hotels but from a pure traffic stand point, Knott's is actually #1. Totally agree with you that Knott's has the highest attendance, but in terms of who has the biggest potential for the company at the moment, I'd put my money on KI, CP, CA, and CW.

A review of Brew and BBQ would be much appreciated! I've been trying to figure out whether or not its worth it. Short version absolutely, especially if you're a passholder or staying on property and you buy early. Thanks! I've gotten that vibe from everyone who has done it, but is there any BBQ/Beer you recommend in particular? -

Bigger plastic cup size for free water at the food places would be life changing. No more searching out a drinking fountain to get an adequate amount of water. -

There's a lot going on, and it's a lot of typing to fill you in on everything. It can all be found throughout the Canada's Wonderland Thread if you take some time to look, however if you want a more concentrated version of everything, here's some links to some videos by Amusement Insiders. If that's not enough, explore his channel... he has a lot of good updates -

If this was even remotely true... Why would CP go to the trouble of theming and naming three trains when they "allegedly" knew they'd just be using two trains. Why theme the third train if its only going to be used as part. This does not pass the logic test so it's bullshit. Ding ding ding... You hit the nail on the head. Why would they go to all the trouble of theming the three trains to the three characters and not run all 3 trains, which they did briefly on the first day until 2 bumped. The original question is complete BS. All 3 will be certified at some point or at some point 3 trains will be certified on this ride to the 3 characters. Perhaps all these problems are actually an immersive part of the theming. Steel Vengeance has been sabotaged by Maverick, and in the process Blackjack lost a foot, so he's out. Chess now is in charge of Steel Vengeance (for the most part), while Digger is away, working at the local shopping mart. I mean, they have to pay the medical bills for Blackjack somehow. Pretty soon though, the bills will be paid, so Digger can come back and work Steel Vengeance full time with Chess. Black Jack still has a screwed up foot though... it'll take him a while before he can work. -

Absolutely recommend this! Been there several times, and I personally enjoy it MUCH more than the National Air and Space museum. Less crowds, and the place is HUGE, and has an incredibly great selection of aircraft (Including the Bockscar!!) -

Yeah, yeah... it's a video, but it really does pack in a lot of new, really cool, and interesting stuff, in only 15 minutes! He gives a nice in depth coverage of everything too.
