  1. I can't and won't ever say anything that is supposed to be official. That would be best left to SFI as with the latest statement above from Debbie Nauser. What I can say is that I am aware of efforts to start draining water from the area as we speak and type. I will be going back to work to start cleanup and rebuild when we are "De Watered" as it has been commonly referred to round here. (Hint, Hint) Thats what i know at least. Like everyone else in the disaster area you need to take it one step at a time which consists of getting rid of the water, damage assessment and what can be saved, Ins adjusters, gutting and cleaning then rebuilding ect. Now, With the official statement made by Debbie Nauser, Who wants to talk about what the park might get from Astrowhirl?!?! Let the speculation continue!
  2. I'm gonna gets me some astrowhirl stuff here in SFNO!
  3. I am sure there are lots of great people that work at fairs. Of course the guy with missing teeth is interviewed and it helps perpetuate the stereotype.
  4. All he got was scrambled eggs!?!? The woman should sue the home for not getting permission before taking him out to a fair. Besides, She said herself she was surprised they did cause he can't handle heat. Once at knotts there was a special needs group. From what i was seeing I was very concerned for the groups safetey. Interesting the carnie talked to had so many missing teeth. Do they not have medical/dental plans?
  5. Use to be a park in new orleans called Pontchartrain Beach. This park had a wooden coaster called Zephyr. Megazeph was named after that coaster. Good for you that the threat of rain kept your waits minimal but also good that it didn't rain and ruin your visit!
  6. LOL!, Not a problem. But, I do work there so it would not be wierd for me to welcome a guest to the park and take a ride with a guest. Certainly you should ride...... Batman the ride which drops over jazz lake. Many say it is a little faster than most. I agree but the only other one I have ridden was at SFMM. I always pass up riding them in other parks. Megazeph which is a custom CCI wood and steel. Sit in first seat car 1 or first seat car 6. Muskrat Scrambler which is a standard maus but the trims never seem to come on therefore giving fast rides with hard laterals if your into that sort of thing. Custom Sally Dark Ride, Joccos Mardi Gras Madness. Well, It's custom. Krazey Krewe which from what I hear is unlike most models because ours rotates. Thats what I hear anyway. I am not big on knowing a lot about flat rides. (Standard name for these is The Bat?) Catwomans whip. Well, On another board there were some saying that ours had pins put in to keep the cars from flipping upsidedown but I see them flip. Not sure how that rumor was started. Shrug. Cypress plunge which is not very big but custom log ride with two drops. Warning, If riding with four to a log, The person in front will most likely get a huge amount of water dumped into thier lap! I love watching that! LOL If your into shows at all, ours were done totally in house by our entertainment staff from building the stage to coreography. If you see any of them be sure to see the two shows in the Orpheum Theatre.
  7. Sat- busy Sun- moderate Weekdays- light Let me know when your going to be at the park so I can say hi and maybe take a ride on MZ with you and friends.
  8. Awsome! I am uploading the file now. Thanks
  9. I went there and it says vid up to 10 MB. My file is a little larger than that. Matter of fact I looked at a few host free sites and they all seem to have the 10 meg limit.
  10. I made a little vid featuring Megazeph at SFNO. It is bout 5 min long. In medium quality wmv (crappy) it is 19 meg. In high quality wmv (ok) it is 67 meg. Is there anyplace on web that will host it free for others to see by streaming or for DL? or on this site!?!? Thanks
  11. SFNO! Can't hide the pride in 05!!!
  12. I'm getting some wood right now! Wish my park would get a new coaster.
  13. Benzo, The powder stuff is your friend! Guess what, You aint seen nothing yet. I also gaurantee you, a parent will curse you out very soon cause thier child is too short.
  14. Chris, Be kind, courteous and caring towards your guests. No doubt you will be frustrated or angry sometimes but don't let it show and let it go as quickly as possible. Your cash drawer should always balance to the penny! Never be over or under. Either way it can raise suspicion of theft. Ask questions and give your ideas. Keep your shop neat and rearrange shelves after guests browse through. Basically you should just be a model employee and show some leadership skills. If you do so, by the end of the season or start of next, you could get a supervisor position. The above generally would be my advice for most any department in the park. If you are a good employee with some leadership skill it is very easy to move into a supervisory position. Try to have some fun at work and interact with your guests! Good luck.
  15. As a rideop, supervisor or manager, how do you have fun with your guest? For me the all time ultimate is to be at my signature coaster at closing to have a little fun with the last trainload. If conditions are right and I can afford the time, I will give a few consecutive rerides. With each round trip the trainload of guests get more and more pumped and vocal till the third or fourth trip they are giving high fives and chanting my name all the way up the lift! I usually get back to the midway before they finish the last ride and as they are leaving and they see me they are still yelling to me and having a great time because I gave them something really special after the park closed. It is awesome to know that those guests are talking about the guy that let them reride over and over while they are driving home.
  16. For some uknown reason last year I wanted to work at an amusement park. I am still there.
  17. Megazeph @ Six Flags New Orleans. I am required to ride my rides before I open them. Can anyone say vomit! http://www.sixflagsneworleans.com/images/galpics/Picture%20059.jpg
  18. Hello Elissa, Last year, the upstop and guide rail on the 2nd turnaround was replaced with thicker (2inch) rail. this year the same was done for the first turnaround, helix and the double up leading to the helix. Makes a big difference! I don't know how it rode before 2002 since I was still in Cali. First time I rode was 2003 when the transition was happening from JL to SF. I prefer the first seat in the last car. I get lots of float and air along with some comfort there. when I sit in the middle of the train it hurts me some. It would be awesome to see you guys at the park! Well, You anyway! kidding! NOT! Good thing i don't have a boyfriend right now or I would be in so much trouble for saying that! LOL Oh yeah, Hi Rob Both you guys are SOOOO cute! Hope all is going well.
  19. To head off questions of how can it go from shorter to taller. Of course meaning big drop to short speed hills and working up as shown in the pick in this link. http://www.sixflagsneworleans.com/images/galpics/DCP_0804.JPG
  20. Generally I am not a big fan of lateral forces which Megazeph was NO DOUBT, CLEARLY designed with. After being so close to this ride for a while now I do have to give it some good credit. Six Flags New Orleans certainly has one fast and furious wooden coaster. From the time you leave the lift, Megazeph hits its top speed and for the most part just keeps going with sustained high speed. There are the two areas where it slows, one being the second turnaround and the other the double up before the trick track. From the vantage point of the station, the train comes barreling back this way off the second drop, I literally hear thunder! Some other unique aspects of this ride seems to be that instead of the usual gradual shorter drop to shorter drop , in most of the runs you go from shortest and work your way up. Then of course there is the Trick Track that CCI incorporated into Megazeph’s design in which I think there are only a few coasters today that have this such as Shivering Timbers. I believe most don’t really get how fast this ride is throughout due to the fact that it is in wide open area with nothing really close by to give the cues as to how fast you are traveling when on the train. Anyway, Just some random stuff
