Where are you seeing this? CP's season FL+ was $849 this year and not for all CF parks. Also, a quick scan of CF park websites shows the price changes from 2019 to 2020 for season FL/FL+: Cedar Point $849 to $749 (-$100) Valleyfair $225 to $150 (-$75) Michigan's Adventure $109 to $99 (-$10) Carowinds $249 to $350 (+$101) Kings Dominion $275 to $275 ($0) Kings Island $549 to $529 (-$20) ETA: Weird, it is showing up now. Might have to add that to my platinum pass!

Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread

I bought two tickets last November on a $29.99 sale. I only used one and will not be returning to Kennywood before September 15, when this ticket expires. If anybody is heading to KW soon and wants a freebie, let me know. -

Got Steel Curtain 11x today. Yeah, I splurged. Full report later this week. But wow, that thing is nuts in a very good way. Phantom's Revenge (6x) was great as well. Can't wait to take my daughter next year. Park was packed. SC was a two hour wait the whole time I was there. -

From KW Facebook: A Steel Curtain update, as we know many of you are looking for the latest: Maintenance crews, working with our partners at S & S Worldwide, are continuing work on some adjustments to the ride. Being a unique prototype ride, it's not unusual to have periodic downtime as we have seen over The Steel Curtain's first month of operations. While our team is making progress to get Steel Curtain back open as soon as possible, it will be hard to pinpoint exactly when the ride will reopen as it is a fluid situation. Please know that our primary focus throughout this process is on the safety of the ride for you, our Guests. We aim to provide the best experience possible on a visit to Kennywood, and safety is the first priority in creating that good experience. When Steel Curtain does reopen, it's also possible that it will have stoppages and periodic closures in the future. This is normal for any amusement ride, especially so given the newness, complexity and record-breaking nature of The Steel Curtain. Also, they have donated a Log Jammer vehicle to a local charity to auction off. Paging coasterbill. -
What is your next park?
hoppedup replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not sure. Gonna hit Kennywood next Monday. I'm leaving Saturday morning and plan to hit a couple of parks before Monday. CP, KI, KD, SFA, Knoebels, Dorney, Hershey, Waldameer? Who knows? Might spin a wheel to decide. -

Per Kennywood FB: Steel Curtain is not expected to open today (August 5). I am taking a four day weekend with a plan to be at Kennywood next Monday. Hope the issues are sorted by then. -

I just got this email from Carowinds regarding my platinum pass auto-renewal: Starting September 4th, your Carowinds pass(es) are scheduled to Auto-Renew for the 2020 season at the Lowest Price of the Season* - to get another full year of unbeatable fun hassle free! I see nothing in the CP e-mail above that would point to a membership program. -

If you have to get the credits, by all means do so and follow the advice above. But IMO, skip Nighthawk and Vortex and you'll be better. I skipped Firehawk at KI last year knowing that I would never get a chance to ride it again. That was based on my experiences with Nighthawk and Batwing. Vortex is the worst of the three stand-up coasters I have done. That said, some people like them both. Those people are masochists. You will probably not have big crowds on a midweek day. FL+ should be a decision made in the park. If it does get busy, buy your FL+ at a store or ride gift shop. Lines at the front gate Fast Lane counter can get ridiculous. Again, unlikely on a Wednesday or Thursday. -

Anybody watching The Boys on Amazon Prime? SPOILER ALERT!!! (not really crucial to plot line): In the Episode where The Deep (think Aquaman-ish character) gets busted down to Sandusky, Ohio, his new handler tells him that they have the biggest roller coaster park in the whole U.S. of A., Cedar Point. Later, when a girl asks him if he likes roller coasters, he says he's more of a water park guy. To which she replies, "Well Cedar Point's got both" Favorite lines from the handler: "Not much crime in Sandusky. I mean, we're not a shithole like Akron." -

^^Leader? Party? Group? I mostly travel to amusement parks with my daughter. Last summer and this summer she has had to back out of our second big coaster trip of the summer. I am bummed she won't be making the second trip. But I am going to do what I did last year, which is to go by myself. I enjoy parks a certain way that a lot of others don't, so I find that going solo or just with my like-minded daughter is the best way to travel. So you are over 40 and your stepmother is berating you for liking roller coasters? Did you get sent to your room without dinner? I am 46 and having the time of my life riding coasters. I really couldn't care less what anybody else thinks of that. -

Glad you had fun at my home park! Whaaaaat? This needs an unpopular opinion puffin! Fury is basically awesomeness from lift hill to brake run. So much air time, epic speed. Different strokes, I guess. I remember riding the flume back in the day, and when Rip Roarin' Rapids opened. I guess with a water park attached, there is less demand from GP for such rides. It looks like the water park and RRR were added in the same year. I remember riding the monorail that circled the park when I was a kid. Looks like it was removed in 1994. I concur! -

Unless I am reading it wrong the $7.00 single ride pass is only good on Black Widow, Sky Rocket, and Thunderbolt. And the website lists two of those as closed. -
Trying to plan trip to Cedar Point
hoppedup replied to klsmith's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Breakers is ideal and the best option if you'd like a break during your day. If I weren't already a platinum pass holder, I might consider it for the early entry. Cedar Point is huge. We walked 12+ miles on a recent trip. So if you aren't used to walking a lot in the heat, Breakers would be great for the rest/nap option. The early entry afforded to platinum pass holders and guests staying at a CP property is awesome. You can get at least one ride on all the best coasters with minimal lines. Wait to buy your FL+. They sell them at several merch stores in the park, so don't stand in line at the one by the front gate. If you go on weekday in late August like I did last year, you might find you can ride all the coasters (many with re-rides) in one day. If you don't stay at Breakers, or are getting early entry from the other property, or even if you are doing none of that but want to hit Maverick and Steel Vengeance first, use the entrance by Magnum. Get there early and walk around the main entrance to the right. There is a sign for the 'Boardwalk'. Walk past Breakers and hook a left. Go across the parking lot and cross the street to entrance. It is a little more than 3/4 of a mile from the front row of standard parking, so allow a little time if you use an alternate entrance. Use the marina entrance if you want to ride Valravn and Millennium Force first, or Raptor really. Use the beach entrance if you want to ride Gatekeeper or Wicked Twister first (but why would you?) I have only used the Magnum gate (Resort Entrance on CP map), so I'm not sure the other two alternate entrances are always open. We used FL+ on our one day trip a couple of weeks ago. Our longest wait for Steel Vengeance was about 15 minutes. The regular line at that time was listed at 135 minutes on the app. Currently weekdays and Sundays appear to be $85/110 for FL/FL+ and $105/155 for Saturdays. FL prices start dropping the third week of August, according to the current pricing calendar. I'll assume you are not a platinum pass holder since you've never been to a Cedar Fair park, but at CP you can buy FL+ for FL price if you are. Saved me $50 on a recent Sunday. -

We were at the park about 3 hours and The Voyage was running for about an hour during our visit, with a brief maintenance break after the first train of the day with passengers. This was about 2 1/2 weeks ago. -
I agree. Even though going by my top ten rankings like most in this thread, Carowinds would be tied with Cedar Point with 11 points. It's not a linear scale. Maverick (1) + Millennium Force (10) Fury 325 (2) + Afterburn (9)

^^If you go back a ways in this thread, it was discussed ad nauseam. Some enthusiasts doggedly insist something really big must happen next year. The level-headed people who have been at this for many years know that this is not the case. If you read enough TPR, you'll know who generally provides accurate info and/or predictions. Mostly people who have been around here since the beginning. -

I wish we had gotten in to coasters earlier. She's 17 now and it's tough getting time away with a teenager with a driver's license and their social schedule. Hopefully she keeps taking at least a week or two every year to ride coasters with her pops. Since our first trip in August 2017, my coaster count has gone from 7 to 137, and that's skipping Wild Mouse coasters and some clones. -
