  1. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Shanghai Disneyland, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. 2. cool photos Mr. Yeti thinks Yeti Ball just needs one thing... Yeti Imperial Stout! oh, and Mr. Yeti just sent Yeti Ball a myspace friend request Yeti power!
  3. Just when I thought they couldn't fit any more coasters in that park... Did they take anything out to put that there?
  4. Mine is a tie between Son of Beast and Mummy Son of Beats just wasn't that great - a couple big helixes and a loop... not to mention it was one the ruffest I've been on. Mummy just wasn't as impressive as I thought it would be. I guess I just listened to too much hype. The effects were cool and everything, so as a dark ride it was great - but as a coaster it was lame. I also thought the seating wasn't comfortable at all.
  5. I like the section on Tatsu's page that says "relationship status: swinger" Some of these profiles for rides and parks are pretty excessive. I guess some people have that much free time.
  6. ^^ ok, I didn't know the cars were self-powered. These new types of rides bring more "gray areas" to what we can call a roller coaster. I still the think half-pipe is pushing the definition. -bret
  7. well here's a question. If the Intamin half-pipes are counted as coasters, would this be counted too? -bret
  8. ^ As far as I know there just available at the Expedition Everest gift shop. I doubt they would be selling them online since the ride isn't technically open yet.
  9. Yea, the biggest problem with that is anyone who turns around can easily see it. It's not hard to spot. And considering that is a point where the train is held (waiting for the track to switch), probably half the people look around while they sit there. It just seems like the could have built up the "snow terrain" in between the staircase and the view of the train. Mr. Yeti says: "I'm not sure what you mean by "how much do I cost?" - I'm not some sort of hooker. However if you are interested in the miniature furry replicas Disney has made of myself, than $16 is your answer.
  10. "Hello, my name is Mr. Yeti (just call me Yeti) - welcome to my trip report!" "This was the line just to get into Asia around noon on Saturday (the 28th) for the pass-holder preview." "Here is just *part* of the line for Everest." "here's the drop" "These are some of the statues they have made for me:" "This one is my favorite" "That's right, biatch, beware of me." "...or else this is what might happen to you" "Look at the detail they put into the hand carvings for my shrine. Have you had a shrine like this built for you? Didn't think so." "So techincally I'm not tall enough, but since this whole ride is kinda based on me, they make an exception." "This is the train you will take." "Disney has a strict NO DANCING policy." "gotta love the train." "Lift Hill time! I can see Tower of Terror from here!" "And now we're off. Slow start at first..." "Uh-oh. Look what I did to the track!" "Time to reverse and get out of here.... yea, that guy behind me is kinda weird." "I'm being all badass and messing up more track." "Now going forward again, here is the drop." "Lots of G-force at the bottom." "Helix time!" "...still in the Helix..." "Well I'm not going to show you the end of the ride, but I'll tell you, I look pretty cool. So that's all for now. Maybe I'll see some of you in April!" - Bret "and Mr. Yeti" Pritchett
  11. Well so far they made one good modification to that ride and one bad. The new lap bars was a great change... but I really hated it when the removed the Outer Limits theming. One of my favorite parts of the queue was the Outer Limits Intro.
  12. ^ Go inside the train, you can scroll right and get a piece of paper with the combination. favorite line in the game: "The grateful monkey removes the amulet!" - Bret "why couldn't I just remove the amulet?" Pritchett
  13. I thought the effect of the ride was great. My only complaint was that I thought the video that you watched looked low budget for Disney standards. -bret
  14. ^^ Where are you downloading the game from? It says "coming soon" when I go to it. Anyone else think that is a Matterhorn Yeti roar? - Bret
  15. great detail! thanks I'm really looking forward to seeing the Yeti. I haven't seen any photos of the Yeti and I'm guessing Disney isn't putting any out. At least not for a while. Keeps up the hype and susense of seeing it in person. I'll be there on the 28th and 29th. 10 days and counting for my Expedition - Bret
  16. wow, I really need to get back on this forum more often. I didn't even know about this contest until I saw the winners announced. Congrats to everyone. Really good videos from what I've seen so far.
  17. awesome I like the seasonal pass. I don't want to go to the park when its busy, so block out dates are fine with me.
  18. I use the Sony PC350... threading for filters or lenses 3 megapixel still (MS duo) IR night shot touch LCD screen (for easy menu nav) manual focus ring side mounted flash LANC input hotshoe for mic or light only flaw is that the DV tape loads from the bottom. So when using a tripod, you have to take it off the tripod to change tapes.
  19. I just got a seasonal pass a few weeks ago. Do you think its for Annual and Seasonal passholders?
  20. I like MySpace for looking up people I haven't talked to in years and lost contact with. I got a message a few months ago from a girl I haven't seen since 7th grade. I've found about 8 people I went to highschool with and lost contact with. So yea, I think its nice for keeping up with some people. I only add people I actually know on my friends list (except for maybe Dane Cook, King Kong, and Jack Skellington). I don't see a point of adding thousands of people you don't know. The groups feature is another thing I like. Some of the people from the theatre I work at formed a group. Some of the bulletins are what we think of the movies or get-togethers that are being planned (most seem to be "DVD Scene-It" game nights.
  21. I import with Adobe Premiere and use the regular DV AVI import settings and I get 5 minutes/1gb. So it takes me about 12-13 gigs for 60 minutes. 20gb for 60 minutes seems a bit high. Unforunately I can't offer much more help. I've never looked into much of the import settings. My main advice is keep an eye out at Circuit City, Office Max, and Office Depot on their sunday ads. I've gotten some great deals! If you end up paying .25 cents per gig, than its a steal in my opinion, so I'll automitically buy one if I see a rebate that good. I got a 200gb for $50 after rebates a couple months back. Even if you pay .50 cents per gig, its not that bad. My first hard drive was a 120gb I got for $60. So currently I'm running 5 hard drives: 300gb, 200gb, 160gb, 120gb, and 40gb. So yea, 820gb of space - not far from a terabyte. Also, I would go with Western Digital. I would not advise Maxtor - I've had to replace 2 of the Maxtors I've had.
  22. yep, everyone counts them different But I would like to hear from the person who voted no. Always nice to hear different opinions on the subject of what people think as new credits (damn I feel like a dork). I count clones. I might cound a relocated coaster if I feel the surrounding has changed significantly enough. As for powered, if it has a decent drop and some gravity powered speed, I'm counting it. Fire in the Hole at Silver Dollar City startled me when it dropped - so I got kind of a "whoa - thats a credit" feeling. I count dueling but not racing. I counted Primevel twice just because I didnt' even know that there were two tracks until I got there. "Sweet! Another credit!" Bret "at #199 for the last 3 months now" Pritchett
  23. The first coaster book I ever got was "The Roller Coaster Lover’s Companion." I got it for my 9th or 10th birthday. I remember when I got it I had no idea how to pronounce his last name. My mom told me how to pronounce it and it stuck with me. I saw him once at a coaster event. He will be missed.
