Worst Ride Name
WestCoasterKing replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ It's not funny. It's dumb. And the name itself is dumb. The theme is dumb. It's just all around dumb. -
I say it doesn't reopen but they keep the tower around, sans the actual cabin because it is a Knott's landmark, even if it's not an official one, and honestly it isn't in the way of any future development. In fact I predict that the cabin will be removed soon and the new coaster will wrap around the tower. You heard it here first. Just hold either shift button down and press 6. It's the same as making an exclamation point. The level of incompetence on this thread is nearing Darien Lake's I'm an old guy. I don't do computers well. I'm not born with the technical knowledge kids have today. Give me a break. I just got my first smartphone last year for crying out loud.

^ This. I will likely never visit any park east of the Rocky Mountain states. In fact I've only been to Lagoon, Elitch, Lakeside and Cliff's once each and it's been awhile. I haven't even been to some of the others at all like Western Playland or Castle's and Coasters and probably never will. Therefore I don't have a problem watching POVs from parks I'll likely never visit. But I never watch POVs from west coast parks the only exception was Cannibal.

Pretty much in most cases if it wasn't enclosed or obscured by trees and hills I knew the layout even before the advent of YouTube (2005) just by looking at it. There were some exceptions like California Screamin' and Colossus and Psyclone where you just couldn't get a real good look at it from ground level. Thoughts on short tunnels?
WestCoasterKing replied to Samuel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me it isn't the length of the tunnels. It is the fact that you are hurtling a breakneck speed toward a hold in the ground that looks super tiny. It gives an added thrill. Tremors at Silverwood would just be another so so woodie but for the four tunnels. And Goliath at SFMM ha a super short tunnel. But when you are 255 feet up it look the size of a soccer ball. -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
WestCoasterKing replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know about HW but most water parks I've ever been to here out west won't allow any type of pants and as for shorts, no jeans material and no rivets. Also no footwear. Not even watershoes. This applies to water coasters too. You can call or email the park and ask. That's probably your best bet. -
/\ Oh good. I haven't been able to figure out the screenshot thing yet but I wanted to point out what they did last night. I watched off an on throughout the night. No tea this time. First they finished cleaning up the debris from California Sports. Then a machine worked over by the Sky Cabin but I couldn't see what it was doing because the work light was right behind it causing a glare. But now in the daylight you can see a huge pile of broken concrete so I assume it was tearing up the slab in that area. I watched for about half an hour then finally went to bed. I woke up again when the baby cried so we watched the webcam. While I slept they had removed Boom's control cabin and the entire railing from that side. You can see it lying on the ground to the left side by the palm trees. The back-hoe was digging at the ground in front of the station foundation. You can see where the dirt is disturbed because it's darker than the rest. First the back-hoe dug down to create a trench of sorts and then began pulling at what looked to be a concrete culvert. It would lift the culvert up and let it drop back down. It would do that about three or four times and then pick up a scoop of debris and dump it of to the side. Then it went back to work on the culvert. Then we went back to bed. When I awoke this morning the ground was all put back.

Worst roller coaster theme
WestCoasterKing replied to WestCoasterKing's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Regarding Hurler, I did they ever actually ride a coaster in the films? I don't remember. Buy if they did then the theme makes at least a little bit of sense. Regarding Zombie Ride, yes it opened in 2015. -
At least the train tracks give a little buffer. I've always thought they should do something to spice up the train ride along that stretch. Once it hits Western it's just fence all the up to LaPalma and then over to Supreme Scream. Maybe they could paint some frescos or murals. Or maybe somehow some dioramas. I've only been to Disneyland twice but one of my favorite rides was always the train ride through the dioramas.

Best Drop Ride!!!
WestCoasterKing replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Panic Plunge at Silverwood and any other ARM Larson, even the short carnival ones. My favorite aspect is not knowing when you are going to drop because the awning keeps you from looking up and it releases the instant it gets to the top. No stopping and waiting. And that stop. Oh my goodness!
