  11. I disagree. We really didn't hear anything that wasn't "known" before. This has been one of the worst kept secrets in theme park history. Nothing was announced that had not already been widely discussed for the last year. Sure, the concept art looks nice, and I'm sure the area will look great, based on how the other one looks. But there wasn't anything new announced here. The name is fine. It sounds like one of the books names, which is a good pattern to follow. Because they're not fans of Potter? There are people out there that have zero interest in this IP. Totally disagree with the ranking of the dark ride. There are so many better rides out there. Sure the technology is cool, but the story is horrid for anyone that's never read any Potter or seen one of the movies. Compare it to something like Spiderman, which even if you've never seen a movie or read one of the comics, the story still makes sense and you can easily follow it. There is way too much "insider" stuff on the Potter ride for it to be really enjoyable for everyone. No attraction in a theme park should ever require you to be a pre-existing fan and knowledgeable about all the backstory for it to be enjoyable for everyone. The area is well done, but again, there are some stunning things in parks around the world that are just as nice if not better, and don't rely on you having to read seven books and/or watch a number of movies to understand why they're impressive. Plus the area has a really poor layout for crowd flow, making it hard to get to the merchandise. From the artist renderings of the new area, it looks more of the same, with narrow alleys that will serve as choke points for the crowds that are going to be wanting to visit. Whether it's "accurate" to the IP or not, this is not a good idea. I applaud Universal for putting this together and making money off of it. It would be nice if they'd make the new area a bit more open and enjoyable for the non-fans, but I have my doubts. But I really haven't seen anything from this announcement that tells me that it will be anything but Pottertown in a different park. I still say they should have gone with a Game Of Thrones land. Watching a kid get tossed out of a castle window every hour would certainly draw a crowd... dt

  13. Snake Plissken would improve any attraction. Much like fire. Other than some shops, did we really learn anything new from this announcement? Seems like this whole project has been one of the worst kept secrets in theme park history. I know they'll make a lot of money from this, but I'm not seeing anything that makes me want to get back to Universal any time soon. dt

  15. ^Agreed. Crabtree was running his mouth the whole game. Another article I read said that Crabtree tried to start a fight with Sherman at a charity event, so obviously Crabtree may have some issues. I personally find the 49ers in general to be one of the most classless teams in sports. There's a lot of extra shoving and punching and mouthing off and showing off from these guys that you don't see in a lot of other NFL teams. I personally want to see people with passion for what they're doing, and it's refreshing to see someone on camera that speaks their mind and isn't rehashing the same cliched crap you hear in every interview. The guy made the play that sent his team to the Superbowl, and they beat their division rival in the process. You can't tell me he shouldn't be fired up after that. dt

  23. Leave the extra point alone and quit screwing with the game in general. If the NFL wants to re-examine anything, it's their ancient TV policy that screws fans out of seeing competitive games on a weekly basis, especially if they just happen to live near a stadium. Put all the games online already! I'll happily pay for it, if it means I don't have to watch the Redskins play terribly week after week, or suffer through another Ravens/Browns game ever again. And I thought the SF/Seattle game was among the best games of the year. Both teams played hard the whole game. I was hoping for Seattle, so I was happy with the outcome, but I will admit the 49ers played a great game, even though I"m far from a fan of that team. Hoping that the Superbowl is competitive and fun to watch. dt
