  1. So... is Roar gonna be RMC'd anytime soon?
  2. Agreed, I don't think it's Boomerang or an Intamin Impulse simply because SFDK already has those rides. It's clear from the CGA Master Plan that CF wants to really invest in this park and make it the premier park in NorCal. They've definitely got some work to do as SFDK has passed it up with all their new additions (Superman, Joker, Wonder Woman, etc). That's why I think this coaster is going to be something new (to the region at least) and unique that will make people want to visit CGA. Yeah that's their Hyper. For 2018 it will be a small coaster. Also the impulse was literally in their plans.
  3. You have got to be kidding me. Seriously. Even as a Muslim (meaning I can't eat pork) I think that is BS. How is roasting a pig (something that has been done for centuries) offensive in the slightest? Do they make other meats out in the open?
  4. I hope you'll be able to see the ride as you enter the park. You couldn't with the old Hurler.
  5. Possibly. I'd rather they save the blue for a future B&M or so. Warmer colors go better with wood.
  6. In more important news... TRACK IS NOW ON HURLER!!!! Credit goes to @mid.atlantic.thrills on Instagram.
  7. Then it's probably an impulse or a very very compact Intamin of some sort. Makes sense since they're getting a hyper coaster in the near future.
  8. Um that's not my intent. It was a joke. Stop acting offended for no reason.
  9. Roller coasters are basically physics, which is primarily math. Example: You know what "Gs" actually mean? That's how many times the acceleration due to gravity (9.81 m/s^2 or 21.94 mph) the coaster will reach. It's NOT the same as velocity. The reason you get airtime is because you're getting the opposite; negative acceleration due to gravity. One of the reasons why Skyrush is so fast despite the drop being smaller than many other hypercoasters is because the cable lift will already yield a higher amount of KE to add on to the existing drop. Conversely, of the reasons why dive coasters are always slower than hypers despite similar drops is because the amount of KE at the top is near zero thanks to the holding break. Actually not a very good explanation. You get airtime because it lets you fall with the acceleration of gravity, or pulls you down even faster. If there wasn't normally gravity, airtime would be the norm. If there were still coasters, I guess we'd rave about the ones with the most gravity. The speed of the lift has a minor effect on ride speed. Using a free fall calculator, a 10 MPH lift increases the theoretical max. speed from 77.35 MPH to 77.99 MPH, that's all*. But then, I didn't feel like there was anything faster about about Skyrush's drop than other hypers either, except being over quicker. The speed of the ride is due to to no other part going near as high so it never slows down. * I can check this for conservation of energy easily, 10^2 + 77.35^2 = 77.99^2 . Since kinetic energy varies as velocity squared, 10 MPH just isn't much energy.
  10. But in all seriousness I think the RMC will be a bit taller than mathematically estimates because they'll probably extend the base a bit, reaching a height in the 115-120 range. Still, that's tall enough to reach the skyline when you enter the park off I-95 as well as increase the speed of the ride (practically) to around 57-60 mph or so.

Please tell me you're not seriously trying to explain to me that roller coasters utilize physics, which is math??? Or questioning whether I know what "Gs" mean??? I'm just saying when I'm tooling around TPR looking for a good time enjoying my coaster hobby, figuring out math problems, no matter how significant or insignificant, is the last thing I'm looking to do! What if I told you that it's scientifically possible for a 40 mph coaster to have a more forceful launch than a 100 mph coaster?

  13. Here's a pop quiz: Can you figure out the height of RMC Hurler? The only info I will give you is that the height of the old Hurler is 83 feet, the angle of ascent on the old Hurler is 25 degrees, and the angle of ascent on RMC Hurler is 32 degrees.
  14. So what exactly are they doing with the station? Are they going to build a new one or just renovate the old one? I like the current size as you can theme it pretty substantially, but my god that metal box look needs to go pronto. Also a gift shop w/ photos would be nice for a ride of this caliber.
  15. I've heard someone say that the ride will be between 30-50 feet taller than before based on the trajectory of the lift. Should be interesting to see how the layout goes.
  16. Nah a turn too low would be pointless like the original Hurler. The overbank I drew was largely exaggerated, mostly because I was using the markup feature on my iPhone. I think an airtime pop followed by a small overbank like Wicked Cyclone would be ideal. I can also imagine a tunnel after the first drop to increase the speed a bit. I see where you are going with that. While I do not know now forceful a RMC overbank is, I know the ones on Taron can be really forceful. A tunnel would be nice, but that would not work on the plot size. It is simply not big enough for a drop, tunnel, then airtime hill, THEN overbank. There is really not enough room. What could also happen, is that you could get a double up sort of thing, but with an overbank instead of a second hill crest. Like a mini version of what is seen on New Texas Giant. I mean skip the airtime hill in lieu of the tunnel.

  18. Nope Damn. I thought Carowinds would have way more visitors than Kings Dominion from Fury 325. Regardless I think for KD the RMC is going to attract more people from the mid-Atlantic area to the park because it's the only RMC below the northeast. And Cedar Fair will be beyond 25% with RMC Mean Streak.
  19. The restaurant is in the same spot as the old one, right next to Sky Cabin, it's just a little bit bigger. Also look at Xcelerator. Stations and queues don't take up much room and can be place inside the ride footprint. And lastly as Coasterbill says you are assuming they are confined to certain boundaries. But if they are, based on the map I posted there is plenty of space for decent sized spaghetti coaster. I don't know if you are a Kennywood guy and want an RMC so badly that you ignore facts and argue nonsense or what. I'm a Knott's guy, but all of my spec has been based on stated facts, facts that Coasterbill has repeated referenced. Facts like blueprints and conference calls and name trademarks. As for the other point, S&S shuttle is not a new type of ride. It's their version of a launched looping shuttle, something Mack and Premier have been working on for years. RMC Raptor/T-Rex, however, qualifies as a new type. It may be a roller coaster but the monorail aspect makes it as revolutionary as the B&M invert once was. The S&S does not meet that standard. Now I'm not saying that Knott's is for sure getting an RMC monorail. All I am saying that there are many clues which point to that possibly being the case. Coasterbill is not stating for a fact that CGA is getting an Intamin. All he is saying is that there are many clues which point to that being a possibility. As for you there are no clues that point to an S&S at Knott's or an RMC at Kennywood or even Silverwood or any of your other predictions. There are no clues that point to an RMC at Knott's either. Meanwhile, oh wait, RMC being at Kennywood actually does point to one.
