  1. Yeah others have said it but the park does get pretty steep near the back of it. You are probably fine on time, though. Justice League is really the only ride to worry about as far as queue as its usually the longest line on any given day. You know, in the never-ending "Ninja is crap" discussion I've always been of the mind that if they were going to potentially add either a Free Spin or RMC Raptor, they'd be better off scrapping tidal wave and leaving Ninja. After seeing how kickass the Raptor looks, the Ninja spot probably is the most ideal. I'd happily say get lost for one of those bad boys - in fact, give me the sledge hammer. I wonder what the cost of one of those is compared to a Free Spin?
  2. Just purchased a set of 4 two park passes with dining passes (to do Seaworld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa) for my family beach trip the week before Memorial Day (May 21-26). We are gonna Sea World first, and then BGT a different day. I guess they changed maintenance dates? Kumba was slated to be down pretty much the whole month of May and was due to come back online May 25 (coasterbill pointed this out to me a couple months back). I see now its just down for less than 2 weeks. I'm excited about that as I was worried that I wouldn't be able to ride that coaster for my visit if it wound up taking some extra time. Anyways, thank you guys for posting a lot of recommendations these last few pages as far as places to eat and where to sit on the coasters. I have noted a bunch of it! Only 3 weeks to vacation. I'm counting down the days. I'm looking forward to Kumba the most, with Mako second.
  3. I have never even stepped foot in HH so I'll give the slide credit- it will have me visit for the first time. While waterslides/waterparks aren't really my thing, the slide does look very cool from a design standpoint. I'm sure it's wild.
  4. A recent tiger related trademark filed plus mysterious support dots show up, which follow previous RMC patterns, and folks still wanna say "I'll believe it when I see it?!" Come on, it's obviously happening.
  5. I'm a gamblin' man so I would absolutely bet that we are going to be getting the Troika next year. Hey, my kids would love that ride so that's fine, but I hope it has a little more uptime than Boomerang, yeesh. That ride seems to be closed more than it's opened. Tough times when I find myself somewhat enthused about getting a Troika. You know, if some maintenance guy at the park wanted to have a lot of fun with the internet, he could put some little spray paint dots on the supports of either Boss, Ninja or Tidal Wave, and then sit back watch the reaction.
  6. Unless Ninja goes in the tank from a reliability standpoint, I don't see them removing it. Tidal Wave would be cheaper to remove and would seem to make a lot more sense. I would guess whatever attraction goes in for next year will probably replace the Fling, though.
  7. That's typically the MO for most new Six Flags attractions, I think.
  8. Just got back from the park. Fun day. Cool vid on testing, I must’ve left before that. Namtab was nuts. It was super intense! It was crazy not being able to see what was coming, particularly the loops. Really fun experience! Something interesting to me was when we were in line to get in, there were a ton of folks giving surveys. I had nothing else to do while in line so I said sure. They asked if I had been or planned to go to Holiday World and/or Silver Dollar City this year. I said yes. They then asked the follow up- (excuse me for not remembering verbatim) could I rank the parks by which I thought were the most exciting. I said sure, SDC, HW and then SFSL last. Maybe that’s standard questioning as I don’t participate in Park surveys often while attending...but I sure hope it’s data collection for the purpose of potentially getting something big shiny and new to keep up with the jonesis! Anyways, great day at the park. You all should check out namtab before it’s gone! Also, I saw this posted. RIP Fling. I’d guess it won’t be an empty site for very long.
  9. As of right now, I'm planning on visiting tomorrow as I'm off work. Looking like the weather will actually be decent!
  10. Yeah as others have said, the weather has not been conducive to getting it up and running. I would guess Boss probably won't be up and going for at least a few more weeks given the cold and rainy weather. Sorry, man.
  11. I like looking at coaster pictures of all types, but RMC hybrids are especially pleasing. The massive wood supports and twisted yet totally smooth steel track always looks so bizarre and alien to me, like they are manipulated in photoshop via a stretch tool, yet also elegant at the same time. They look beautiful and menacing, old timey and modern, all at the same time.
  12. Thanks for the stories! So, I wonder if the "improved" Boss will be in action this weekend? It's looking pretty chilly.
  13. The post did a Six Flags article today talking about rides from years gone by. I've seen most of these in this thread before but nonetheless - http://www.stltoday.com/entertainment/arts-and-theatre/hotlist/jet-scream-momo-the-monster-mule-go-round-and-more/collection_24261912-63ba-5312-94d2-045d643af7b0.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=dlvr The legendary Mule-Go-Round makes an appearance!
  14. So I know we've all been nitpicking over the off-season but I'm really excited for the weather to turn (maybe one of these days, it actually will?) and to be able to make my first visit of the year. It's been a loooong winter.
  15. I have a bizarre streak going where I have not been able to ride Mr. Freeze in two years. It's not even that it's been closed for the entire day when I'm there, just when I decide to ride it. Closest I got was last season when I was to be in the next train...when they had a train not make it all the way back to station and had to close the ride. It's pretty comical at this point. I'm kryptonite for that ride. I show up, shit goes south.
  16. Wow, in looking up those 2 day tickets...yeah, that's gonna be the plan. Probably drive in to Orlando for a day at Sea World early in the week and then head to Busch Gardens on Friday. Hopefully weather doesn't play havoc with anything. Thanks guys!
  17. Thanks, I'll do that and just see what they offer. We have talked about visiting Orlando for a day but weren't sure on what attraction to see...a Sea World / Busch Gardens pass would for sure make that an easier decision.
  18. Wow, thanks for that info Bill. When we were originally planning our trip it was for mid June and I remember checking that maintenance page out and wasn't concerned. I had forget to look again when we moved the dates to May (wayyyyy cheaper hotel rates). We are flying out Saturday afternoon so I will push for Friday if everyone can wait that long. Kumba was one of the ones I was most excited for. Does maintenance ever end early?
  19. We just booked a trip to Clearwater the week of May 21-26 (week that leads into Memorial Weekend) and a Busch Gardens visit is one of the things we are most looking forward to. As of now we are planning to spend one of the days there. I'd assume going on a Tuesday or Weds are probably the best to visit from a crowd standpoint? Is there a certain restaurant or food stand to look out for? We've never been here but years ago my wife visited BGW and loved the "food from around the world" motif. We will have our kids with us (ages 5 and 7) so because of that, repeat rides on most of the coasters will probably be out of the question. Therefore, if there is a known spot to ride or avoid on certain ones I'd love to hear that! I've never done a dive coaster before so I'm particularly pumped to ride Sheikra! I'll be doing a full trip report of the visit so thanks in advance for the advice! (p.s. anyone know the best deal on single day tickets?)
  20. I'm also one of the folks that enjoys watching Xcalibur but doesn't want to ride because of nausea. Seems to be a lot of folks like that. Regardless, I hope it keeps ticking. With the flat ride issues, I'm thinking next year is going to for sure be some kind of addition to bolster that lineup. A giant frisbee would rock! Also, that many trailers to haul that thing makes me wonder how on earth was it ever financially viable to have it travel?!
  21. Man it looks weird like that. At least that area of track should be smooth! Removing the helix is the real world version of removing an element from your coaster in Roller Coaster Tycoon and replacing it with a simple turn to get the intensity rating down
  22. I'm one of those folks who doesn't really care about water parks so the slide does nothing for me. However, I do appreciate that it sounds like its a great addition for those that are in to Hurricane Harbor. I'm also happy that with the slide being added, the next few years will most likely see dry park additions. It's not that I dislike water parks per se, it's just that if I want to head to the pool I'll go to a local one. With young kids, a water park is just sort of a hassle. For what it's worth, I mentioned the Boss changes to several friends who, while not exactly what I'd consider enthusiasts on the level of most of us that post here, are pass holders and go with semi-regularity a few times a year and each one of them was disappointed as they enjoyed the helix.
  23. I agree with the previous poster who said it's bizarre how casual this has been. I guess advertising the shortening of a ride isn't a selling point, but again, just odd there was no PR or anything. Assuming they don't really call attention to this, I'd imagine it's going to make for some very confused riders this season, haha. edit- actually maybe not, as the queue does go by the helix. I'd think if it's totally torn down and removed that will pretty visible and apparent to anyone that's ridden before.
  24. The helix was never really an issue for me. It was a unique element, even if it wasn't the smoothest. The rattling on other sections of the track when the train got up to speed was much worse. I know others though whose stomachs and necks couldn't handle helix, so I guess we will see how it pans out. If nothing else it's going to make for an interesting first ride of the season.
  25. I would guess they will use the Catwoman moniker. In looking up videos of different Endeavors, the light show it emits is really cool and would do well to brighten up that spot.
