  1. If you are going to make the visit to the park, you may as well go on the Ninja. It will most likely be walk on and while it's rough for a steel coaster, if you can handle the Boss you can handle that just fine.
  2. Weird to see a metropolitan region that has close to 3 million people talked about like it's some po-dunk cowtown out in the plains of Kansas or something. I get it's not a darling in the Six Flags chain but to say that putting any money towards a star coaster project would just of course be a complete waste seems farcical. With the way the rebuilding of the park has been going the last few years, adding some kind of star attraction soon could really go hand in hand with putting it on the map.
  3. I think idea #1 is a good concept that in practice probably looks/sounds better on paper. I'd guess they go with #2.
  4. I would agree with you. Previous to this year the last time I had been in SFSL was 2011 and the park seems like it's in much better shape nowadays. I had a lot of fun visiting in the fall and picked up a pass for next year so I can venture out to some others in the chain. It sure would be nice if the park pulled the trigger on a signature coaster sometime soon but I'm afraid that with all the 4D coasters being brought into Six Flags that is going to be what the park gets which then probably takes it out of the running for a more substantial non-clone for quite awhile. Doing something to the Boss also has to be a priority at some point as well. Bummed about all the rumors that an RMC revamp is off the table due to being too expensive.
  5. Great write-up! I visited yesterday evening from dusk til close with a group of family and had a blast, despite the lines. American Thunder and Batman each took around 30-40 minutes. We got on Colossus and the view was fantastic with the whole park alight. I particularly liked the Candy Cane Forest. We wound up riding the Ninja several times as it was walk-on. It was a great end to 2016!
  6. Bummer that the weather looks crummy today. Was hoping to go but with the forecast my group has decided to go on Monday when the weather looks fantastic. Anyways, great to hear that the updated decorations look great. Can't wait!
  7. I went opening weekend and the place was packed. I was in the area during the second weekend of HITP and while not inside, it looked pretty well attended from the parking lot. I'd be interested to know what the employees say about it. The weather is looking much better for the scheduled operation time next weekend (currently forecasted for upper 40's and sunny) and I know a good number of people that plan on checking it out with family/friends in town for Christmas. Hopefully it allows the park to finish strong as this is a cool event and I hope it's annual! If we had an additional steel coaster that could operate in the cold it would sure help it in the future
  8. Yeah, while I wasn't planning on going this weekend I was interested to know what they'd do with the miserable weather scheduled for this weekend. Not only is going to be super cold but its supposed to snow in many parts of the area. I have holiday company that plan on visiting with me next Friday (the 23rd) so hopefully it's at least a somewhat manageable temp.
  9. Thanks for the welcome and advice on the previous pages. SF Great America and Silver Dollar City are on my hit list for sure next year! I really want to ride Outlaw Run. Cool to see pics from HITP as I had to leave just after the previous weekend. I'll be heading there again soon enough though and plan to stay all evening.
  10. Sorry to double post, I could not edit my first one since it was my first post to the forum and therefore it needed to be moderator approved so I couldn't see it. Anyways, I've read back a good portion of the pages and it would definitely seem as my friend has bum information.
  11. First post on TPR after a good while of lurking. Always been fascinated by coasters (theme park simulator games have always been my jam as well) despite being terrified to ride on them. I'm 32 and SFSL is my home park. Long story short, this year I finally decided to stop being a bitch and now coasters are my favorite thing ever (Screamin' Eagle was my first). Feels great to conquer a fear and come out on the other side wishing I hadn't wasted so much time being afraid. I have a season pass for this year and next and it's been a blast visiting throughout the fall. Next spring my wife and I are going to start venturing out to other parks as well to start our "Coaster list". Anyways, theres my introduction. I attended HITP on Saturday with my daughter and even though we didn't have very long to spend, it was really nice. Great theming throughout the park. I especially loved the fire pits which gave a nice ambiance to everything with the campfire smell. You guys aren't kidding about the Batman. That thing is hauling the mail in the cold! While I've lurked throughout the thread the past several weeks, pardon me for asking questions that have probably been gone over before but I have a friend that works construction (his company has worked in the park before) that has told me a few things he claims he's heard from people in the know. He's been known to BS a good bit before though so I take it all with a grain of sale. Are the Boomerang and the Tidal Wave getting torn down during the off-season? If so, is that where the Spinsanity is going? He also says for 2018 he's heard the Ninja is getting axed and a new coaster, probably a 4D joker, is going in its place? Any voracity to any of that? Kinda bummed if true as good lord people aren't joking about the Boss desperately needing a refurb. That thing practically concusses me and despite it having a cool layout, it's not fun because of how rough it is. Thanks, looking forward to being active on here.
