Congrats for landing HITP. You guys will love it. It was a big hit here in St. Louis and you'd be hard pressed to find someone who didn't have a great time when they visited. As Bill already said, in the event that weather is ok enough and the crowds are there, they will probably be able to bring more of the rides online temporarily. They did it several times at SFSL. Also, hopefully your B&M can be equipped with the vaunted "winter wheels"! I'm a huge fan of HITP and my family has already planned to visit ours again around Christmas. Riding in the cold with the park lit up is a great experience. If it's successful at SFNE I'd guess all parks in the chain will have it soon enough.

I love Spinsanity's paint job. It really looks like a new ride with those bright colors. Interesting to hear it's a deluxe model, hopefully that helps with capacity. If the disko isn't a maintenance hog, I'd guess this thing will probably go down as a fantastic investment for the park. I'm excited to ride it.

Thanks for the link, interesting to see, especially those drawings. Does anyone know the story behind the name, if there is a worthwhile one? It's a bit bland I suppose, but I'm a fan of it having something original versus a superhero or other notable figure tie in. For better or worse, the Boss is the Boss. Ok, this quote from that page had me LOL for real - "Here's a bit of the lift structure taken from Allentown Road. According to Denise Dinn-Larrick of CCI at the Legend walk back they had to redesign the ride several times because city of Eureka did not want the lift near the road. It seems that they are paranoid that the park will close (this is Six Flags we're talking about!) and the coaster will fall over onto the road that boarders the park." DAFUQ?

Was bored last night and spent a minute going through the early parts of this thread reading about the reaction to Evel Knieval (American Thunder) and it was pretty interesting. Really cool seeing pictures of the construction. If only this forum went back to when the Boss was announced! I was in high school then and didn't really pay attention to any kind of theme park news, but for those that did how was it received? I can only imagine what it would be like nowadays if they announced a project on the scale of that.

My wife works for Edward Jones and I'm excited that for their Founder's Day celebration (aka a massive company picnic style event) they've decided to rent out the entire park again for a half Saturday this September, as they did last fall. They've always bounced their FD event around from location to location (aka Grant's Farm, the Zoo, places like that) but it was such a hit last year that all the employees begged management to keep it at SFSL so they are doing it again. It was a lot of fun last year having zero lines for anything on a fall Saturday afternoon

Forgive me for not following the mechanical gremlins closely, but is there a specific thing that keeps causing the issue or is a just different smaller things popping up over time? I'd assume the launching system is being a PITA? -

Sucks to hear they are still having problems with it. I'll be visiting for the first time in late May and really hope I'm able to ride it at some point. Winged Eagle is pretty reliable though, correct? I'm pretty pumped about getting to ride that, so even if LR is down it won't be a total wash. -
I got sent and took a SFSL survey this evening that asked over and over again whether I preferred a Justice League or Wonder Woman theming for a new roller coaster in 2018, and a bunch of questions as to why either or. I know the park sends stuff like this out all the time, but specificity did get the old brain a churning that a Wonder Woman themed coaster would be really cool to see versus another Joker. If it's a 4D freespin the whole Lasso of Truth thing would fit it thematically well...and we all know how much Six Flags like to give identical names for rides that are completely different between parks

Sign me up for that, then. I love the Highland Fling and would go so far as to say its my favorite flat in the park (I have a feeling Spinsanity will probably take that title soon), so if and when the old girl needs to be sent to that big scrapyard in the sky I hope a newer gen version goes in its place.

I'd really love to know the park's long term plan with Ninja. If they are going to soon be adding a coaster with a small footprint like one of the 4D getups, tearing down Tidal Wave would make more sense to me versus taking down Ninja. Putting on new shoulder restraints would make that ride so much better.

If you haven't, I strongly recommend those posting in here to checkout the last few pages of the Six Flags Corporate thread. Lots of discussion and analysis of their recent shareholder call. The TL;DR version of it is that it looks like Six Flags is very happy spending what they have been spending on park updates, so expect more clones for the foreseeable future. (Bring on the 4D!) Also, with the success of Holiday in the Park adding to the bottom line, they are experimenting with a Mardi Gras event at several parks this year (not STL) as a trial. That's pretty interesting given STL has one of the biggest Mardi Gras celebrations outside of New Orleans. Late February has traditionally been super risky with bad/cold weather around here, but given how mild the temps have been the last few years maybe they'll give it a whirl if it proves successful at other parks?

Thanks for the responses all. Sadly, we cannot extend the trip by another day. We already extending it as is to visit Dollywood but at least it'll be a full day, most likely from open til close. -

Near the end of May my wife and I are taking a vacation to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina (can't wait to ride Swamp Fox!), and in the routing back home we've allowed for a full day's visit to Dollywood....on the Saturday of Memorial Weekend. Yes, I'm guessing that's probably one of the worst days we could pick to try and do the coasters but hey, it was either that or not visit and I desperately want to ride Lightning Rod! Assuming we get to the park as soon as it opens, any tricks or routes I should follow? This will be our first trip to the park.
