  1. Saw CoasterStudios SixFlags prediction video and most of it makes sense....except for St. Louis where he thinks a Raptor is a good bet to be announced this year. If not that, maybe a frisbee. Ha. Ha.Ha. HAHAHAHAHA It's troika time.
  2. Glad to see the Scrambler is back in operation. It looks nice with the TLC. I would think with it going back in place this late in the season, that it will remain there and not move to Fling's old spot. Guess we don't have to wait long to see what is going to fill that area.
  3. The way rides have been operating as of late, they'd be wise not to scrap anything that actually runs well!
  4. I would enjoy a Troika, but I hope its in good operating order. If it's sent here and spends a lot of the time down, it does no good to anyone. A lights package would also be nice.
  5. Given that it's almost certain we are going to get a small footprint flat, I really hope it's an inspired choice like a tourbillon or new enterprise w/ lights package versus just a six flags texas hand me down.
  6. I don't have much to add really other than to say that's the hardest I've laughed at a trip report in a long time. My wife actually took my phone away as I was laughing so hard so she could have a read and then cracked up herself.
  7. Yeah, for sure makes sense if you visit it twice or if you want to visit any other parks in the chain. I was in LA last week and was bummed I didn't have time to get to Magic Mountain for the first time ever. But yeah, I hope to visit SFSL sometime for frightfest both to ride the "improved" boss as well as to get our money out of it.
  8. Save for one of the weekends Batman was running backwards, I haven't been to the park at all this year. However, last year I did manage several Saturday evening visits. There was never more than a 10-15 minute wait on anything (except for Justice League). It was pretty hot on those visits last year, though. These mild temps may mean more folks head to the dry park in the evening. Only one way to find out, though. Our lack of visits this year and general "eh" feeling of the park are probably going to lead us to cancelling our passes next year. Kinda bummed about that, but if we aren't visiting, it's not worth the money. I suppose some exciting announcement could change my mind, but I'm not counting on that.
  9. The blimp pic is pretty cool and shows all that cleared out area behind the new slide. Clearly for equipment usage as it wouldn't even make sense to put stuff over there.
  10. This sounds like a rough year for the park on a lot of fronts.
  11. You know how the Boss makes you feel like you've been in a street fight? Imagine getting beaten up and then put in a centrifuge. The helix was intense.
  12. I think you are close. Rumor I've heard is that it's going to be an 87 foot tall dive coaster that's themed after Sidney Crosby.
  13. That was a great trip report you posted in the CP thread. Thanks for taking the time for the nice write-up.
  14. The food ops at this park consistently baffle me in that whether you want a bag of cotton candy or to use your food pass, it seems like there is always a 20 minute minimum wait, even if the line is super short. It's really bizarre. When I visited BGT and SWO the most shocking difference to me wasn't the coasters, it was that you could actually get something to eat quick, even for my family of 4. We do not eat at Six Flags ever because of how poorly things are run. I understand folks need training, but anytime we've absolutely needed to get food, whether it was in April or mid summer, it's always terrible. It seems like many employees are completely baffled by what to do with the food passes as well, despite this being a heavily marketed thing. I don't like to make overtly negative posts. I get no enjoyment out of it and there is enough of that on the internet, but good gosh how can food ops be so consistently bad? It costs them money! The ride-ops are are generally awesome, so it makes for even more of a contrast. Sorry for the rant, but that post above sort of set me off.
  15. Had my first visit last week and because my time was limited, I decided to buy a fast pass. It was great being able to just walk on to Mako over and over again. Granted I have not ridden anywhere near the the amount of coasters that most folks here have, having only been into the hobby for two years now, but it's easily my current favorite. Front row outside provides insane airtime and it was smooth as glass from all positions.
  16. They put those signs up pre-emptivly. Was there a line? There was a line. Was my first time at the park. Me and my wife had flash passes and hit every coaster. We went in with lower expectations and blown away by this place. We had a great time (though it was ceazy hot) Your TR post was great!
  17. Went on my Florida trip last week to both Busch Gardens Tampa and Sea World Orlando. BGT was an amazing park, Sea World was eh (Mako was freaking incredible though, outside front row on that is KILLER). Mako had me thinking about our home park, as even though the ride was absolutely top notch, the fact it's just sort of sitting out in open is fairly dull. Made me really appreciate the wooded scenery and hills back home. I can only imagine what a steel coaster zipping through the dense areas of foliage and hills would be like in the back of the park. Also, as I was enjoying the various steel rides at both parks I did find myself missing a woodie. Makes me really appreciate our collection of them. I really hope we get a Raptor though!
  18. It's really weird they can't open a water slide on time, but then again it's also odd to see many other attractions down still even though we are officially "in season". Hopefully it's up soon though.
  19. I fly in to Tampa tomorrow for a week in Clearwater and my family has our two park passes for a day at BGT and Seaworld Orlando. Since tomorrow is a travel day for us, we have Tuesday - Friday to pick two days to do one park each. Given that the weather forecast in Florida right now potentially calls for storms each day, I have a couple questions. How does the park treat rain i.e. do most rides open up fairly quickly after it clears out or are there certain attractions that sort of get put down for the count for awhile? Also, would anyone happy to know if Kumba's scheduled downtime was completed? I know it's been really rainy down there and was curious. Thanks! Can't wait to visit. Looking forward to doing trip reports on both parks.
  20. Thanks for the info a couple pages back on Falcon's Fury. Assuming I survive the ride with my wits intact I'll be sure and do our Superman Tower (finally) the next time I visit, which will probably be early June. Unrelated, but I was looking at some Six Flags St. Louis stuff on YouTube the other day and Coaster Studios "review" of Six Flags St. Louis came up, which looks like it was posted just a couple months ago. I gave it a watch. Yeesh, he brutalized it pretty good. Not saying I disagree with many of those points but damn, that makes the park look quite a bit worse than it actually is IMO.
  21. You should do Spinsanity as well if you've never done a disko. It's a good flat. edit for drop tower talk since it was brought up. I've never been on one because they scare the crap out of me. Our Superman Tower definitely looks taller thanks to the topography. That said, when traveling to Busch Gardens Tampa in two weeks I'm already trying to mentally prepare to just suck it up and do Falcon's Fury because who knows when the heck I'll ever be down there again. If my stomach drops while looking at our Superman, I don't know how the hell I'll get on that thing but I plan to give it the ol' college try.
  22. Nice write-up. I agree in that namtab was very cool to try and I'm glad I did because of the intensity, but it's definitely best as a limited time thing. I have yet to ride Boss this season and probably won't until early June as I have a Busch Gardens Tampa trip coming up in a couple weeks, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it's changed.
  23. I'd love to know the actual thru-put numbers on Ninja. Regardless of how busy a day is, it's always been walk on for me. The craziest thing is that even at holiday in the park, when the outer section is completely closed and therefore the rest of the park sees heavy foot traffic, it's still always been a station wait at the longest, as least as far as I've seen personally. And yeah HWFan, the topography of the park is one of the most defining characteristics. The way everything is layered with the attractions in the rear gradually rising in elevation gives the park a miniature-village style of appearance from the front, which is awesome.
