  1. Sweet! Thanks for the info, will definitely grab as many as I can next time. So if anyone wants one from SFMW, just let me know.
  2. I agree, can't believe they're going to waste their limited resources to bring this pile operational. So totally not worth it, one of the roughest craptacular POS's ever, total complete waste. If anything, I'd rather they spend their resources on restoring Revolution to it's former glory than on this pile. I'm all for coaster preservation and all, but this suckarse ride lacks any redeeming value whatsoever. Unless you get off on being whacked repeatably on the sides of your head by a crowbar for 1 1/2 minutes. To me the big news of this thread is that Metro is being restored!
  3. I think your thinking of the park guides Derek, which SFMW has stacks of along with the current show schedule at the info/clock tower booth located inside as soon as you enter the park. They really should hand them out at the parking booth though, alot of people miss grabbing one on the way in. Are we talking about the huge giant poster sized fold out maps that most major parks used to sell? If so, no such thing currently exist at SFMW, and never has.
  4. Yeah, all the little themed details really make it look impressive. Love the rock covered footers and the support paint scheme, very nice, thanks for the link! How's the zero-G roll compare to a B&M? Love the whipping snap roll action of early B&M's, their new forceless design like on SB where it just forcelessly rolls through the inversion without any laterals was the biggest disappointment of SB for me.
  5. Would definitely have to have a Shaft of Terror and a Tower of Power!
  6. This is pretty typical of a religious upbringing, having so much pressure and influence put on you that you sort of develop a self-hatred to justify forcing yourself to be who and what others want you to be. Very sad way to live a life, not being true to your heart, letting others decide for you, as long as THEY'RE happy huh? And all because of some book written and re-written/reinterpreted thousands of times BY MAN over thousands of years. Yeah, just forget about what you heart tells you is right for you, your life will be so much better off .
  7. Flame on! Most improved implies that it's significantly better than it was before. Can't with all honesty say that about KBF. Ridewise, Knott's has improved. Parkwise, so much of what made KBF a world class family theme park experience has been sacrificed that I just can't consider the overall additions/removals made as positive improvments. My vote goes to SFMW. Once basically just a zoo with marine animals, the park existed for 30yrs without a single mechanical ride. Since Premier/SF took over managing in 1997, they've transformed this local animal park into a full fledged major regional theme park with a decent assortment of the latest in thrill rides. Since SF never builds new parks, this is probably (at least ridewise) the closest example of what a new SF park would be like since they had to start from scratch with SFMW.
  8. If San Francisco had the room (Alcatraz?!?!?), that would be the ideal place for a homo park! It's already ghey mecca, would be a huge hit with all the local mo's and tourist alike!
  9. Oh ok, that makes sense. I was sorta hoping maybe they once and for all fixed the holding brake or something like that.
  10. V2 was testing with water dummies last Saturday. Weird, I thought they only did that with new coasters, wonder what the necessity was for that .
  11. Mammas always know hon, didn't you get that memo?
  12. ^^ Because it's no longer the same coaster as it originally was in Europe. When the drop and first 2 loops were raised, it created clearance issues that weren't there before. So it unfortunately can never run again in it's present form without OTSR's.
  13. I'm also surprised it lasted 5yrs, thought it was a terrible idea from the get go. Opening any business that targets and appeals to one and only one segement of society is never a wise business decision. I mean come on, with such a snorefest of an idea, how many $70 "Jerusalem Gold Annual Passes" could they possible have sold! Just don't see any appeal or repeat factor there whatsoever. No big for them though, I'm sure it'll just be a nice big fat write-off for the church that owns it.
  14. I can't do any photochops here at work. But I remember seeing some cartoon once (Simpsons?) where they had the Stairway to Heaven attraction, which would be a great attraction for this "park". Basically it was just a HUGE GIANT stairway that suddenly dropped off to the ground below once you reached the top. What greater attraction could a religious "theme park" offer than than an actual opportunity to meet and greet with jebus himself!
  15. V2 was built on one of the lowest sections of the park, so SFMW figured since it was still within the 150ft mark from the highest point in the park, they were ok. The City didn't agree since SFMW also has zoned sections as to how high any ride can be in any given section, and the original ride far exceeded the height restriction for the zone it was built on. I also much preferred the original, and I agree with PortugePunk, that flat stall section is such a huge dead spot on the ride, really ruins the pacing. There's so much more they could have done with V2 instead of just a fix. I'm not 100% certain, but my understanding of the height restriction is due to the neighboring houses, mainly the expensive houses on the hilltop above Lake Chabot. The homeowners claim that any tall structures would ruin their lakeview, and I recall hearing in the news about them bitching about V2 ruining their view. So I believe this is the actual reason for the height restriction since the tiny airport way out in Napa or the now closed nearby Naval base shouldn't even be an issue.
  16. The Bay Area ownz!!! Yeah our 4 parks aren't the biggest or best, but try to find a more stunning jaw dropping beautiful place than Northern California. And the SoCal coasters are only 5hrs away! As far as quality coasters go though, I'd have to give it to the East, which is nice to visit for the coasters, but you couldn't pay me any amount of money to live in that miserable summer humidity and bone chilling cold winters . As far as quantity goes, not really a fair assessment since Oregon and Washington don't really have any major parks or even many small parks for that matter. But there's no argument that Cali has far and away the most coasters than anyplace on the planet, not even Ohio or Pennsylvania comes anywhere close: http://www.rcdb.com/census.htm?location=59
  17. Aren't chicks in general not much into coaster geekdom? Seems to always be a low count on every board, whereas us homosensuals take to coasters like fish to water .
  18. It was when it ran in Europe . Latest rumours say it's only kept in running condition so it can be sold: http://www.screamscape.com/html/six_flags_marine_world.htm
  19. From the concept art, looks like it'll load on the lower point between the hill and reverse spike: http://norcalcoasters.net/community/viewtopic.php?p=2464
  20. Likewise, didn't mean for it to sound like a flame, sorry. I do have to admit I much prefer to deal with the out of control strollers and slow moving grandmas than out of control teens and gangs, so the past few seasons have indeed been nice. Would be sweet to see someone like Busch take over managing the park when SF's contract expires, they seem to "get it" when it comes to intergrating world class thrills without sacrificing the quality family park experience.
  21. Cept for the fact that i know someone that works for the park and the park has been told NO COASTERS by corporate. Just cause you only want a coaster doesn't mean it's all there is to get. We can get a cheap flat ride that will draw just as much people as a coaster would. and they are cheaper. but thanks for the cocky "i know everything about running a park" reply. Cept for the fact that SFMW isn't owned by SF, and therefore isn't responsible for reducing SF enormous debt, which is why you won't be seeing any new Goliaths at SF owned parks. The circumstances at The City of Vallejo owned SFMW are quite different from the SF owned parks, so a generalized companywide statement doesn't necessarily apply to SFMW. Also, SF's management contract with SFMW expires next year, at which point they can either buy the park (not likely with their debt), renew the contract, or The City can take back operations themselves as they did pre-Premier. Or hire another company to manage the park. So to say there will never be a new coaster at SFMW is shortsighted. But thanks anyway for your cocky "my friend works at the Dippin Dots stand so I know everything about the park's future plans" reply.
  22. haha, recall a certain article about Mark Shapiro's visit to SFoG? He stated that you will NOT be seeing ANY major roller coasters added to ANY Six Flags park anytime soon. So even if Zonga leaves... You won't see a new coaster replacing it, unless it is a little family coaster. We have entered an era of family theme parks... not thrills. I interpret this as being for the SF parks that already have 12 coasters along with nothing but thrill rides that will need to refocus on amping up their family offerings to appeal to all different age groups. SFMW is the one SF park that already has a solid lineup of what every SF park will now be focusing on adding for the next several years. They've already got more shows than probably all the SF parks combined, along with dozens of family attractions and exhibits that appeal to every age group. And will continue to introduce as they always have new critters and interactive exhibits for the families, that will absolutely not change. So with so many offering for families already established and a major coaster leaving, what's left for them to add? Yep, new thrills!
  23. Just my opinion, but I don't consider building 1/4 of a waterpark a major addition. Then boasting the next year about increasing the size to 1/2 of a waterpark with 2 old second hand slides and kiddie wading pools a major addition either. In my book, those additions are equivilant to adding a flat ride, something new, but not exactly a MAJOR addition or experience, coaster or otherwise. Doesn't have to be a coaster, just ANYTHING that last longer than 30 seconds would be a refreshing change for PGA. Yeah I know my opinion doesn't mean anything, but my point was that someone else was pointing out that SFMW hasn't added anything major to the park in 6 years. And I was just pointing out what little PGA has accomplished IMO in the same amount of time beginning when SFMW started adding rides. I know PGA fanboys will never agree, but a side by side comparison clearly demonstrates which park has brought the biggest and best new rides to the Bay Area. (BTW, MW has always had a heavy family oriented emphasis since opening in 1968).
