  1. July 2020 Almost 15 years has passed since Six Flags Cypress Adventures has shut its doors and got torn down. The land the park used to sit on has been converted into a local park, and there are actually quite a handful of things from Six Flags that are still standing on the property. Here is the visit to Six Flags Cypress Adventures 15 years later. The original park entrance is still standing. Six Flags Cypress Adventures is now "Cypress Park" This entrance area remained untouched during demolition. Its now hard to believe that this view used to have several roller coasters and rides Some of the queues were redone into picnic canopies. This used to be Gunslinger's queue Rodeo's former queue is also still standing The only structure that remained unchanged after demolition is this eating area, which is still operational. Cypress Plunge's station was repurposed into bathrooms This view used to have a log flume drop in it. Also its interesting that the water wheel is still standing by the station building Bugs Bunny Fort Fun playground from the Looney Tunes town is still here. It was relocated to the former Acrophobia spot. Its now time to leave this park behind us once and for all. Six Flags Cypress Adventures held many memories for locals of Chattanooga, and it was a sad day when it closed for good. Thank you everyone for following this storyline of Six Flags Cypress Adventures. I enjoyed this park a lot and I hope you all did too!
  2. April 9th, 2006 After over 5 months of demolition, the last structure to come down is Excalibur. It hasn't been touched since demolition started up until this part. The date that Six Flags Cypress Adventures officially died is April 9th, 2006. A few months later, this plan from 2005 was leaked out. It shows Studio Splash Effect removed and replaced with a hyper like rumored: It turns out Six Flags actually was planning to build a hyper, but following the decision to close the park, Six Flags sent the hyper to La Ronde instead since it was already being manufactured. This caused an outrage among fans of Six Flags Cypress Adventures. The fate of all the rides at Six Flags Cypress Adventures are as listed: Gunslinger: Relocated to new Asia park Rodeo: Relocated to new Asia park Runaway Express: Scrapped Cypress Plunge: Scrapped, logs sent to various Six Flags parks Twister: Relocated to Six Flags Marine World, never rebuilt, eventually scrapped Acrophobia: Relocated to new Asia park Superman Ultimate Flight: Relocated to new Asia park Looney Tunes town rides: Some relocated to some Six Flags parks and independent parks Road Runner Express: Relocated to new Asia park Thunder Racers: Scrapped, Karts sent to Six Flags St Louis Batman the Ride: Relocated to new Asia park Joker's Spinsanity: Scrapped Viper: Relocated to new Asia park Buzzsaw: Relocated to Six Flags Great Adventure for spare parts Tidal Wave: Relocated to independent park, still in storage The Last Stand: Scrapped. Parts sent to La Ronde Breakdance: Relocated to new Asia park Pirate ship: Scrapped Looping Starship: Relocated to new Asia park Studio Splash Effect: Scrapped Joust: Relocated to new Asia park Runaway Mountain: Relocated to new Asia park Excalibur: Scrapped, Trains sent to Six Flags Great America to use on Viper
  3. Thats really sick! I'm hoping I might make it out to this park this summer and ride Jersey Devil!
  4. December 3rd, 2005 Its been nearly a month since the park closed its doors and demolition began the very next day. Everyone was invited to enter Six Flags Cypress Adventures one last time for the auction they are hosting to sell off park elements. Never thought I would go through this entrance again NOOOOOOO!!!! NOT THE LAST STAND!!!! Taz Twisters is already gone. Its space is being used for the auction. I really want this one. Its the original park entrance sign! More signs The real main attraction of the auction is one of the original Excalibur trains. One was already donated to the National Roller Coaster Museum. They held separate auctions for each car in this train. I heard that the front car sold to a very dedicated fan for over $10,500!! Again, more signs There was a wall blocking off areas that they didn't want people accessing during the auction WARNING! THE FOLLOWING PHOTOS ARE PARK DEMOLITION PHOTOS! CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I got special permission to tour the demolition of the park. As you can see, Joe's Tavern is already gone. Runaway Mountain's track is already removed. Studio Splash Effect is getting scrapped. Looping Starship still standing. I was actually told that a new park somewhere in asia purchased quite a handful of rides from this park. I wasn't told which ones though... Caribbean Port's structures being demolished. Breakdance is gone and Tidal Wave is missing its spike. The Last Stand being taken down Buzzsaw is gone already too. Viper is still standing... I was hoping this ride was scrapped. Oh well... Joker's Spinsanity was apparently scrapped. Batman The Ride is being taken apart. Pretty clear its being relocated. Cypress Plunge missing its final drop Rodeo is still here Same with Gunslinger Runaway Express is being scrapped. I was actually allowed to walk around the track (what was standing still) Pretty cool that I was allowed to climb the lift! View from the top Final drop missing... Helix The track after the 2nd lift is missing. That's actually all that I saw for this report. After the Runaway Express tour, I was told my tour time is up and I left the park for the last time. Not before I snagged the original Cypress Adventures sign for $160!
  5. Sunday, November 6th, 2005 Six Flags Cypress Adventures last day Hi! My name is Tyler. I've been going to this park since it opened and its very sad to see such a good park go. This is a trip report from the last day ever for Six Flags Cypress Adventures. On my way into the parking lot, there were a lot of people protesting the park's closure. Hi Six Flags Cypress Adventures! Its impossible to not take this picture. Its such a good shot Heading towards Looney Tunes Town Bugs Bunny Fort Fun and Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters First ride of today, Road Runner Express! You gotta start somewhere Last picture of Looney Tunes Town The Last Stand through the trees The Castle area Excalibur's line is extremely long so I think I'll try to catch it last. Runaway Mountain's queue is full of people wanting to ride it one last time. I wish that B&M Hyper rumor was real and was replacing this ride instead of tearing the park down... Pirate Ship with Tidal Wave photobombing I spy my next ride The Last Stand just reopened from a breakdown so I took advantage of the short line. Good thing I did because the queue was full just 30 minutes later. Waiting in line for Tidal Wave now... Up next: Viper Its a standard vekoma boomerang coaster, so this won't be missed as much as the other coasters. Gotham City with Batman the Ride in the background Buzzsaw Cypress Plunge. I actually decided to skip this in favor of Twister. I will miss this view Acrophobia carrying riders up Acrophobia dropping riders Superman isn't even that old. Its a really fun ride Superman is also massive up close Cypress Plunge station and entrance Runaway Express is the original opening day coaster for Cypress Adventures way before Six Flags brought the park. The park's trokia: Rodeo I really like the moon in the background of Gunslinger The sunset is beautiful tonight Time to try to catch my last ride ever: Excalibur Everyone else has the same idea. I actually was extremely lucky to get in line just before the queue closed. I'm actually one of the very last people to ride Excalibur! Second to last train of riders on Excalibur Off they go! Hope they enjoyed their last ride ever on Excalibur! Last ride ever on Excalibur! I had a lot of fun on Excalibur. I actually wished the ride would never end. But it did sadly. At this point, Six Flags Cypress Adventures is now closed. For good. I wish I could.... Goodbye Six Flags Cypress Adventures! Thanks for 27 years of memories and fun!
  6. 2005 Fans of Six Flags Cypress Adventures were excitingly waiting for Six Flags to announce what was to come in 2006, with the rumor of a B&M Hyper. Around the end of summer, Six Flags made an announcement, but it was an announcement that no one was expecting and caught everyone off guard. On September 12th, Six Flags announced that at the end of the 2005 season, they were going to close and demolish two of their properties: Six Flags AstroWorld and Six Flags Cypress Adventures. The last day for Six Flags Cypress Adventures is Sunday, November 6th, 2005. Multiple reasons were given for the closure and demolition of the park, such as attendance being at an all time low for the past 3 years, and the park was in a bad location. Guests have to travel around the mountains to get from the city of Chattanooga to Six Flags. Fans of Six Flags Cypress Adventures were absolutely devastated at the news. Some were denying that the park would close, some started to go to the park as much as possible to document every detail of the park with videos and pictures, and some started protesting the closure and demolition around the parking lot entrance.
  7. (Six Flags Cypress Adventures in the year 2004 is now up on the workshop! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1989607625 ) 2003/2004/2005 2003 was another off year for Six Flags Cypress Adventures with no new additions, just minor updates around the park like fresh paint on buildings and a new park entrance sign featuring the up to date Six Flags logo At the end of the 2003 season, the least popular ride at the park, The Grand Wheel, closed. Six Flags teased that 2004 was going to bring a new ride type never seen before at any other park. Six Flags introduced their 2004 addition as Superman: Ultimate Flight, which is an S&S Screamin Swing, an all new flat ride type. Superman was a hit with thrillseekers throughout the 2004 and 2005 season. In 2005, once again, Six Flags did not add anything to the park, but among park fans, rumors were stirring up. According to rumors, Six Flags was planning to remove Studio Splash Effect to make way for an all new B&M Hyper coaster for 2006.
  8. 2000/2001/2002 Entering the new millennium, Six Flags didn't add anything to Cypress Adventures, the only change to the park happened towards the end of the 2000 season, where they chose to close and scrap Skyrama, the park's observation tower. At the start of the 2001 season, a new tower took place of the former Skyrama spot. Six Flags installed an Intamin gyro drop tower, called Acrophobia similar to Six Flags Over Georgia's new drop tower. The only difference between the Tennessee and Georgia version is that the Tennessee version has regular seats while the Georgia one has stand up seats. For the 2002 season, Six Flags expanded the Looney Tunes town section with 2 new rides. Elmer Fludd's Weather Balloons Speedy Gonzales Another change for the 2002 season is that Batman the Ride received a new color scheme. Instead of being completely black, Batman the Ride now sports blue track and black supports.
  9. 1998/1999 For 1998, Six Flags added an indoor coaster called Runaway Mountain and installed it by where the carousel used to be, but they took out the carousel to make way for the entrance and exit of the ride. They made the queue area more scenic with the addition of a pond Six Flags purchased a Pinfari Mini Mighty model for Runaway Mountain, as the layout shows here For the 1999 season, Six Flags introduced an upcharge attraction, Thunder Racers go karts.
  10. 1995/96/97 Octopus was sold to another park during the off season and in its spot, Six Flags added the popular Intamin looping starship ride creatively called Looping Starship. Since Six Flags built the Looping Starship right in the middle of the Caribbean Port area, Six Flags (lazily) merged the Castle, Caribbean Port, Gotham City, and the area in between into one area and decided to call it "Studio Backlot" to stop the complaint about mismatched themeing. To enhance the "studio" theme, Splash Water Falls was renamed "Studio Splash Effect" And the station was themed to look like a studio warehouse. Flashing forward to 1996... Six Flags added a HUSS Top Spin called "Buzzsaw" To adding onto the "studio" theme that the area supposedly has, Six Flags built a Studio Shop and a McDonalds near The Last Stand and Tidal Wave Fast Forward to 1997, Nothing new was added to the park, but at the end of the season, Six Flags announced that they're removing the carousel by Excalibur's entrance and replacing it with a new ride for the 1998 season. Land clearing was spotted before the season ended
  11. 1994 Nothing new was added for the 1993 season. The only thing that happened in 1993 was the construction for a new land started. The land was announced as Gotham City with 2 new rides: A clone of the popular Batman the Ride and a flat ride called Joker's Spinsanity. Overview of the all new Gotham City section of Six Flags Entrance to the land Joker's Spinsanity. The queue goes through the Axis Chemical Plant where Joker became Joker Batman the Ride's entrance. This B&M became one of the most popular coasters in the park, just behind Excalibur and The Last Stand Signature crashed police car in the queue 1994 also marked the end of Octopus for good this time. A new flat ride will be replacing it in 1995
  12. 1991/92 After a successful season with the opening of Tidal Wave, Six Flags took a break for the 1991 season with the addition of a flat ride and general park improvements. A generic flat ride: Breakdance was added near Tidal Wave. It became very popular among families. The most significant change to the park during the 1991 season was the removal of the iconic trick track section on Excalibur. Fans of the coaster were upset at the change, but they still agreed that Excalibur was still a great coaster without it. The 1991 season came to a close with an announcement that the park was getting a Vekoma boomerang called Viper for the 1992 season. Viper opened memorial day weekend in 1992 Enthusiasts did not like Viper due to its roughness, but despite that, Viper was a popular addition. (Heres a bonus overhead shot of Six Flags Cypress Adventures in the 1992 season)
  13. 1990 As popular as Z-Force was, it only lasted one season. As part of the ride rotation program, it was relocated to Six Flags over Georgia under the same name. In its place, Six Flags ordered a new Schwarzkopf shuttle loop called Tidal Wave which is the park's first launched coaster. Tidal Wave fits perfectly in that spot! Is the train travelling forwards or backwards? Despite the popularity of Tidal Wave, its next door neighbor, The Last Stand, did not lose any popularity. Also as a bonus, Six Flags decided to repaint Twister to brighter colors to give it a fresh, non outdated look.
  14. Tidal Wave - I knew it was gonna happen soon. I wonder what will take its spot. Raptor maybe? Carousel - WOOHOO!! FINALLY!! BEEN WAITING FOR THAT DAY IT STARTED
  15. I can't wait for day 2! Some highlights for me is the Iron Gwazi car, garfield animatronics going to Six Flags China, and the full version of Axis. I seriously hope a park buys Axis for 2021!
  16. While that's a nice view, the back of my mind is saying nope to high time to get down. What do you usually do maintenance on that high up? Are we ever going to get the lights at the top working right on Skyscreamer? I was up there for testing purposes but it gets ridden up every day for inspections. Plans are some updates to the lighting this offseason. If we get LED lights on SkyScreamer like it did back in 2011/2012, that would be the best update in the entirety of 2020
  17. I found footage on youtube of SFStL's nighttime laser and firework show: Batman Nights. I think its cool that this park had something like this at one point. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  18. ^^ I knew this would happen, but it still would be nice for Dorney and Michigans Adventure to run as a Six Flags park imo
  19. This is a bit extreme for Six Flags to get their hands on more arrow parts from vortex
  20. Nice to see Six Flags caring about how much the first B&M means to the company!
  21. 1989 As part of the ride rotation program, Six Flags introduced an "all new" coaster Z-Force for just 1 year only. It was rumored that a Schwarzkopf looping coaster would be built, but instead it turned out to be the unique Intamin Space Diver coaster. Here's the limited time only Z-Force coaster The first riders ever on Z-Force, Six Flags is experimenting with the train colors as you can see here. The Space Diver structure is pretty compact. Z-Force may be popular, but it looks like the neighboring Intamin coaster, The Last Stand, is still more popular (On a side note, I am no longer doing the trip report style updates because I feel like its getting too repetitive.)
