  1. I was planning to go to the park the weekend of September 8th, but the calendar says the park is closed that entire weekend. Does anyone know why?
  2. That back car of one of the IRat trains wasn't operational when I went in April. That stinks that it hasn't been fixed yet.
  3. Also near Lake Compounce and Quassy is Leo's, a great breakfast spot. They have the best pancakes I have ever had, and that says something!
  4. I would recommend going to Lake Compounce and Quassy instead of Playland. Although its historical aspect is interesting, the park is sadly run down, and the majority of the rides are mediocre. LC and Quassy are much nicer, and Boulder Dash and Wooden Warrior are fantastic rides. There are efforts to help renovate playland, and plans were revealed last year that detailed a significant flat expansion for 2019, including a unicoaster and chance revolution. For now, however, the park is not worth the 30 dollar admission.
  5. Thrillseeker4552 is right haha. Sometimes I forget not everyone’s from the northeast and knows those abbreviations
  6. I'll be at LC on the 20th for my first visit of the season. I need my BD fill
  7. Great report! The event really was amazing last year, and it exceeded every expectation I had. Think about what HQSS will be like this year! Also, Tomahawk did the same thing to me on the first day of HITP. Weird...
  8. Stuff I've already done this year (all first time): Alpine Coaster in Park City, Utah Luna Park SFFT SWSA Confirmed: LC Quassy TGE (First time) SFGAdv Rye Playland Hershey (First time) Not confirmed: Orlando Parks: SWO, BGT, Funspots, MK (would be first time at everything except MK) Luna Park again SFNE Casino Pier (would be first time)
  9. I thought I'd bump this thread to add to a few notes about the New England region. Stewart Amusements is getting a new ARM Vertigo swing ride in June that looks like a ton of fun; it's a smaller version of the one found at Cliff's Amusement Park in New Mexico. There's also a company that's not listed for CT that has a bunch of REALLY RARE flat rides. They're called Rainbow Amusements, and they actually don't have a website lol. They have a Scat, Venture Cobra, Roll-O-Plane, Dartron Hurricane (similar to Downdraft at Knoebels but with floors), and a Wisdom Sizzler, which is basically a scrambler on crack. Because they don't have a website you don't really know where they're going to be, but I know they're at a fair in Greenwich on the 19th and 20th, and there's a fair in November in New Canaan that they did last year. If you do happen to catch them it's a real treat.
  10. I had an awesome day at the park too. It wasn’t horribly crowded, and the weather turned out nice toward the end of the day. IRat was amazing, and is my new number 3. I was also able to make Poltergest my 100th cred! Overall I had a blast at the park and hopefully I can get back soon!
  11. You will love it for sure. I went last year for the first time and had a ball. I'll be in San Antonio in less than two weeks!! Praying that WWGLC is open!!
  12. Thanks for noticing that! I guess then no switchback for me My 2cents: I'd say "yes" WW will be open by then. .they really seem to be doing their damnedest to get it open in March. Fiesta Texas coasters affected by wind gusts (ie: they will shut them down): Iron Rattler, and Poltergeist. often, if they are closed in the morning, they *will* eventually open up by end of day. . since Fiesta is in a Quarry, it does sometimes get really windy in the park, even if it's not too windy a day. When we were there 2 weeks ago, both IR and Poltergeist were shut down, while Scream (drop tower) and Skyscreamer were both operating. . . .so if those are running? keep fingers crossed the two coasters will open. When you enter park, go to right after main plaza (*MANY* folks will go immediately to the left for Goliath at opening.. and it's a good coaster (Batman clone). . but we always save that for end of day). By going right, you'll pass the waterpark (which won't be open yet) and come to back-to-back Roadrunner Express and Iron Rattler. I've found that many folks mistake the entrance for Roadrunner as the entrance to IR .. no, I can't explain it. . it clearly says "Roadrunner Express" over the entrance.. but once you see that, Iron Rattler entrance is literally 20 steps further ahead on the right. the two water rides in the park will get you wet. Gully Washer (the rapids) will get you soaked. and on a hot day, the line will be long for it, but it moves rather quickly most times. Bugs Bunny Rapids (the flume) will get you wet not from splashing (tho you'll get spritzed), but from the water that sloshes over the sides of the log several times thruout the ride. . so keep your phone out of your back pocket! Don't Miss rides (in my opinion): Superman Krypton Coaster (Floorless with unique setting), Bugs Bunny Rapids (flume with unique layout), Iron Rattler (of course), Poltergeist (my favorite coaster in the park), and Wonder Woman. very good and worth a ride: Pandemonium (Spinning coaster with a good setting and some airtime last time we rode it), Hustler (pool ball themed spinning teacups like ride), Goliath (Batman clone), Batman (S&S Freespin), Roadrunner Express (unique setting, and pretty fast terrain coaster), Skyscreamer (the setting right up against the canyon wall makes it feel much higher than it is). but really, most everything at Fiesta is decent, and even stuff like the Scream drop tower, while not "exciting" is still fun. tho I'd skip "Boomerang: Coast to Coaster". . LOL hope this helps! (oh, and as to food?. . it's typical Six Flags food, but in Sangerfest Hall, at least there are a lot of options, and we DO like "Kickin Chicken" (strips/waffle fries), that's over by Roadrunner Express. Not big BarbQue fans, but the place by the Waterpark entrance always does seem busy.. so there's that. Thanks for all the info! One thing that I do have are 5 one-time use flashpasses courtesy of ACE for use on WWGLC, IRat, Superman, Batman, and Poltergeist. That will hopefully help with the lines. It's the beginning of april when I go, so I don't think the lines will be horrible. I'm also doing aquatica the same day, so I definitely won't run out of stuff to do! Thanks for the help everyone!!
  13. Jeez, I haven't been online here in forever... Anyways, I'm going down to San Antonio in about 3 weeks. I'm hitting up SWSA on the 7th, SFFT on the 8th, and possibly ZDTs on the 9th. What are some general tips for the parks? Also, will WWGLC probably be open by the time I go? Thanks!
  14. In that case, I'll go to Knoebels. Thanks for the suggestion.
  15. I could, but it would be close to an extra hour from my house... I'll see if I feel up for it.
  16. Hi all, I am thinking of visiting either Dorney or Luna Park on Thursday, June 23. Which one should I go to? Thanks.
  17. I will be headed to the park tomorrow! I am excited to finally ride Reverse Time
  18. Screamscape has just reported that Wild Waves in Washington has just posted a teaser saying that something big is coming soon. The graphics look like some sort of a drop tower. Do you think this could be the space shot from Magic Springs?
