  1. Wait they're running one train on Volcano during the summer season? Holy crap we all need to start a Plinko / Fastlane savings account. They were for most of the day yesterday but at the very end they all of a sudden decided to run 2.
  2. I need to have proof that there is land clearing behind the Intimidator, I'll check that out myself during my next visit. My bet is still on the Shockwave plot and surrounding trees (adjacent to the Eiffel Tower walkway) being used for the 2016 attraction. However, Kings Dominion does have a lot of land back there, and I would not be surprised to see a 2017 attraction/roller coaster be the first to cash in on this untapped acreage. If the Intimidator is truly being renamed/rethemed, they might retheme it to an extraterrestrial theme to match the Flight of Fear (or retheme both coasters) and then a 2017 attraction behind it could expand upon this "Area 51" or other themed land concept. Here's a bold prediction: If a new coaster is truly being built behind Intimidator, then what will go on Shockwave's land is a DINING HALL. Why? Because Cedar Fair is keen on upgrading the food at their parks, as evidenced by Carowinds. Also, maybe a slingshot could go near it.
  3. I'm really hoping it's something that will deliver on the airtime that KD sorely misses.
  4. Shockwave is now officially a defunct coaster.
  5. I LOVE Dive coasters (rode Griffon), but I'm disappointed by the layout of Valravn, if this leak is real. I think it's going to be a thrilling coaster, but it's not going to be a stand out attraction like the rest of Cedar Point's lineup.
  6. Or it could be a really fantastic flat ride. BTW this business of only running one train on Volcano is ridiculous.
  7. I rode Rebel Yell yesterday and it was brutal. Does anybody else find Flight of Fear really rough? Rebel Yell is only rough in the turnaround IMO.
  8. Does anyone black out more on Backlot than I305? Because I sure did.
  9. Rebel Yell is insane in the back. I will never forgive Kings Dominion if they take it down.
  10. Damn. Dominator's more forceful than I remember.
  11. Just got off of my last ride on Shockwave. Piece of sh*t.
  12. Also surprisingly, Cedar Fair's theming is miles better than Paramount's theming.
  13. I don't want them to copy Cedar Point or Carowinds. It needs to be unique to the park. Well they don't have to copy them but they're overdue for a new entrance as well. But I think kd needs to step up their game because carowinds seems to be getting all the attention now that they have fury and since they're the "cedar point" of the southeast. i'm surprised kd haven't lost most of their attendants. Hopefully this will change by 2020. KD is a much nicer park though. Carowinds is kind of dirty, their operations aren't very good, and there' s no theming whatsoever.

  15. Just something I've noticed: Is it me or is Volcano's launch a lot less intense in the front than it is further back? It probably has to do with knowing exactly when it's going to launch (the last block before the platform).
  16. RMC Hurler/Grizzly would be pretty close. Do you really think there's any chance of that happening? Possibly.
  17. And their putting Son of Beast's topper track on it.
  18. RMC Hurler/Grizzly would be pretty close.
  19. I meant it in a sense that KD should get an RMC even though they have a good coaster lineup. And no, I haven't ridden an RMC yet but I'm trying to go to Dollywood next year to ride Lightning Rod. But I do have to say that the treatment shouldn't go to really good wooden coasters. Rides like The Beast or El Toro wouldn't be the same with it.
  20. I dunno. Colossus at SFMM was also considered a "classic". To six flags no. But were talking about a Cedar Fair park. You may not get a RMC, but you get a clean park, nice atmosphere, and great operations. You KD guys are spoiled. You have a nice park. Appreciate it. It could be Daren Lake or the Great Escape Yeah but an RMC would make it even nicer. But I do have to agree that Kings Dominion is definitely one of the nicer Cedar Fair parks. I think ultimately it's going to be like Knott's Berry Farm or Dollywood where it's a well themed, family friendly park that still excels in the trill category. And an RMC would make any park better, and help out a park that actually needs the boost. KD is doing fine. I'm pretty sure SFMM, SFFT, and Dollywood were doing fine before getting RMCs.

  23. Except that Hurler diminishes the guest experience.
  24. I must emphasize I'd rather them spend tons of money all the time. . But instead of a flat ride or something that could be done for about the same price, I'd like a pretty good coaster back please. Do something else big the year before or after. Unless that would be to replace it with a custom RMC or better. Through 2009, every Hurler ride had air in every row on every bunny hop and those parts were about as rough as Woodstock. No more. I call that borken. I think I rode Hurler my first time in 1995. I remember having loads of fun on it. It's just god-awful now. Having ridden Thunder Run with the topper track and enjoying it quite a bit, I'd love to see if Hurler could regain some of its former glory in a similar fashion. That would resolve some of its issues. One of the main things I hate about Hurler is the seats/restraints. New topper track might get me to ride it again but if the seats are exactly the same it may be only for a single ride. It's never going to be popular even with topper track. The only way it can return to glory is if they Iron Horse the dang thing.
