  1. Okay, but like.... Why not Ninja? What's so special?
  2. I feel that Revolution needed the VR to attract a crowd. I doubt any of the GP would be running to the park because Revolution received new trains and paint. If they didn't add the VR, I could bet that Revolution would have been back to a small 10 minute wait like it normally always had within weeks of opening I agree. Revolution was boring. Maybe in its heyday it was the hottest thing since sliced bread, but since I started going to the park in the late 90s, it's been a total snooze apart from the awkward discomfort of the old restraints.
  3. That ticket price increase though.... Oof, glad I got in a couple weeks ago to see a tech rehearsal of Wizarding World. Can someone please just score me a butterbeer?
  4. I mean, in all fairness to the other poster... they have already delayed the opening once.
  5. Omg. I think I only went to Wild Rivers once or maybe twice, but hearing that name jogged my memory. I don't remember anything about it other than the name and it being INSANE.
  6. When I was double checking what year X opened, I saw something hilarious on its RCDB page... That's 57 completely full trains per hour. That's not even possible theoretically, let alone practically.
  7. Holy crap... was it really that popular? I just got the credit like two years ago, and I hated how rough it was. Ow. Dude, it was a HUGE deal back in 2002 when it opened.
  8. That's interesting, cuz I never saw a break in Yolo's operation throughout the day. I wonder if the direction of the wind matters for that ride? Also, another piece of info I forgot to mention.... Batman has a grouper assigning rows again. I was thinking to myself how stupid it was that the "No preferred seating" sign has never come down, and then I turned the corner and saw it being relevant again. And I'm still batting zero for racing TC on the green side. I think I've now been on 7 times total... 2 races on blue (plus one where we were about 1 train length behind), and none on green. What's the secret!?!?
  9. As far as I know, Lex was the only ride closed specifically for wind. Which wasn't all the surprising, since a lot of vertical tower rides don't operate in high wind. That kind of thing is usually set by the manufacturer of the attraction based on the way it was engineered. The weird part was that Superman was still running, even though the two rides share a structure.
  10. Busy and windy at the Mountain today. Rides closed all day were: X, Scream, and Ninja. Lex Luthor closed for the wind and didn't reopen for the rest of the day. Superman was sending cars on the right side, but they were empty toward the end of the day. Still wasn't making it all the way to the top. Did anyone else know about the re-branding of Orient Express? Will Six Flags ever have a promotional tie-in that isn't TACKY AS ALL HELL? Speaking of tacky... RIP to the Batman Action Theater. Your delightful tackiness will be missed. I didn't realize until I saw it all cleared out just how much space the theater took up. There's definitely room for a cool new something. A Justice League ride would be super cool, but with the long lines today, the lack of entertainment options at the park was especially conspicuous. Today could have been a better day at the park, buuut... it's hard to stay mad at that view.
  11. That was an option, but it was decided by the park management that it would decrease the capacity too much. That extra 10-20 seconds doesn't seem like a lot in the course of one cycle, but over an entire operating day could decrease the ridership by close to 1000 guests. They knew it would be popular and the line would be crazy, so they did what they could do (cheaply) to mitigate it. More trains and a double station would have been the best idea for capacity, but it's a less practical option for the park as a business, so I can't really fault them for not going that route.
  12. Boysenberry updates: The newly renovated Saloon is absolutely gorgeous. Seriously, it looks like they spared no expense. The stage lights and speakers are all hidden now, the wood is all new and dark stained, and best of all... CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING. That will be a Godsend during the summer. The Fun Bun from last year has a new counterpart... the Fun Stick. It's a slice of cheesecake on a stick that's dipped in batter and fried, then topped with powdered sugar and boysenberry frosting. As you may have guessed, it is RICH. I could barely finish it. Also, the chicken sandwich has changed from last year. No more grilled onions and peppers, now its more standard with just tomato and coleslaw on a wheat burger bun. I liked last year's better.
  13. Not quite daily. It was dark for 2 or 3 days last week. It's hard to predict, but it's been open a lot more frequently than closed.
  14. Honestly, everything about the construction of the WW is so awe inspiring. The detail, imagination, whimsy, and devotion are incredible. However... I got REEEEALLY close to puking after my first ride on Forbidden Journey. I was so disoriented, I could honestly barely walk myself down the exit stairs. There's a lot of non-committal rocking motion, and it made me queasy in a way that no coaster or other flat ride has in many many years. It's probably too late, but I think they should reprogram a couple of the scenes. The few dramatic dives and spins were all fine, but the generic boat rocking moments are going to cause a problem for a lot of the GP I think. Or, they just need some recovery benches and a barf trough tucked away at the top of the exit stairs.
  15. YOLO's capacity is atrocious, so try to hit that one first. Once the wait hits about 45 minutes, it never goes back down until the park is closed. Twisted Colossus can back up a little bit, but the line moves much more consistently.
  16. An employee at Knott's Berry Farm (who used to work for CA Great America) told me that Invertigo was moved from Great America to become Boomerang at Knott's. An employee. Of both parks.
  17. It's a very interesting idea, but I'm hesitant to refer to it as a "good" idea.
  18. They better get cracking if they want to make that date. The wood work is mostly done, but there still aren't rails installed on most of the course yet. Considering the work they've done over the last 5 months, I have no doubts that they will make that date (in 3 months). I can't wait to experience GhostRider in its good days. It could very well rank up there with Twisted Colossus if it's as good as everybody raves about! To be super honest... even at it's peak, it never had the kind of airtime TC does. But, it was very very fun.

  20. Titan has been a SixFlags name for a dozen years already...
  21. Xcelerator pretty much only runs one train now. In fact, I haven't seen it run two trains in years. Last time we visited the park, I timed the dispatches and they averaged 2.5-3 minutes, which means the actual capacity is somewhere between 400-500 PPH. Exactly. 500 pph is actually moving pretty quickly... no guest assistance passes, guests moving quickly with their loose items, no height checks, and every seat filled. The ride cycle is 70 seconds from launch to park, reloading and checking takes between 60 and 90 seconds, depending on guests. 400 is more real world average. It's funny to see how ride capacity usually varies so wildly from theoretical to real world. Silver Bullet's theoretical is 1,280 pph (dispatch every 90 seconds, 40 trains per hour, every seat full). But I can tell you from experience that regular operation is 25-28 trains per hour, and 30-32 if the crew is really on top of it and that guests cooperate. 750-800 pph is pretty average, 900 is exceptional.
  22. Speaking of paint.... can we talk about Tatsu for a minute? It's looking horrible, especially right behind the nice new paint on Revolution. They should probably think about giving Tatsu some love so it doesn't stink up the publicity photos of New Revolution. Either that or photoshop it out.
  23. 600 PPH totally smokes Xcelerator's capacity though, so that may not be much a problem for a park like Knott's.
