  1. I think you got a bit confused on the term "mini-hyper". An Intamin "Mega-Lite" was what is being referred to. Think Maverick at Cedar Point. It's a mega-lite Intamin, lots of speed without that much height, low to the ground G-Forces, lot's of quick transitions, and maybe a bonus launch towards the end like Maverick. It's easily one of their best rides they've built.
  2. I hope these storms don't mess with the integrity of The Texas Giant so that they have to yank off a car for the season. It's nice having all the cars on the train.
  3. Real shame too. While it was nice to refurbish the Texas Giant, Pandemonium in all essence is a family coaster with a "Twist"...see what I did there? I basically feel like we haven't gotten a true new roller coaster since Titan and that was in 2001...I'm ready for a new one. I Floorless or Wing Rider would fit well into our lineup. We have a gap in our lineup and one of those could fill it in.
  4. As we finally draw near to the season, can someone assist me with how season pass processing works? I live in Texas, but bought a platinum pass for Cedar Fair as I've got enough miles saved up to fly around this year to visit all the parks. I just want to know where to go and all that so I have a smooth experience since I have no idea. Thanks!!
  5. Have you experienced any kind of intense drowsiness as a side effect? With Namtab coming to Great Adventure, I've thought about taking it, but I'm not sure it'd be worth it if I was going to be really tired all day. There is also Non-Drowsy Dramamine. Seems to work for the softer stomachs that travel with me
  6. These Batman clones, while fun, are intense for a lot of folks. I didn't have a problem because I've got an iron stomach. I'll tell you that my fiancee who has to take Dramamine to ride comfortably, hate it backwards because it is more churning. Even if you've ridden hundreds of times, the elements get you a little bit, and I personally found it a bit more uncomfortable. I liked it, but it wasn't a OMG I MUST DO! Every time I went to the park. Take it for what it's worth, it's different, so you might as well try it, but if this was Roller Coaster Tycoon, the going backwards makes the Intensity Rating go from 7.58 to 8.30
  7. You've got it correct, me for example, if I want ejector air-time, I'll ride the Texas Giant, if I wan't some G-forces and Speed, I'll hop on over to Titan and get a good dose of forces along with it's long floater air-time hill. I'm glad personally they didn't undermine Intimidator in the park by just making a bigger faster version of it.
  8. THIS! THIS! THIS! THIS! THIS! THIS! THIS! I honestly do not understand the mentality shared by so many people that "if new coaster is not automatically your OMFG #1 blow me away ride, it means you HATE it and want it burned to the ground." I get this so often and it's so insanely stupid and annoying. There are a TON of coasters that I *like* and would go out of my way to travel for that do not appear on my top ten list. Hell, Tokyo Disney, Europa Park, and Grona Lund are some of my favorite parks in the world that I would spend thousands of dollars to travel to, and not a single one of their coasters appear in my "top ten" list. But to some coaster nerds, if you're not violently ejaculating milk cartons over the newest coaster, you're the most evil, vile person on the planet. And this sort of thinking really needs to stop. It's a cancer that infects this hobby. FFS people, just enjoy the rides for what they are regardless where they fall in yours or someone else's ranking list. I can't say this enough and I know for some people it will never sink in. Amen Rob! I live in Dallas, and while I enjoy getting to ride NTAG all the time. I bought a platinum pass for Cedar Fair parks this year so I could fly to Charlotte, Cedar Point, King's Dominion and King's Island all just because I love rides, I don't care what they are. I have a one week trip planned to hit Six Flags Great Adventure, King's Dominion, and Cedar Point all in a week in June. I just like rides, I'm glad you're preaching that as well sir to the masses. Thanks again for the coverage!
  9. Amen. I'm glad to hear it's a chassis they're rotating throughout the chain, that way only one good ride can be ruined at a time. Agreed, I'm not that on board with the flipping around rides fad. I was okay with Mr. Freeze being flipped around for a few years, now I'm almost ready for it to be turned around again. The last few rows is a great ride, but...I don't know. I get in line and sometimes desire to see out the tunnel. It's a shame they won't flip one of the trains around so you can choose.
  10. Thank you Rob and TPR for the reviews today. This looks like a very fun ride. I don't set expectations as an enthusiast...because I'm an ENTHUSIAST! I LOVE roller coasters, I don't care if it's only speed, only G-Forces, a combo of both or whatever element is that rides ''trick''. I really wish the coaster community who claim to love rides wouldn't be so critical. Who cares if Gatekeeper wasn't forceful? It looks fantastic and it's a good ride! Who cares that MF doesn't have lots of airtime? I was the happiest guy on the planet when I rode it for the first time. Let's all just agree that at the end of the day, we are lucky to live in the era of time where these great wonders can be built for us to enjoy and they don't need our critique, just our bottom in a seat!
  11. I'm looking forward to some more options as well, I could see these things going nationwide at all the parks. I live in Texas and a model of Titan and TG would be cool! I also visit Cedar Point and other Cedar Fair parks and having Fury 325 will be nice, having a Millennium and Dragster would be great as well!
  12. -I know that feeling on Sky Screamer, as much as I love thrills, for some reason I can't seem to look forward to riding this ride. I give it a complimentary ride almost each time I go, but I actually sit somewhat nervous in the seat. It does a good job of making you feel like you're not secure with those little chains in front of you. In December though, my fiancee and I caught a night where it was pretty windy, but it was open...the seats were making full rotations because of the wind...I got down on a knee and praised the Lord when I got off! I was legitimately a little freaked out that time.
  13. This is very good to see. I NEVER complain, I just suck it up and deal with it because I love rides and go so often that a lot of us probably know more about the park than some of the employees themselves. I finally burst this past season during Holiday in the park. I went to Cedar Point in September and they have the reputation of having some of the best in the business in turns of ride operators...it was like Heaven compared to the way SFOT ride ops the last 3 or 4 years. It was like visiting another country and coming back to the US with new eyes. I called Six Flags, and to their credit, they let me vent and tell them what I was tired of and how I bought Cedar Fair season passes this year even though I live here in Dallas. That the way they run their parks is THAT much better that it's worth me paying for 5 or 6 flights this year (visiting Cedar Point at least 3 times, King's Dominion, King's Island, and Carowinds). I'm very happy to see that Six Flags took a lot of people who finally complained seriously to start making changes. I was genuinely trying to help them when I spoke to a supervisor. I'm looking forward to hopefully a good season this year!
  14. -That's great to hear! I'll be venturing out for my first visit of 2015 soon, I typically go about 15-20 times, if not more. It's fun watching the park evolve for the better finally. -As far as the Cedar Point hater, sorry man, I made my first visit ever there in September...I see why they are one of the best, the rides are amazing, the employees even better. Only the food sucks, but who cares with that lineup of roller coasters lol
  15. Good to see the park has made some improvements. I never EVER complain but I finally couldn't take it anymore this past season watching the park I grew up just run so poorly. I actually called their HR and managed to get a big shot in ride operations to let me vent for about 15 min. Good to see enough people have complained to speed up the process a bit! -I also hope that a rework of the entrance is in the budget someday. That seems to be the thing nowadays is to rebuild your entrance with a coaster attached to it (Gatekeeper and Cedar Point & Fury 325 with Carowinds).
  16. I think it'll be awhile before Cedar Point deliberately undermines Millennium Force.
  17. 1. Do you have your videos set to auto-play on your: a. desktop computer and/or b. mobile device? -Mine is set to auto play on both my PC and Mobile Devices. 2. Do you regularly "share" content from Facebook "page" (like the TPR page) to your own personal Facebook page? And have you shared something from the TPR page? -I don't share on a regular basis, but occasionally I do share things that I find really cool about new attractions or new features found at parks I fly to visit each year. 3. What kind of content are you most likely to share? (Videos, Photos, News Stories, etc?) -I typically share photos, but if it's a neat POV of a ride I'm gonna go ride soon, I'll share that as well. 4. How long on average do you watch a video posted to Facebook for? Do you watch the entire video? First 30 seconds? Until you get bored? -I typically will watch the whole video unless I've seen it before. 5. How important are "video thumbnails" to you? (the image you see with the > Play icon before you click to watch a video) -I'm not picky, I'll usually watch if it looks interesting or the title catches my eye. 6. What do you like/dislike about Facebook? What features do you use the most and which ones annoy you? -Because it's Facebook The purpose that TPR uses it for though is just fine, I enjoy having TPR stuff fill up my feed rather than a lot of the negative stuff in the world. 7. Is there anything that TPR does or doesn't do on Facebook that you think we should be doing more/less of? -Offering autographed Rob food bibs!
  18. They know how to make money for sure. I just wish most people would quit getting up in arms over the Fast Lane passes. I'm from Texas, I get one or two visits a year and along with risking catching good weather, my expensive FL passes pay for those awesome new attractions that most get to enjoy 8-10 or more times by living in the area. I came up with a theory that most locals complain about the passes because you don't see other parks that often. I live in Dallas, TX. While SFoT isn't a bad park by any means, it doesn't have MF, or Dragster, or Gatekeeper, or a huge inverted B&M like Raptor. I'd happily wait in line if I lived near Cedar Point knowing I can come back tomorrow. The snow though and those temperatures...you can keep that
  19. I personally feel a true enthusiast can ride ANY ride and NEVER complain about it because YOU'RE AN ENTHUSIAST! I save up money and fly around each year to ride roller coasters, I don't care what it is. That's being an enthusiast, and I haven't ridden a ride that I said ''well that sucked, NEVER AGAIN!" They really should re-define the terminology among coaster dorks.
  20. It's good to see it get some attention, but at the same time, I'm looking forward to the day that the whole entrance to the park is revamped and given a new ride to bring it all together. Similar to what Cedar Point did with Gatekeeper, and what Carowinds is doing with Fury 325. I love our park, but it's feeling older and stale, and frankly, I think changing around the gate entrance configurations and adding one by Titan or something would make the walk to the front and leaving so much easier. I'm one of those that personally would rather walk instead of waiting on the rusty trams lol
  21. I wish my home park SFOT could be this efficient. I visited Cedar Point for the first ever in September this past year, I had the time of my life! I did notice how quick and efficient the team members are and I appreciated it. SFOT crews...I could write and have a movie screenplay approved for theaters by the time I get to the station lines...
  22. Yeah, sorry I didn't specify, that was my thought as well, just extend out the entrance and what is the loading platform can become the exit. It was only a thought is all for some fun If you'd like another thought to ponder, I've always thought they could totally revamp the entrance. I would like to see a permanent entrance by Titan or that temporary thing they build sometimes by La Vibora to actually become a thing. Then just re-do the whole entrance area of the park and the entrance territory to be more spacious, could maybe a fit a new ride if they tried hard enough.
  23. Because it takes more staff, which can be hard to find and more importantly expensive. Yes, but on the other end of the spectrum, would you rather have the people in line getting annoyed by the already slow operations and not buying anything? Or wandering around the park with all the smells of foods and lights of a gift shop? It only takes one employee to be in a second station to make sure unloading happens, this is how Cedar Point does it with Millennium Force, it works very well.
  24. I can see that, the general public was very nice to myself and my fiancee. That's us pictured I was surprised, because I had heard the reputation for people with fast lane passes...and we had some custom shirts made just for our visit, which included that we are from Texas on it, but okay, I get it, it was a lot more of friendlier environment. At SFOT, or any Six Flags for that matter, it seems it's more of a teenage babysit location that happens to have rides.
  25. I visited Cedar Point for the first time this year, personally, I didn't find Mean Streak to be all that bad. I was kind of looking forward to it as my home park is Six Flags Over Texas. I enjoyed the Texas Giant before it was given the RMC treatment. Since Mean Streak and Texas Giant were brothers built by the same company, it was like going in a time capsule. The Texas Giant was WAY rougher then Mean Streak, but I still liked Texas Giant before the re-do. Side question, I was so stumped by this and wondered if someone could answer this. When I visited the park in September (first trip ever) I noticed there are no metal detectors? It's just walk on in! Is this a thing with Ohio? Or does Cedar Point just trust it's customers that much? Back home here at SFOT, you basically get a pat down lol
