  1. I'm already wondering though what the next expansion will be, they're running out of DC names. That's okay by me, I grew up a Bugs Bunny and Scooby-Doo man personally This revitalizes this portion of the park to make it very active, but I've felt anywhere past Superman to start feeling old and stale personally. There's some nostalgia feeling, but the other portions of the park could use some shoring up don't you think? I am happy at least that the DC theme has stayed in one portion of the park. I'm holding out hope that the other sections will receive rides based on their location to start bringing the rest of the park to life. Let's start with a "Titan" entrance sign...it is 15 years old now.
  2. Maybe I'm the minority here, now if they just flip Mr. Freeze back around and give a fresh coat of paint to Batman and Mr. Freeze, they'll have one of the best DC themed areas in the chain.
  3. Yeah it's not a bad deal. My wife and I can grab 2 passes and we split a dining pass and it's about $205 before taxes and processing fees. It's just slightly more than 1 Cedar Fair platinum pass ....But I renewed that for next year first. It's weird, I have SFOT 15 min from my doorstep and yet I've been to CP 3 weekends this season, Carowinds a few months back, and I've hit King's Island and King's Dominion in the past year. I visited SFGAdv last year also for the first time, El Toro is the real winner. I just find it sad that I'm more willing to travel now to Cedar Fair parks than other Six Flags parks.
  4. Yep, they made it where I can't complain about not getting a coaster, but it opens up other worms. But again, folks like us on these forums and also enthusiasts aren't "real" people The GP will love this...even though there's one 4 hours away. It's just a shame we have to look at 2 clones in our state, but I'll take it. Sad part is, I almost would rather have the flat rides as that's what I was expecting and kept hoping for a major coaster next year. But on the positive side, at least the investors are investing.
  5. Hey everyone! I'm gathering info on Magic Mountain as I'll be making my first trip out there in December. My concerns are, are any rides down for yearly maintenance at this point? I'm mostly going to ride TC and give X a shot since I've never gotten on it's type before...even if it is gonna be a bumpy ride. FT at least once since I understand it's worth the wait.
  6. ^The problem with the complaining I'm sure has a lot to do with the fact that it was 7 years between Titan and Pandemonium. Since then, as far as coasters go, they've done the RMC of Giant. Don't get me wrong, it's a great ride now, but it didn't add to the lineup. Realistically that means we're going on 8 years without a new roller coaster. Wild Mouses are fun, but with that being the only meat between Titan and whatever the next coaster will be...we've really been letdown on that aspect. With that said, the package of flats they've added have been a nice success along with JLBFM. All nice things to round out the park, but being the "flagship park" that they refused to sell. It's time to be granted more of those marquee roller coasters. I'm not seeking some 30 million dollar B&M because I know the park will never spend the money, but there are things they can add for sure.
  7. I don't really know of much local to Sandusky (or Ohio) at all. I get the impression that Sandusky isn't really known for it's cuisine, though I could be way off base there. If you're in Virginia in the future I'd be happy to plug a place or two. Not really, I was joking with Josh (the ride supervisor for MF) about things to do in Sandusky as I was trying to find stuff when not at the park. As far as food, I've gone to that Tap House in downtown, Casa Real for some Mexican food, and this past Saturday night we tried Pizza House which was actually quite good. I'd recommend the pizza place, they were open till 1 am and so it was great after the park closed. I'm sure I'm not the only one, I just enjoy trying local stuff that I can't get unless I'm there when I fly out of town.
  8. Considering I've spent 7 days at Cedar Point this year with SFOT 15 min from me and I've only spent 3 or 4 days there...I would have to disagree with your judgement. Besides, Famous Dave's isn't an Ohio "thing", it's a typical BBQ chain like many others. Now if you would like to suggest a place for me to try that's local the next time I visit, that's more productive and friendly.
  9. I flew up this past weekend and I only rode Corkscrew because my back needed to pop and that horribly engineered airtime hill always does the trick!
  10. Famous Daves is "okay". I only say this because of where I'm from. Whenever you visit SFOT again, check out a place called "Hard 8 BBQ". There's a location about 15-20 min from the park and it's very good. I got married in June and we had them cater our wedding because it's THAT good!
  11. I'm one of those complainers about a lack of a new major coaster each year, but that's why I keep a season pass to Cedar Point in my back pocket (it's cheap to fly there from DFW if you're wondering). I'm happy with the new additions of flat rides, here's to hoping though something much larger is coming to round it out one of these days.
  12. My secret route is I go very early in the morning and pray to God on the way that 35 isn't jacked up in Austin...and I grit my teeth and save my Bucee's stop for on the way back...I can spend hours in there
  13. That new bar area looks great! But allow me to chime in on this "whiny enthusiast" talk. I was very happy that the park was unique the last 2 years in the Justice League dark ride and our two new flats that no other park received. My beef with Six Flags has always been how you can find something in every park that is copied somewhere else. Here's a prime example, I've visited Great Adventure and Magic Mountain in the past year...both have B&M Batman clones. Fiesta Texas has "another Goliath named ride" that is a mirror of one of these cookie cutter B&M's. Now the latest rumor is our park will be getting a 4D Free-Spin like Fiesta Texas (source is on Screamscape). While I understand that's not always totally reliable, most sources are generally correct. This will give us 2 Batman clones and 2 4D spins within a 3-4 hour drive of each other...that's the stuff I don't like Six Flags for. I'm happy with our park, though I've always questioned some of it's decisions. I still to this day don't know why we built Titan a year after Cedar Point opened Millennium Force and to this day not a single Six Flags park has a Giga Coaster. I've ridden all the Giga's that Cedar Fair has to offer except Leviathan in the last year, boy those things are fun and make Titan a Texas sized disappointment.
  14. Random question, I've already tried calling the park customer service and they closed for the day. I'm waiting on my flight in Texas to come to Coastermania tomorrow. It's likely going to be canceled and I had pre-purchased fast lane plus for use at the park tomorrow. If I'm not able to make it, does anyone know if Cedar Point will reimburse it for not getting to make it to the park? I'm sure it might be on the fast lane ticket itself, but I'm scrambling at an airport. Thanks for any help!
  15. This is why I spend the money on passes to Cedar Point with Six Flags Over Texas 15 min from my front door and fly up a few times a season. My park would never do such a thing, and I just have way more fun at CP knowing they'll do what they can to ensure I have a good time.
  16. ^This reply right here is exactly what I was going for on my original post. For example, I dragged a few people up to CP last weekend who had never been, it was a bucket list trip for them. I'm not a fan of Corkscrew for the reasons that have been mentioned, but I laughed my rear end off on Corkscrew and Magnum listening to them playfully complain and scream "YEP...SHE'S A ROUGH B****!!!" While obviously someday they'll be torn down, the memories of that one ride with them will be the part I remember.
  17. The whole point of my post about being an enthusiast as that often times people stray from being a enthusiast and will mostly become complainers. I'm going to carry a baby rattle and shake it on rides at Coastermania just to start the "rattle conversation" But back on topic, no, I'm not saying you're not an enthusiast if you hate a ride, but at the same time doesn't it get old complaining about the same thing everyday like we hit a reset button and yesterday never happened? That's all I'm saying. At the end of the day, we're nerds who love inanimate objects that toss us around...and we love being that group of misunderstood people.
  18. Coasterbill, Mean Streak is a good example of what being an enthusiast is about. No offense to all the proclaimed "enthusiasts" and the ones making the trip for Coastermania in a few weeks; but the point of being an "enthusiast" is you enjoy any roller coaster...regardless of how crappy it might be and find something enjoyable about it. I like Mean Streak because it's almost the mirror image of the Texas Giant before RMC did their magic back home here in Texas. For me, it's like riding old nostalgia and going back in time to when I enjoyed riding the TG, even through the headaches it gave me towards it's last season So Ride On for another season Coasterbill!
  19. I just landed home from my trip to Cedar Point this weekend! I was there Friday-Sunday. Even though the wind and cold put a damper on the park, it didn't stop our fun! Valravn is a winner in my book. We jumped off the plane Friday morning from Cleveland and got to the park at 8:30 and got right in line at 9 to give it a run, it's a FANTASTIC ride and air time experience! Friday was obviously the good weather day and everything ran well and the employees were really on it. This is what I love about Cedar Fair parks and Cedar Point is the ride ops and customer service is always top notch...at least when I'm there. Saturday and Sunday were more of a challenge obviously, but we eventually did hit everything as it opened up on both days; so it wasn't a total loss for other people as well which was great to see. I kept meeting people in line from Florida, from Virginia, me from Texas of course and they all were there for Valravn and Millennium Force and it was nice to see that out of town folks weren't disappointed! They got their rides eventually! Sunday I had to work hard for what a lot of people want. That weird rain/hail storm that blew through, I was in line for Top Thrill Dragster as they were running test train after test train to see how it was holding up with the wind. I suffered the beating and didn't get out of line and was rewarded with a roll back! It was roll back city on Sunday. 3 trains in a row rolled back and I was on the 3rd one before they gave up for a few hours; so all in all, it was a very successful trip and it can be done even in bad ride conditions! I'll be back in 3 weeks for Coastermania!
  20. I agree that I absolutely hate this, but I've never once seen Cedar point do it on any ride. Parks like Carowinds on the other hand do is constantly. Yes this is very true, but Cedar Fair does one thing different also that I noticed. Remembering that I say I appreciate the little things. When I flew up early last year to visit and got in line for Rougamantis, or whatever people call it nowadays. They had a sign early in the queue stating that due to the long lines, assigned seating may happen. I appreciate at least knowing this before standing in a line for over an hour. Here back home, they'll do it for The Texas Giant randomly and we have NO WAY of knowing ahead of time because of the station location and where the queue is and they give no warning that it's coming...
  21. Agreed, I live 15 min from Six Flags Over Texas and the dispatching is atrocious at my park. I enjoy the rides here, I really do, but I'm flying up for 3 days next weekend simply because I always have more fun at Cedar Fair parks, especially CP. I appreciate the little things, and watching dispatchers hauling to try and get people on and off is enough to make me fly on a plane so they can have my money.
  22. Ahhh yes, a new season! I'm getting married next month, so what do I decide to do instead of wedding planning? Flying up to Cedar Point 2 of the next 3 weekends!
  23. Oh no doubt, I'm looking forward to both CW and RR. It'll be nice to stand in line for a thrill ride at our park besides Superman. We really were lacking in "thrill rides". This takes care of that for awhile, we have a great dark ride now (when it works). The only thing left that we need...is a good coaster. I'm happy with the NTAG RMC change, but now because it was the prototype, it's lagged behind other RMC re-do's. Still a great ride, don't get me wrong. However now, besides Pandemonium, we haven't had a major coaster since...Titan. I'm still hoping for a Wing or a Floorless. It would be nice to be the first Six Flags with a Giga, but that won't happen with our B&M wannabe hanging in the back lol. I see SFGADV getting the first one in the chain someday personally.
  24. That may be true Superbatboy, but you're talking comparing historical rides to the new ones. I visited KI for the first time last year, I had a good time. I wanted to ride The Beast at night, and ride Banshee. Diamondback is fun, but there's nothing unique about it compared to other Hyper-coasters except maybe the seats which actually slow down the load times some. With that being said, KI is a good park, but it is the little brother of CP and it's going to remain that way. There's great potential at the park and I really thought it looked nice and I enjoyed my visit; but I was in Ohio to visit CP. I've got 3 planned trips to fly up from Texas this year to visit CP, none of those trips include a return to KI this year. I thought Banshee was great and felt it was very well done, however; whenever I tell friends who love roller coasters the place to go, you have to tell them CP if you're from coming the distance that I do. You just get much more out of it than you would just about anywhere else. SFGADV gives CP a run because of El Toro and a few others (I'm on the TTD is better than Kingda Ka boat) but it doesn't quite do it. I also went to KD for I-305 last year, it was a great ride and a blast, but when you compare it to the rest of the park after Volcano, you don't have a whole lot for a few days of stay. It's just the way it is; I see big things and expansions for KI that will make it a blip on the screen for visits on return trips to Ohio; but the GP needs to respond for it to happen. If CoasterBill is right and 1% was all the attendance increased...that's not going to cut it.
  25. The only problem I see with KI getting a Giga coaster is Cedar Point being 3 hours away. From a locals perspective, yes, the park could likely support one. From a business perspective however, taking away from Millennium Force at their flagship park and undermining it with a bigger Giga 3 hours away is bad business. We'll see what happens, Banshee was a great addition and there's many things the park can add besides a Giga also.
