Didn't they have some trouble with Crow's Nest (was The Sparkler then) last year as well? I seem to remember them having trouble sourcing a part needed to repair it quickly. Or am I just remembering wrong? Maybe I'm thinking of Liberty Launch? Arggg my memory these days..... -

I think you're going to be just fine Agreed. Calling The Voyage just "fun" is a major understatement. -

Sounds awesome! So getting out here this year, seems like this is the best time to finally go It depends on how late in the season you go. It's always hard to tell how well they're gonna hold up Well again my hands are pretty tied to late august, but I like an "aggressive" ride and I am still well under 40 so I will take my chances! I want to clarify a bit my earlier post. I by no means meant to say that The Voyage is as smooth as a steel coaster because thats just not true. Being rough is the nature of the beast when it comes to wooden coasters. I rode it at media preview day and it was running very well. I'm 34 and suffered a stroke about a year and a half ago yet I was still able to ride(albeit only once). What I"m saying is that it is by no means overly rough and I think people THINK its overly rough because of how fast and intense the ride is combined with the nature roughness of a wooden coaster. On the 1-10 scale with 1 being the roughest I'd place The Voyage (based on my one ride on media preview day) of about 5, right in the middle. Now as far as intensity, with 10 being the most intense it gets a 10 no questions asked. Add those two together and well, I think thats why many people complain of it being more rough than it is. I will also say, I don't think your really taking any "chances" even if you don't end up liking it. The Voyage is one of those rides that is a very unique experience. Even if you don't end up liking it you will be certainly glad you rode it at least once. I know your trip isn't until August but I'm really interested in a trip report from you when you return! -

I think The Voyage's intensity (especially in the 2nd half) is mistaken a lot for roughness. It's a intense ride for sure... Extremely fun. I'm really surprised also with how The Raven and The Legend have held up over all these years. They for sure put the work and money into their three woodies every year to keep them in top notch shape. I do caution you about The Voyage, it IS a VERY INTENSE ride. -

I will have to agree that the trek from the entrance back to Thunderbird is.... Pretty crazy. I also like the idea of a new Rapids Ride over there as I've mentioned before. But I DO really enjoy the still present Raging Rapids. Either way the park is for sure large enough and spread out enough to warrant some transport of some type. It's almost a necessity at this point. Rather than lift chairs, what about a train of some sort? I would think this would be easier to construct and engineer around the current park than lift chairs which require a height clearance as well. -

They almost always run just about everything in a good rain but if it's lightning then they of course close stuff. I've been there during storms and just a good rain and they really have a good handle on when they need to close rides or not. If your ever there in a good storm they really make sure all the guests are safe and I'm buildings and whatnot. They do an impressive job with that. -

Oh and as far as Thunderbird being down all day I think we need to put it into perspective a bit. Not only is this HW's first major steel coaster, but it's also a wing rider, the only one B&M has made with a launch EVER. So not only some firsts for the park but for B&M in general. Given how much testing and how many rides this thing has already been through, I'm honestly surprised this was the first time they have had a hiccup like this. I've always considered the weekend only operation at the beginning of the season for ANY park to kind of be a trial and error time period. Learning new additions, still training staff, ect. As far as Thunderbird itself though, well, it already has a way better track record than Pilgrims Plunge could ever had hoped for. I have no doubts it will end up being a VERY reliable ride for them. -

Here in the Evansville area I've been able to get it at Price Less foods, Schnucks, and some Wal-Marts. Since we don't have either Price Less or Schnucks, I'll check Wal-Mart. Thank you! Your quite welcome. As far as Price Less, they didn't have it at first but they carried Prairie Farms so we asked them and their manager told us he would talk to their PF vendor to get it. A week later they carried it... So that's something you might try at whatever chains you have there. If you can find it, it's WELL worth the hunting effort. We have been through SEVERAL cartons already! -

Nothing too bad, but fairly busy. Lines will be longer in the water park for most of the day, but the lines stay pretty short for the coasters, so it depends on if you are a water park type of person or not. If you aren't, at least ride Mammoth and Wildebeest! You my friend may have just settled my trip! That sounds good, and realistically it works for my schedule. Yessss. I enjoy water rides but I almost always skip em. I'll deff hit those 2 up but I'm a coaster guy for sure. Thanks all for the help. This would be workable for sure. Make sure you get to Splashin Safari AS SOON AS IT OPENS. And you'll be good to ride the water coasters and probably a couple other things without waiting in long lines. AS SOON AS you notice the water park fill up then make your way out of the water park and hit up the roller coasters and other dry rides as then the lines in the dry park will be much shorter. -

Depends on how "late" in August your talking about. Most schools go back in session in the middle of August so if you go at the tail end you will be pretty golden as long as you avoid the weekends. The down side is that because of this it is also somewhere around the time they go to weekend only operation. Check their schedule and see when that happens. -

Sorry for the double post, but I love how Hyena Falls has friends now! Before it just was way out there by itself but I feel like now it fits into the layout of the park more cohesively than before. Very good placement on all three rides HW! It's still extremely out of place, considering it's part of Splashin' Safari and is a good 10 minute walk from the other water park attractions. But like Paula has said, it's all part of HW's plan, so I'm sure within a few years it won't be a problem anymore. It would make sense to put the Hyenas out by Mammoth - Hyena Springs takes hardly any space, and Hyena Falls could even make for some near miss elements on Thunderbird. If there's more waterpark attractions on the way in the future, then Splashin Safari may be pushing the park's boundary as a whole, but it looks like there's a little space left to the north. If anything gets added to Thanksgiving it could be added to the front of the section near Fourth of July. Take away Raging Rapids and that opens a lot of space in the front of Thanksgiving and the back of Fourth of July, and then you can put a new Rapids ride where Pilgrims Plunge used to be, and this opens it up to both the Thanksgiving section and Splashin' Safari. This is what I see happening. I've suggested before the removal of raging Rapids and or frightful falls and rebuilding in Thanksgiving. That would open up a lot of space up there in Halloween and 4th of July for new stuff and/or moving the entrance to Thanksgiving. -

I think its safe now, everyone should have watched the show by now. Rayvon has made it into the top 4 on American Idol! He has really improved a TON the past few weeks and the judges even commented that if he keeps going this rate he very well might win! So awesome for him and Holiday World to have an Alum make it this far! -

I found the vest restraints very comfortable. I felt really secure without having any pain or lack of forces. The harness itself is just one buckle. The seats and vests in the middle are both larger for those who want more room or due to their size. The closest airport to HW is Evansville Regional Airport. Despite what those in Louisville want to think Holiday World IS CLOSER to Evansville than Louisville. Sometimes you can get a cheaper flight into Louisville though. The drive between Evansville and HW is pretty easy, painless, and not that long of a drive. Louisville is also relatively close but you'll get there quicker though Evansville. -

THIS x1000 the launch on Thunderbird is NOT a gimmick. It actually provides an amazing aspect to the ride. The ride wouldn't be even close to as awesome if it weren't for the launch! This ride depends on the launch as much as it does the ride elements and the winged trains to provide what it does. -

Yea I don't get how people hate it either. It really is very well received by the general public. I would not even come close to saying that it needs serious help. It's actually in very very good condition and far away from being even "sad". Are we all talking about the same ride???? -

A couple other things. The general population around here LOVES The Voyage. I rarely hear complaints about it and when I do it's from people who don't like wooden coasters anyway. Also I remember on the behind the scenes tour Thursday someone brought up the Timberliners. Our guide said the park actually still owns and is in possession of one full train of Timberliners.... The working prototype. He said even though it was tested and ran on The Voyage track, that it wasn't a safe and good working fit for a ride as long an intense as The Voyage. So, I guess in the future HW COULD build another coaster that would make use of the one Timberliner train they still own. If they still own it I would guess it's for good reason. I don't thing the relationship with the GG is as strained as a lot of people on here make it think. They talked very highly of their ability to come back year after year to do new site surveys and do track repairs and adjustments based on their new site surveys. -

Couldn't agree more. Legend has always left me feeling more shaken than Voyage. I've never found Voyage painful. Intense, sure. That's why I love it. Legend has always left me with a slight headache, whereas Voyage has always just left me out of breath. It's interesting how this ride can have such polarizing experiences for people. This is EXACTLY how the ride is for me. The Voyage is just a really really long intense and relentless ride. It's supposed to be that way! The Legend really bangs me around as well but it's not crazy rough where I need to complain or rush to the hospital. My issues with the woodies Thursday was not because of the rides themselves but because of still recovering from the stroke. The two are very different rides with different experiences and feelings to them.... And I'm sure it was intentional. That's what makes Thunderbird such a good fit for the park! It was something they were missing and now they really have a coaster for everyone. 4 unique coaster rides for 4 different types of coaster lovers. -

If I had money to actually pledge, I would also put up the claim that if you don't LOVE HW after visiting I would recoup your ticket price. It's just one of those places.... Almost hard to explain.. And even harder for those who have never been there to understand.
