  1. I wouldn't mind seeing wheel of fortune removed altogether to make room to expand the park. Even on the busiest of days I hardly ever see anyone riding it. I could see that area as a midway path over to somewhere near High Roller.
  2. GM Frazier just confirmed that the black matts are indeed to bring frost out of the ground so they are not waiting till spring to pour concrete! That's good news!
  3. Check out the web cam! I think that matt is for thawing the ground. Looks like the cold weather isn't going to slow them up at all!
  4. I don't see TC going anywhere. I rode it last season and they did fix some of the water features. I'd like to see them enhance the ride to attract more people to ride it. I remember when it opened it was a loooong wait to get on. Have said that there is no reason that they couldn't build a new coaster that would interact with maybe both Excalibur and TC. That would be cool! And of course, put the lowest track sections above the high water mark so it could operate in any flooding conditions!
  5. The new LED lighting package looks great too!
  6. Yea im sure you are all right! But it seems like a large temporary enclosure for just a slab of concrete. Just think, before this year is up we will know for sure whether or not 2016 will be our year for a new coaster!
  7. Is there going to be a roof over the slide landing area?
  8. I guess I'll break the ice for 2015 and post first. Happy New Year everyone! I really believe that 2016 will be our year for a new coaster. No one expected what they were going to do at Carowinds for 2015. Carowinds is a slightly larger park but is located in a similar size market. Who would have guessed a 30 million coaster and reconstruction of the entire front entrance. Then just a few weeks ago the addition of another million plus attraction with the addition of a slingshot ride. I know a lot of people are speculating that we may get another water park addition and the rational behind it is sound. Personally I think we won't see another water park addition until 2017 and a new coaster in 2016. But, and its a big Butt! what is the chance that we see a "Carowinds" style year in 2016. How about a new coaster and water park addition? I know its a stretch but one can dream can't they?
  9. You mentioned that most of the plants in Nick U. are fake. Actually most of them are live plants. I've watched many of those trees grow to be quite large from the small tree when it was first planted. Many may not know but the park has birds and insects too. Last year I read about how they released thousands of ladybugs to keep control of aphids. I'm pretty sure that they employ a full time grounds keeper and crew just to maintain the plants.
  10. They are getting ready to pour concrete for the slide tower landing area! Sweet!
  11. You can now see where the slides will end when you check out the web cam!
  12. Good news! I had a short conversation with Mr Frazier and he said the water park expansion was on time and under budget! He didn't know the exact schedule but we might see the tower going up soon!
  13. Here is what I'm hoping and thinking they are going to do with the old splash pad. If you combine that area with the sand field that was behind the subway, (Used to be the premium grassy lounging area), it would make a pretty large area for one of those giant water play structure/multiple slide towers. It's like a splash pad times 100! Mt. Olympus put one in recently! They are pretty cool. The only issue is that you have the lazy river in the way but they could build the complex right over the top of the lazy river! Just a thought.
  14. Hate to tell you this, but in the business word this is just a polite way of saying "no chance in hell" I have to disagree! Mr. Frazier has flat out told me "no" or "I can't go there" many times when asked a question. He really does not beat around the bush. He is a friend of mine and I don't believe he would purposely mislead me unless he had a really good reason and I was asking too direct of a question. some times I just want to pat you on the head and say "who's a good boy?" Just because you can throw out an insult doesn't make you right! End of story.

  16. While I'm not going to quote the whole thing, I need to comment on the previous 2 or 3 entries. First of all, Cedar Fair has said many times lately that they are focused on the customer experience. when ariznglori states that Wild Thing does not meet expectations and does not have the "WOW" factor anymore I know he is not speaking just from his own experiences. Someone riding Wild Thing for the first time will probably love it. Locals and those of us who love coasters may like Wild Thing but we realize that something is missing from this ride. I didn't understand this until I rode Intimidator at Carowinds this past October. It was an amazing ride! Only 20 feet taller and about as fast but because of the train style, it was way more fun to ride then Wild Thing. Breathing new life into Wild Thing by adding new trains is a very cost effective way of adding another 15 to 20 years of like to Wild Thing. And Mr. Frazier did tell me when I asked of this possibility that "anything was possible" so... Second, The information I am about to share and have shared before is first hand from Mr. Frazier to me. This is in regards to the flood plains that border Valleyfair on the West and North sides of the park. Extending the flood berms would be very difficult and expensive if not impossible to do because of federal regulations. However, I was told that Valleyfair could build coaster supports in the flood plains but not a station. What does this mean? Take the current boundaries that Valleyfair has now and look at everyplace that could accommodate a coaster station ONLY. Most of the track work could reach out into flood plains. Keep the track above known high water levels and even during flood years the coaster could operate as usual. I don't agree that the only place to put a new coaster is in dino land. My guess is that they will move the current maintenance building and expand the park there or expand to the North of High Roller. They did put a permanent haunt building there this year. There are several areas that could be easily cleared to make a path under High Roller to get access to a new coaster station. This is exactly what they did with Renegade and Excalibur. Excalibur's station is built on top the flood berm. The only problem was they did put the tracks high enough to avoid flooding. Last year was quite rare to have a flood during the operating season though. Most of the flooding happens during the spring and has gone down before opening day! Lots to discuss and only 5 months to opening day!
  17. The tallest slides are 90 feet. Add 10 - 15 feet for a canopy and you are at 105 feet. Excalibur, renegade, extreme swing are about that tall. I think you will easily be able to see it from the highway!
  18. I've been on that ride at WOF. I've also been on another one. Its a really fun ride. I remember riding with a rather large fellow one time, as soon as the floor dropped out down he went. It was quite humorous. He had a good attitude about. Ive also seen people flip themselves upsidedown. Dont think your supposed to do that! The slide footers make it look like a pretty large platform. Who has been on a trapdoor slide? I went on one for the first time last summer and I have to say it was pretty thrilling! It was a looping slide which was pretty sweet!
  19. True, social media hasn't been around that long. Your probably right but I thought it was an interesting piece of info.
  20. I have a theory about social media. I did a study (Not Scientific) HaHa! I believe that social media, such as this forum, has some influence on the decisions Cedar Fair makes when spending the capital improvement dollars. Take a look! Cedar Fair parks and their ranking on Theme Park Review, based on number of pages. 1. Cedar Point - 2083 Flag ship park 2. K. I. - 1139 Well developed 3. K. D. - 1097 Well developed 4. C.G.A. - 939 Needs attention to bring to par 5. Knotts - 907 Well developed 6. C.W. - 642 Well developed (Canadian Flagship Park) 7. Carowinds - 458 Needs attention to bring to par 8. Valleyfair - 289 Needs attention to bring to par 9. Dorney - 164 Well developed 10. W.O.F. - 119 Needs attention 11. M.A. - 44 Needs attention Look at the three underlined parks. They all have descent activity on the forums. W.O.F and M.A. both need lots of attention but since there is so little "talk" about the parks maybe they got passed up for now for significant improvements. Dorney park was a bit surprising but they have a nice well rounded line up including a great waterpark. Carowinds has a nice line up of coasters including the future fury but their flat ride line up has a lot to be desired. I think you will see some additional flat rides coming to Carowinds in the future. Its no wonder the California's Great America is on the list of 3, look at their discussion thread. They are a small park but rank #4 in discussion. That said a lot to me. Valleyfair has a solid 289 pages which put it on Cedar Fairs radar. I have to wonder if WOF or MA had more discussion pages would they have more attractions coming? All the other parks with a lot of discussion going on about them have seen significant growth for many years! This is just my take on this. What does everyone else think looking at this list
  21. Ok, can I respond to all the comments? First off I have never said I had concrete information on anything. I am only commenting on rumors. Speculating is fun or so I thought. Your all taking this way to seriously. I only mention Mr. Frazier when he tells me facts. Believe me I have asked him some pretty direct questions and he lets me know when he cant say any thing and I respect that. I've invited him to read this forum and I know he reads fb and vfz. So why would I post something that I shouldn't when I know he may read it. By the way, over a year ago he did call me on things I said on vfz. I apologized and we moved on! I also respect the fact that if you know something as fact you don't talk about it cause it could cause harm. That's awesome! All I'm trying to do is have some fun speculating. Sorry if it was offensive. My motive is to build a better Valleyfair, not bring attention on me.
  22. Just asked Mr. Frazier today about running Wild Thing backwards. Unfortunately he said it wasn't designed for that. Bummer! He did say that anything is on the table when I asked about getting intimidater style trains for Wild Thing, it would depend on the engineering costs! What kind of train would everyone like for Wild Thing? One more thing, I may have some more info about 2016 in the next couple weeks! Another hint about my last word scramble, the word April is in there. So vf for Valleyfair and april! Get to work!
  23. HaHa! I happen to love Star Trek. Can't wait till they come up with another series or movie. As for as the clue goes, Captain Pickard says "Make It Happen"! False. A. It's Picard, no "k" okay? B. It's "Make it so." I stand corrected. Captain Picard say's "Make it so"
  24. HaHa! I happen to love Star Trek. Can't wait till they come up with another series or movie. As for as the clue goes, Captain Pickard says "Make It Happen"!
  25. Anyone thinking like me that there is a possibility that we may get an upcharge slingshot ride next year in addition to the waterpark expansion. There is rumor that Carowinds is getting one in addition to Fury. It would be awesome if we did. What does everyone else think. P.S. Here is a hint about my last clue, the word scramble. Actually it's a complete sentence. Valleyfair appears in the clue but only as vf. O.K. now let's get to work. You all unscrambled the last one in like a day. I was shocked! Well I made it harder this time but I am confident you all can do it.
