I just read this on "newsplusnotes" website. I looked through the new Cedar Fair website and couldn't find anything specific about Valleyfair that is recent but newsplusnotes reporting is spot-on. I'm guessing they found some other media release from Cedar Fair to draw this from. Having said that, this just reinforces the previous statements from Cedar Fair about Valleyfair. The quote is under the heading of "Cedar Fair setting a goal of reaching $500 million EBIDTA by 2018. The investors report did say they are ahead of that goal already which is good news. In order to achieve that goal Cedar Fair had a list that included the following Here it is; Maximizing the parks existing potential. The company is quite pleased with the decision to invest heavily in Carowinds, based off of early season reaction to Fury 325 and other changes. Valleyfair is again mentioned as a growing market, and the success of working on Knott's branding with "modest" capital expansions has been a home run. I really do believe that Valleyfair is next on the list to get "Carowinds style" upgrades. How much money is going to be spent? No idea! But I'm sure not many people would have guessed two years ago that Cedar Fair would be spending $50 million on Carowinds. I've been to Carowinds and sure its a nice park but before they built Fury 325 I would have preferred Valleyfair for an overall "Best Day Ever" experience. Of course Carowinds has some top notch coasters but I'm really talking about the overall experience. But just as Cedar Fair recognized that Carowinds needed some much needed TLC, I think that now they will begin to turn their attention to Valleyfair for the much needed TLC. Just my opinion, how about others opinions? -

Koppen said a few posts back that he believes that Valleyfairs new speed slide complex may be one of the best if not the best such complex in the world! I thought about that for awhile and he may be right. Yes, everyone has speed slides but Valleyfair has assembled 6 speed slides on one tower. Two 90 footers (top 10 in world for body slides), two drop floor 65 footers and two drop floor speed slides with a horizontal loop! Can anyone think of a better complex that is focused solely on speed? Two weeks to opening day! Yahoo! : -

I dont have any theories, i just find it interesting. I think it's a smart move for Valleyfair! Although I do like the steak reference. The new coaster will be called the sirloin slayer! Lol! -

Valleyfair seems to be placing a lot of emphasis on chef Luis. Anyone else find that interesting? -

Whaaat? I've always prefaced my statements by saying this was a rumor plus I've never just come out and threw a bunch of "facts" out like they were gospel. Besides, the rumors i speak of i do consider solid. It doesnt mean they will definatly happen but are a good possibility. -

ok, wow! Dont mean to sound sarcastic here but without any proof i have a hard time believing any of this. First, why? Why remove a coaster to build a parking lot? I't would be very difficult to get a permit for it and you would have to build another entrance gate. Next, we dont need another wave pool. You said this is phase two of 3. What was one? Its been many years since the current wave pool. Next, I've personally heard several solid rumors of a new coaster at Valleyfair. And lastly, in order to build a new dike you have to give up land elsewhere or prove that expanding a dike wont increase flooding elsewhere. The hurdles that have to be jumped to build a new dike system are exceedingly difficult. Im not saying it cant be done but it would be very expensive to do! Im all for healthy conversation but please dont come on this forum and throw out info like its set in stone. Is this your opinion or did you here it from someone? -

Oh my...I have had some instances where I felt like I was close to getting the Atomic Wedgie on a speed slide, but never had one try to shred my shorts before! Hopefully the new ones are a lot smoother like others have said. I love the free fall feeling experience, but don't like being bludgeoned & violated in the process. Haha! At least its a clean violation! -

Dont worry about bursting my bubble or however you said it, im a big boy and i can handle disappointment. I am free to speculate all i want plus ive heard some things that would make what i said seem like a real possibility. Valleyfair is going to get a new coaster its just a matter of when. Parks, even Cedar Fair parks, throw out hints all the time. Its called fun! Now you asked of three things the park most needs. 1. New thrilling coaster, either inverted or launched full circuit. 2. Complete bringing Soak City up to C.F. standards 3. Another thrilling coaster of any variety -

Just throwing this out. This is not official but maybe a sign. Has everyone seen the Valleyfair facebook home page lately? There is a new pic of a fairy land type of Valleyfair that looks pretty cool. You can go through it and see Power Tower, Wild Thing, Steel Venom (Wicked Twister), Renegade, Extreme Swing, etc. and then on the far left is a purple and white roller coaster with what looks to be an inversion. What is that? Could they be dropping a hint? Hmmm????? Thoughts anybody. P.S. I have not heard from Valleyfair about a coaster craze event yet but I am checking with them a couple of time a week. -

Lèts not be too down on the new splash pad. VF wants a water park that appeals to everyone in the family. If i was a betting man I'd say the old splash station only has another year or two. That area would be a great spot for an huge jungle jim with lots of features. Its the same thought when we all asked why VF is adding more speed slides when they already had two. My prediction is that entire old slide complex will be replaced with something entirely new in 2 to 3 years. -

Question for everyone. What is your opinion of Northern Lights? The whole route 76 area only cost VF around 3 - 4 million. I absolutely love it! Maybe not the most thrilling ride although the back outer seats are pretty sweet, but overall one of the more fun rides I've been on. Honestly haven't laughed so much on a ride in a long time! I give VF an "A" rating for route 76. -

Actually Valleyfairs market is quite similar to both CW and Carowinds. All three markets draw from a base of about 9 million. CW is like the Disneyland of Canada which explains its popularity. The twin cities are Charlotte metro areas are very similar in size. Carowinds has us beat when it comes to weather but that doesn't stop Cedar Point. My point is that i believe Cedar Fair knows there is a lot of growth potential with Valleyfair and i think we are seeing the ground work being done to support that. I agree that i think Valleyfair has a lot in store for us in the next few years. -

The slide looks to be repaired already! Am i just thinking this or does it look like their may be a midway path through Soak City? It sure look like they are building a path into Soak City. Maybe it will be an alternate pathway to alleviate congestion. Another sign of big things coming in my opinion! -

I was wondering the same thing. My guess is its going to be a shaded lounge area next to the slides. After all those 90 ft slides will attract an audience. -

Maybe Valleyfair should build a giant Ice Castle or Igloo as its center piece! The Igloo could house a dark ride of which we do not have. In case someone is about to respond with "What are you thinking", I'm only kidding. -

I think they may put pavers on top of the concrete. Concrete, sand, then pavers. Its looks like there is still a gap to get up to the curb level. -

I completely agree that the holding brake is awesome! There are only a few impulse coasters in existence and im not sure if any of the others still have the holding brake. Some, like wicked twisted weren't designed with a holding brake at all! This makes our SV quite unique! Plus I'm all for a paint refresh, it could really use it. On another note, the soak city expansion looks like it has been kicked into high gear! -
