  1. Here is some food for thought. If we were only getting a flyers then the delay makes no sense at all. We just found out today that the amphitheater is coming down. My guess is that Cedar Fair is making some last minute changes which i interpret as good news! Maybe they got an answer about the permit for the back of the park. I personnely think the Friday announcement was tweeted mistakenly. But that doesn't explain the delay. Something is going on and we have to wait now for a few more days. Ah well!
  2. They wait till after the state fair. Ive heard it will be at 10 am im guessing they changed it to tomorrow cause it will reach a bigger news audience then on a Saturday.
  3. JUST 2 MORE DAYS..............ER.............JUST ONE MORE DAY................ER...................THE WAIT IS ALMOST OVER!
  4. Mr. Frazier does not make the finals decisions about what Valleyfair gets. Its up to Cedar Fair. Also, how do you know this info and why do you say he hates B&M coasters?
  5. Cedar point announces their 2016 expansion today! Gee, i wonder what in the world it could be? In other, better news, ONLY 3 MORE DAYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant wait! But i guess ill have to.
  6. ValleyScare looks awesome! It's good to see them keep it fresh! With some good weather ValleyScare will really be the icing on the cake of a great year for Valleyfair. Can't wait till Saturday's announcement!
  7. JUST FOUR MORE DAYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. The work involved in that permit is quite extensive. If they get approval this year I don't see it being completed until next summer long after the park has opened for the season. It would not surprise me at all to see Excalibur removed during the off season and Thunder Canyon closed all next season for refurbishment while they remove the existing access road and build a new one to the west. All that work may even be announced this coming Saturday. We shall see!
  9. That information was from last year. I contacted Mr. Frazier about a month and half ago about it and they were removed the next day. I am a bit surprised that no new info has been posted about when those two attraction will close for the season although Valleyfair has been a bit slow updating their website and now I see the blog that was started earlier this year has been taken down too.
  10. Both of these pieces of information can be found on the Valleyfair site. You're starting to sound like coaster studios Where are you finding this information on the Valleyfair site? It's not unexpected to see Excalibur and Thunder Canyon closing on Sunday. They always close the back of the park for Haunt. I would not be surprised to see Excalibur come down after that though. Valleyfair has a history of removing rides without any fanfare or announcement.
  11. JUST 6 MORE DAYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Wow! What a tough crowd! You all sound so sad Just a week ago all the talk was about either Valleyfair isn't getting anything this year or it was about Wild Thing. Now we have a date, we know we are getting a capital improvement, and now its all "all we'll get is this or that" "So boring" Come on people lets get more creative in our speculation! Six Flags did announce a bunch of new expansions but only a couple are roller coasters. Most of the expansions are geared towards kids or another Larson Looper. Cedar Fair has already announced a few really cool expansions and more announcements are coming. I'm going to start off the optimistic speculations. Here we go! Again, these are ONLY predictions and do not come from any direct knowledge! 1. Valleyfair will begin a very comprehensive reworking of the entire back of the park in 2016. (Yes, we already guessed that, I know) Also, the amphitheater may come down finally this off season or during the 2016 operating season. 2. A new coaster is a one and half year endeavor meaning that we should look for new coaster footings to start showing up probably in July of next year if 2017 is our year for a new coaster! Where? my guess would be in the back of the park and not in the front although Mr. Ouimet stated recently in a LA newspaper that there is a couple of more parks at least that will be getting a front gate entrance coaster like Cedar Point. He did say that not all parks would get one and listed two of them. Valleyfair was not listed. He listed Canada's Wonderland and either KD or KI (Cant remember which). That leaves 7 possible parks. There is a chance for Valleyfair. 3. I do believe we may get a Flying Scooter but I would not be surprised to see us get maybe two new flats. Possibly even a Delirium clone like KD is getting. 4. I also believe we are getting another massive waterpark expansion whether or not the Army Corp of Engineers permits gets approved in time. So I think we will see at least two more water park additions in the coming years. I could see Valleyfair moving Looping starship to make way for another slide tower complex as well as replacing the old splash pad with a new large interactive water play structure. 5. Lastly, because it's Valleyfair's 40th Anniversary, I wouldn't be surprised to see more classic ride refurbishments as well as lots of promo's like bringing prices on certain items down to what they were in 1976. I really am thinking that this coming announcement will be a very pleasant surprise to everyone. I think its going to be much bigger that what most people are thinking. Again, just my thoughts. These are not based on direct knowledge just my predictions!
  13. I just spoke with Mr. Frazier while at the park. Valleyfair will announce their capital improvement for next year on September 12th! Only 10 more days! Wild Thing, first hill after drop, front seat, my butt was out of the seat for at least 3 seconds. Announcement! Wild Thing has airtime! Yeha!
  14. They aren't doing it on purpose, coasters aren't businesses. It in no way benefits efficiency, if anything a decent line makes them go faster? (Wait, maybe they're doing one train to create a line to give the ops more motivation, yeah ) My apologies I worded that wrong. I know there are reasons to run rides at reduced capacities. I meant it as I hate it when the only reason there is a line is because they are running rides at reduced capacity. To me Wild Thing aka Mild Thing doesn't have airtime or at least didn't when I rode it. To me air time is when you are out of your seat or in the air. Yes there were times where I felt lighter but my butt never lifted off the seat. Also glad to see that people that don't share the same experience as you is "stupid" Man the Valleyfair thread isn't very welcoming unless you only say positive things about the park and think they need a B&M Please give us locals some slack. I think you can see the frustration that is developing due to the lack of a new coaster. Especially an inverting coaster! It has been 38 years since our last one!
  15. I can gaurantee that Carowinds does not make enough profit to justify the expansion they have been getting the last few years. Yes, they do have a higher attendance than Valleyfair but Cedar Fair recognizes the growth potential in that region and they are doing what it takes to realize that potential. What they are doing at Carowinds makes me excited for Valleyfair because they both were pointed out by Cedar Fair as parks that will be receiving significant growth! If Valleyfair gets a multi year expansion that's even close to Carowinds then we have a lot to look forward to!
  16. Yeah, she probably showed you what it does to a true life long alcoholic. If you chug a liter of Vodka or have a couple 13, 14 drinks each day, yeah it will destroy your body. Nothing wrong with kicking back some brewskies.. Has Dr. Mom showed you what will happen to your pecker if you have sex? I would avoid that too if I were you.. Ok now lets keep this clean. There's nothing wrong with with the guy stating his opinion. If he choses not to drink thats great! If you all choose to drink thats fine. I dont drink alcohol myself. I have but never saw the appeal of it. The only thing i ask is that you all dont drink and drive. Its not worth the risk!
  17. I think captain unknown is on to something. An announcement at the coaster campout would be a perfect time. It would be very close to when Valleyfair has made their announcements that past two years. As far as Excalibur goes the second train has been missing all season. That's one legit sign that this may be its last year. I do hope they announce its last few days so people have a chance to get their last rides, but Valleyfair has a history of not making such announcements. So you better get your ride in now because tomorrow it might be shut down. I do find it interesting that the ride operator said a parking lot would be a better use of the land, interesting!
  18. No advertisement. Everytime I go to Valleyfair, before I head home, I fill up at the Super America and get a chicken tender basket from Culvers. Tradition. The dinos died once. Let's hope a B&M destroys them this time around instead of an asteroid, or whatever way scientists are preaching nowadays.. I'm starting to say B&M in my posts too much, you guys are rubbing off on me.. Lol! See? "Quit making statements like they are fact" Haha. Just kidding!
  19. Thank you for sharing that! It's pretty interesting to read. Do you remember a ride called Turbo? Its hard to explain but it was a huge flat that would come to our local fair. I rode with a friend one time who got sick while on the ride. He made it through the ride, got off, walked next to a nearby food booth and spilled his breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything else. It was pretty funny!
