  1. I understand ride op struggles. Non Disclosure Agreements make me sad. haha there's so much more I wish I could say! Also catch me at Toro Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hopefully it doesn't saddle *knocks on wood*
  2. Haha no they are. Toro is just hella moody You'd be moody too if you've been cooped up since November! No drive tires would help me! Haha basically the same as from the lift hill or break run. Except someone might have to come tie the train down in its spot so it doesn't wiggle around as the weight shifts. As for whether it was empty or not, the picture answers your question. lol I don't want to literally say in fear of getting in trouble.
  3. Im not sure how much the regular all day lockers are but the floating ride lockers cost $8 for the whole day or $1 for 2 hours. I think the $8 option is the best option.
  4. It looks to me like it's a full transfer table, so there's no reason why they can't transfer a train over then back it into the station while holding the other train on the final brakes. Granted, I've never seen a coaster transfer a new train onto the tracks and not test it immediately, so it'd likely get sent around empty regardless. But this way they can put the restraints down before they do so to make sure they're working fine. Im sure the train can be reversed backwards into the station if necessary. And trains can be transferred on and immediately be put into service. Just only if the required safety checks had been done prior. We do it all the time at GADV. Im sure other parks do that too.
  5. There is a reason... But I can't say. Lol It doesn't affect the speed of the ride though. Watch some of the first test runs in the morning though and you might just catch the lift running at its original speed
  6. Somehow I totally missed this post Ryan and I just wanted to thank you for the update on my baby. I'm really stoked to hear its been testing and there is training going on. I know I am a geek but its so close to opening I think about riding it almost every day. Nah, probably multiple times a day. OK I may have had a dream recently about waiting in the queue. Please tell me some of you guys are as bad as I am. Back to that new wood. Can we talk about wood? I don't mean to sound like an idiot here but I have some questions. Since the track is prefabricated wood stacks how to they replace/repair it? Are we talking removing entire sections where they connect and replacing them with new sections supplied by Intamin? The track sections essentially snap into place, correct? Or could we be talking about just structural beams/bents being replaced? I'm sure the track sections between each of the first three big hills really needs some work with the train more or less smashing into it but that first turnaround REALLY needs the entire track ripped out and completely replaced, it's the only ride that you CANNOT say is still smooth. Anyone have any real insight into maintaining pre-fab track/coasters as opposed to traditionally built woodies? SCHOOL A MOFO. Haha no problem man! Also the bull seems to be running faster this preseason so hopefully it'll break into summer mode a little quicker than normal. From what I can tell, they seem to cut the upper layers of the track off and replace them with new prefabricated sections. Im guessing the new sections are glued to the remaining layers of track just like the prefab track is made originally. And it seems they're using two types of wood to re-track. They're are lighter pieces of wood used on the valley between the first and second airtime hill this year as well as on the drop after the turnaround. And there is darker wood in the twister section. You can see it from the station. The darker wood is more like the original color the prefab track came in back in 2006. And yes the track pieces easily snap into place. haha But they haven't replaced an entire piece of track yet. Just the upper layers with more prefab track. Also I haven't seen any new wood on the structure yet. This pic is back from 2014 but it shows what the new wood looks like. This is the lighter wood color.
  7. There's quite a lot of TLC going on around the park this season. I'm very hopefully that a certain rumored ride gets the complete paint job it's supposed to receive. I can't say which ride unfortunately but you'll see very soon. Also almost every ride has started testing this season. (I work at the park if you're curious how I know this haha) We've moved on to training at almost every ride. Today training was going on at Nitro, Ka, Toro (my ride! Lol), Green Lantern, and quite a few more. Also if you or one of your friends wants a job or just wants to work at the park, tell them to apply! Haha we could always use more help. Especially from the coaster enthusiast community! (rides is hands down the best department lol *wink wink*)
  8. I saw some new wood around El Toro today. From what I could tell, I did not see any in the turnaround but I saw some in between the second and third hill as well as on the pullout of the crossover hill entering the twister section. There may be more however as I wasn't looking around the entire ride for new track. Also the A train's new paint absolutely looks fantastic. It hasn't been properly painted in years.
  9. I'd assume so. We'll find out in the next couple weeks. Another ride might be rumored for a paint job this spring as well It would be painted during the weekdays while the park isn't open.
  10. So that 90's attraction I was talking about before that would forever change was Blackbeard's Lost Treasure Train. It's now called Harley Quinn's Crazy Train. I think a few of you figured that out but it was funny watching all the rumors circulate.
  11. I definitely wanna try out the VR atleast once to see what it's like but other than that, I do not understand how it will work. Are these the virtual reality headsets that use Samsung phones in them? And if so, how are the phones supposed to stay charged throughout the day? haha
  12. I don't remember Chiller being painted in 2007. I know it was repainted around 2002 with the darker track and support colors, but am not remembering a 2007 repaint. I'm pretty sure they repainted Chiller in 2005. At the time, I don't think the park thought either of the two rides would be leaving anytime soon.
  13. Hey guys, so the change for this year isn't as big a deal as what you all seem to be thinking. I'd love to give more clues to what I am talking about but you will all find out during the 2016 operating season!
  14. Maybe I'm just blind, but how exactly is this tower design that much different than TTD's or KK's?? (Aside from the back of the tower being angled??) That's the only difference. It stands out to me a lot after seeing Ka and its multi-angled back support all the time. The consistent angle just makes more sense to me. Haha
  15. I'm super excited about this project. I have a feeling this new tower design will look much more pleasing than TTD/Ka.
  16. In 2016, say goodbye to one of your favorite attractions from the 90's. Hope you had time to cherish it and all its glory. #RIP
  17. It's function is to slow down the train. . . Just like any trim. It's actually there to piss of enthusiasts. GADV loves to troll.
  18. You might be on to something! *wink wink* But I wouldn't expect Blackbeard. That thing saddles more than anything.
  19. This. GADV would have probably been way better off getting a Mr. Freeze clone or a one tracked shuttle ride instead of the duel tracked.
  20. I would expect Nitro to be open. Nitro doesn't often close for high winds and I believe th park currently has a fast set of wheels running on the ride. It may open a little late if it is super windy and chilly but I would expect it to open.
  21. Random nerd question but does anyone know why Expedition Geforce's trains feature 1st and 2nd generation mega coaster trains? That front car stands out like crazy. pic from TPR haha
