  1. Looks like Goliath had another miscatch today. I found this on instagram.
  2. ^I still don't see why those seat belts are necessary. B&M has been using the same clamshell restraint since 1999 and they haven't failed anyone yet.
  3. I was working during that time actually. Thanks! haha Our crew consists of several coaster enthusiasts including myself so we're always trying our best.
  4. That looks like quite the water slide... and quite the stair climb. haha
  5. I work at El Toro haha Sorry for our slowness. If there wasn't a such thing as McDonalds, we'd be pumping trains out. Usually things are slower in the beginning of the season because everyone's in a sweatshirt and that usually complicates the situation with people who don't fit since sweatshirts add just a little to a person's bulk. Trust me though, we do have capacity in mind and we push for high numbers but guests not fitting in the seats does slow down our speed greatly.
  6. That seems like it's the hardest part of the job (for some people at least). But you have to think that the oversized riders are preparing for for that when they are standing in line. Haha the walk of shame. I've had to ask several people at El Toro to leave. It's not to bad. We blame the ride and most of the time, the person could see it coming after several tries at jamming down their lapbar. We usually give people an exit pass when they get asked to leave so that's how we avoid complaints. haha I'm not sure how the Bizarro crew handles it but probably similar to what we do.
  7. Yes, most likely because we had ice and snow in the morning. I guess but every other ride opened. And I checked midday and there was no ice. It didn't even make rest runs El Toro runs very slow in the cold when we start it up. Maintenance was probably hesitant to run it cause the first test run would probably saddle. The park actually retracked portions of the ride over the winter. I don't think anyone noticed yet but there's some new track at the top of the 2nd camel back and the turn out of the first break run into the break run before the station. It's prefabricated track too, not a cheap wooden replacement. I'm working at the ride this year and so from what I've observed, the park treats that ride like its baby. Don't worry about it falling under repair. haha
  8. I dn't think you spoke with me. I didn't talk to anyone with a nametag Ryan and luckily I've never been hit by a phone, but I have been hit been coins in the past. The two people I reported were both actively taking pictures and or filming. They were even talking about it as the train came back into the station and viewing the photos/videos from the exit ramp to the photo booth. I don't understand people with trying to film videos anymore. haha I understand with a new ride but not a ride where there's already a million videos of it on youtube, some of which that are very well done. No point in trying to film a cheesy phone pov.
  9. Don't forget Nitro. haha The ride stretches out so far out of the park that it's literally pitch black riding it at night.
  10. Hey Larry, I'm a ride op at El Toro this season. Sorry about that. Better safe than sorry, right? Most of our crew this year is brand new so we're all getting into the groove of things. Give us some time and we'll be golden. I realize the crew will get better over time, traditionally the El Toro crew is top notch. I've just never seen it so bad opening weekend before. Granted I was only at El Toro for 90 minutes this morning. I completely understand the better safe than sorry issue. My bigger issue, the attendant at the ride entrance was not stopping people with bags and all these people complained and held up trains once they got to the station. On my last ride, the guy in front of me rode El Toro with his Six Flags refillable bottle filled with Coke. Well not the whole ride since he spilled half of it on his pants. You figure the ride op would see the bottle in his hand when he was checking restraints. Lastly, a lot more idiots taking their phones out during the ride this year, someone will lose an eye if they get hit. After two rides, I told one ride op about two different people doing it and he didn't respond. Yeah, I noticed several people with phones out while I was working. Most of them were just trying to hold onto their precious iPhones it seemed rather than for filming, but I told everyone I caught to put them away. haha Someone on one of the trains addressed me about someone getting hit with a phone the year prior. I'm not sure if that was you or not. Also, we were having issues with lapbars not unlocking Saturday. We only had one train for most of sunday because of that.
  11. No, I worked saturday until like 3. I was checking the trains. That was probably one of my supervisors though. haha

  13. The super fast El Toro we're all used to is actually quite the opposite on a cold morning test run. A train filled with test dummies will nearly saddle on the rolling thunder hill (absolutely no fart noise is made) and last hill into the break run. It's scary but interesting to watch. Maintenance has even installed two tire drives at the peak of the hill into the break run to assist trains that might saddle. The tire drives are removed during the summer months when the ride runs at a consistent speed but they are reinstalled in the spring and later fall months.
