  1. Welp I'm basing it on the last 15 years or so of Six Flags' flagship parks such as Gradv and MM. Neither park saw the attendance numbers they had in the 90's despite adding huge attractions like X2, KK, Goliath, El Toro, Tatsu etc; If those rides couldn't help grow the parks attendance back to their peaks, what makes you think they'll continue to install costly attractions as such? There isn't this huge window that regional parks have of potential guests. Six Flags parks for the MOST part attract locals, moreso than even certain Cedar Fair parks. So you're asking me to prove you wrong, yet you're making a baseless statement yourself. Gradv is "broke", okay what the actual f**k? It's a well-known fact that Six Flags as a whole is more or less broke, this has been the case for a long time, and they decide when SFGAdv gets major additions, not the park itself. That's not a baseless statement. Attendance records alone don't support the claim that SFGAdv shouldn't or won't continue to make major coaster additions when possible. Their aim is always going to be growing their attendance numbers, and how do you propose they do that outside of major additions? You expect a huge corporation like SF to throw up their hands and say "Welp, the park is as popular as it's ever gonna get, guess we'll just give up and install carnival rides from now on"? That doesn't make any sense. People? Or YOU? To be 100% Gradv doesn't give a f*** about YOU. Their main concern is the GP who spend dollars in their park. The average Joe has not seen or ridden a 4d free spin, it's been getting great reviews at SFFT and that's more than likely why Gradv is moving forward with one. Not because YOU approve Calm down dude, my whole point is this isn't worth arguing about. When did I, or anyone, say SFGAdv cares what we think? And why do YOU care so much what I think? It doesn't effect you at all. Everyone has the right to their opinion, and this particular opinion has about ten years of history behind it. I'm not criticizing anyone else for being excited for the new ride, so why should I have to be criticized for being not-so-excited? I can and WILL tell you that you're wrong. Like that commercial says "you're now free to fly about the country." If you don't like what Gradv is putting in, simply go to a park that has something that intrigues you. Is it really worth all this energy? It sounds a bit like you need to take a walk, get some fresh air. I actually don't care what you think, you quoted ME Einstein... You came at me aggressively, so I replied aggressively. Not rocket science.
  2. So if RMC does an I-box on TT, does that mean the structure will be 100% steel?
  3. My thoughts are with her parents too, I can't imagine what it must feel like to see your child go through something like this.
  4. Not sure it's heat related, it wasn't hot today in L.A.
  5. Oh man, I really hope this isn't another ride accident. But I hope even more that the child will be okay

  7. I fail to see what's so "ghetto", looked like a fairly decent carnival. And fyi that guy with the cornrows looks nothing like Snoop Dogg, maybe favors Xzibit a bit however.
  8. What a time capsule, love it
  9. I think the economic downturn changed the way amusement parks go about additions. And in Six Flags case, though the days of $20 million coasters are over they still manage to bring in awesome thrills with smaller budgets. The RMCs, Justice Leagues, Premier launchers, and 4d Free Spin have all gotten great reviews. And say what you will about Gradv having not added any major coasters since El Toro, but truth is they really haven't had the need for them. After adding Ka in 2005 they've pretty much had steady attendance numbers without much decline, and in fact 2013-2014 were the highest attendance figures since Ka's debut...without a major addition. At this point in time, Six Flags' flagship parks are all well-established and reached their potential growth peaks sometime in the 90's. There really isnt a need any longer to sink exorbitant amounts of money into expansions when the potential for substantial growth is no longer there.
  10. It's amazing how complex KK and TTD are, it's no wonder they break down frequently
  11. I felt like Blue Streak was 10x better than Mean Streak. It was smoother, more foreful, and had that classic woodie feel.
  12. I'm also glad El Toro is the sole Intamin woodie in the U.S. Just makes it that much more special knowing that there aren't 6 other Six Flags parks with them. Kinda makes you wonder how different Batman the ride might be perceived if it was never cloned. I feel like it'd be a "Top 10" ride
  13. Why would KD get a hyper when they already have a giga?? Unless it was a hyper with wing rider trains and a few inversions.
  14. Paying the extra $$ to fly into Burbank is definitely worth it. The park is closer and you won't hit much traffic going northbound on the 5 in the morning
  15. Goldstriker! It was amazing, so wild and outta control
  16. Interesting Screamscape rumor... "2016 - Hyperdrive / New Roller Coaster - Rumor - (6/10/15) For anyone wondering, and for everyone who sent this tidbit in… Six Flags has sent out surveys to many people that allow you to pick your regular Six Flags park, and apparently all, or nearly all, will ask your opinion of adding an S&S 4D Free Fly coaster to your local park, so the survey about Hyperdrive itself for Six Flags Great Adventure doesn’t mean it is going there. That said… I have been getting rumors over the past week, before hearing about this survey, that the S&S 4D Free Fly coaster was being seriously considered for SFGAdv… I just didn’t believe it in enough to post about it at the time because of the low capacity problem. Meanwhile, one of our sources did provide us with another clue about the SDGAdv installation proposal, claiming that this version would be a little different from the prototype built for Fiesta Texas. This second version would actually be about 20 feet taller, a little longer and would revise the loading platform to include cars moving through a continuously moving loading platform to help increase capacity and keep things always moving"

  18. ^The only thing that makes me wonder is, weren't GASM and Shockwave taken down because of some type of structural/track problems? I wonder if Viper will eventually succumb to the same type of problems. The ride has already been braked to death, and I'm assuming it's because the ride was ripping itself apart.
  19. I'd love to see MM do a Phantom's Revenge makeover on Viper. Remove all the inversions and turn them into airtime hills. Viper is such an iconic ride to people like me who grew up in the 90's. It was big, it was bad, and it was intimidating because it sits on a hill and appears about 30ft taller than it actually is. That being said, I havent ridden the ride in about 3 years, its gotten rough and somewhat slow with all trim brakes.
  20. If Demon rides anything like Demon at CGA, avoid it like the plague
  21. In general, I think rainy days are excellent times to go because attendance will decrease. Do a google search for "magic mountain rainy day" and you will find a trip report. That being said, there is only a 20% chance of rain tomorrow. the weather channel shows me a 30% chance, but only at 10am. looks like the rest of the day will be just cloudy...and 84-88. yuck so i'm sure the rain will be nothing to be worried about. If it rains in the morning the park will be so dead, lucky day
