Awesome good to know. I just checked and it was a Friday last year, I was pissed because I had the opportunity to go but figured it would be rammed, and then afterwards found out from multiple sources it was a ghost town all day. I just searched back through this thread and it seems most years July 4th is fairly quiet.

Can anyone talk about experiences going to GAdv on July 4th? My first instinct is that it would be insanely crowded but I know last year it was deserted (though it rained that morning) and I would imagine for the most part folks do BBQ's and whatnot as opposed to going to the park. We are thinking about going that day. Obviously this depends on weather and this year will also be different as it falls on a Saturday - I think it was a Monday last year. If you've been in years past, let me know how it was.

@coasterbill why I am always liking your posts? lol The only Morgan I've done is Steel Force but agreed 100% the airtime was insane on Magnum. Its good on SF, but Magnum was another level. Such a great ride, immediately into my top 10. Ive heard boatload of complaints about the lapbars and I dont know if I just accidentally did the seatbelt trick or what but the lapbar didnt bother me at all. Maybe I just have meaty thighs lmao. -
Yeah I still have only been to the park once this year for CAD, seriously itching right about now. I'm trying to plan out a hooky day on a weekday in July and will probably just run to Namtab as soon as I get in the park to check it out. I'm guessing the park has to do the normal amount of testing once the backwards trains go on? Anyone have any insight into how long that has taken at the other parks?

^ I saw it in the SFGAdv Connoisseurs FB group, had to go back and do a search. Two people posted about it on Sunday and Monday, both said the same thing that "it was the last day to ride before the conversion". That group is good to find out whats going on at the park but just about anyone and everyone can post there (especially folks that are hardly "connoisseurs"), so take it for what its worth.

^^ Sounds like you guys a had a good time. We have a great park and the more I travel the more I realize that. Glad you go to experience the amazing Bull. Did you get a chance to do Bizarro or Skull Mountain? I think I might be Skull Mountains biggest fan lol. Agreed about Dragster/Kingda Ka. You really can't tell the difference in speed/height imo. I've ridden Ka a bunch and Dragster only once and Dragster was light years better than Ka, mostly because of the restraint. Its amazing how much difference it makes. It also felt smoother on the launch to me, I think because of the more aerodynamic train design on Dragster.

The "perfect" roller coaster

There is one answer to this question and that is "Maverick". -

I'm sorry I wasn't directing that at you, I was just asking in general. I think every park I've been to (which is not very many) has allowed us to do this. So my question still stands. -

^ Yes. Are there any parks that don't do this? -

Thanks for the kind words about the report everyone, it sort of wrote itself lol. Almost a month out and I'm missing CP hardcore. It might be that I haven't ridden any coasters in a few weeks or that I just re-read some of this report or maybe its just that I'm sitting in work bored out of my skull right now but I would kill to go on Maverick/Millennium/Magnum/Gatekeeper/Blue Streak/Gemini/Raptor RIGHT NOW. -

And just by posting about it, you could say you are complaining about other people complaining about other people complaining. -

This board is seriously overdue for a word filter for Super and/or Larson Loops. Something along the lines of "I have nothing better to post except to complain about something everyone else has already complained about that was never really worth complaining about in the first place" would work nicely. -

Yeah, I'm one of the few who like Mind Eraser. First or second seat FTW! Apocalypse sucks bad. I want to like it, but just can't. I think I've just built up a tolerance to SLC's after spending so much time over the years @ Morey's. I understand why they get a bad rap but its kind of a you-rode-one-you-rode-em-all thing. As long as you know the layout and what to expect you can ride defensively and enjoy a fairly intense ride. -

Mind Eraser was pleasant compared to Apocalypse. -

OMG Wild One. !!! All the way. Personally Ride Of Steel is my fave at the park but Wild One might be what I think is one of the most criminally underrated coasters period. It's a really great ride for being so old and at a SF park, for some reason they take care of it. I rate very highly. It has decent to great airtime throughout the ride, some crazy unexpected laterals and the double helix is totally bonkers. And to top it off it's historically significant or whatever. Sit in the back. Also, you should do this because Apocalypse sucks.
