  1. I think sometimes the Golden Ticket awards celebrate the newest attractions and technology rather than get into what is actually the best experience. I do think Spider-man is better as well, and I haven't even been on it since the update.
  2. It's just a file name. It was probably the first page they setup and didn't rename it, and then just left it because links pointed to it. I don't understand whats wrong about the photo, other than that they didn't do a clean job taking the logo out. Those haunt pages kinda fail. The background images aren't tall enough, the red content isn't perfectly centered horizontally, and it should center vertically as well.
  3. Sounds like it but to be sure... (661) 255-4100
  4. Super hard to see any cuts from that photo. It does appear that the tower in the middle of the turn is gone now.
  5. While Magnum and Goliath are closest in height, it's really apples and oranges other than that. I think Magnum should have gotten the win. Goliath should have been compared to MF though, and Cedar Point still gets the win. They probably should have paired up Magnum and Viper, also apples and oranges really, but a bit more fair of a comparison. Also, how old is that? I thought it was old when they showed Deja VU, but then they have Green Lantern on it.
  6. I've been to all the US Disney Parks multiple times. My favorite would have to be Disneyland I guess. I have yet to go to DCA since the update, but will in just about a week. Disneyland just seems to have the best attractions and Fantasmic is always amazing there. Disney World just seemed underwhelming on my last trip. MK always does since I really do like Disneyland better in direct comparison, but the other parks did as well. Even MGM which was my favorite for a while. I just don't care for the small number of unique major attractions at each of the parks and having been there before many of the other ones are passable (I didn't watch a single circle vision!!!!). Disneyland has Indy, Roger Rabbit. Matterhorn, Thunder, Space, Star Tours, Buzz, Pirates, Splash among all the other things. While smaller than Disney World it is better value.
  7. People always talk about the lack of plant life in the area, maybe they are following what Disney did with Maliboomer. The splash down would make a nice Koi pond and the bridge a good viewing/feeding platform. The area where the lift and drop was could then be used for some benches and some planters with nice trees. They could put a decent number of trashcans there swell. Disney and Magic Mountain did it, Knotts needs one too!
  8. Yeah and Knotts' sister park CGA didn't announce Gold Striker until well after construction had started, although we all knew what it was already. I kinda hope they don't, it's a better surprise that way!
  9. Since they started deconstruction so fast, I think they will start construction pretty soon after the tear down of PP is finished. The area is pretty much flat, and they are reusing the pool, so they know exactly what they are working with. When it came to tearing out Log Jammer, my bet is that they had to tear it out to do the survey of the area. There probably hadn't been a survey of that space since before 1971. I wonder if they will announce before it starts to become apparent what it is.
  10. Oh cool, didn't know about the fast pass line thing. They open at 10 so getting there by 9 shouldn't be too hard, lol.
  11. ^ They all come in alcoholic beverage style cups too! With maybe the exception of the princess cup, but that is too kinda.
  12. Wow this is good news. I thought they wouldn't start taking it down so soon, but this means that the replacement is well on it's way and we should know about it pretty soon.
  13. I've actually seen people hop over the wall right there under Medusa's brake run while the park was open. I've always wondered how much security a place like this has when they aren't open, and now I know it's pretty much nothing.
  14. Kinda lame it's going to be down since I'm going in a few weeks. Indy isn't the reason I'm going though and I still haven't decided if I'm getting a park hopper or not. They don't have Fantasmic weekdays either now. While I'm here... what do you guys think crowds will be like on the 17th? Apparently it's a day where hotel guests get into DCA an hour early or something... Does that mean fast passes will be taken already and the line for RSR already 2 hours?
  15. Giovanola continued to use that track design afterwards, just look at Goliath, Titian, and some other rides they built around that time. I'm not too sure about this, but I think B&M continued to work with Giovanola right up until they merged with them. Also intamin didn't build Giovanola rides, Giovanola was building rides under the Intamin name.
  16. Why are you twisting what I'm saying and making a bigger deal out of it? All I was saying was that I think they were influenced by Universal in doing this (sharktums agreed), and then tried to make my point a bit clearer in that Universal's reason for the drink, and the drink itself it truer to its 'universe.' The only reason I knew that Carsland had a version of the drink is because the article mentioned it, and I had to Google it to see what they were talking about. If I am a 'fanboy' of anything I've mentioned here it would be Harry Potter at universal.
  17. Butterbeer at Universal is an emulation of a drink purely from the books/movies that tried to be true to as possible without alcohol. This drink at Disney is a emulation of a real world drink, that is nothing at all like the real thing. Thats all I meant. I know beer has a strong presence in film, but i think including a themed drink for kids in collector cups was absolutely because of butter beer. They serve this at Cars Land in clear plastic cups and it doesn't try to be anything.
  18. Funny how they copied Universal with those drinks. It doesn't even make all that much sense. Butterbeer is a drink from the books specifically. This is just fake beer for the sake of having a themed drink.
  19. These are no doubt classic rides, they were the beasts of their era. Yeah, these things aren't too different than woodies that are being built today, besides recent trends like 90deg banks n stuff, but they are rides that were the biggest and best when they were built. I remember seeing tons of photos of the Texas Giant where the track crosses over the lift when I was younger and becoming an enthusiast. Sure they weren't built in the 1940s but they are (were?) certainly classics of the modern era of woodies, and a whole new era of wooden style coasters is just beginning.
  20. It's finally happening!!! AQUATRAX!! But seriously, I think a small dive coaster still fits the bill here. It would be cool if they made it into more of a true water ride too, like the splash down actually got you a little wet. Including straight up drenching people on the bridge.
  21. One of the ride ops already sold it on eBay.
  22. The first thing I thought when watching this was how much it would suck it work this attraction. Having to repeat this over and over all day every 5 minutes or whatever and be all cheery n whatnot would drive me crazy. I've had jobs that were much more repetitive than this, but they allowed me to zone out if I needed to. These people have to be on it the whole time. I know there are a lot of crazies at Disney though that probably will love the job. I'm sure they rotate and stuff though and not be in the same spot for an 8 hour day, but this looks like one of those attractions where they expect you to be a robot.
  23. The technology, theming, and all around encompassing experiences that Disney has been creating recently are simply amazing. While this probably isn't something I'd ever do if I went to the park unless I was with some kids, the details are incredible. I hope they keep this standard for attractions in the future. Looks like they had some problem with that water wheel, they cut a huge chunk out of it.
  24. I think a large part of that is due to how stagnant this park has been over the past 10 years or so. Parks need to get updates every so often to keep peoples interest and get in the local media and all that, and Great America really hasn't been doing that. Then taking rides out because of peoples lack of interest in the park is only going to make things worse. I think this new coaster and the football stadium being right there could help this place out a lot.
  25. One interesting thing to note is that B&M only have 2 confirmed projects so far for 2013. They like to have at least 3 projects a year, and everything for 2012 was built and started operating a while ago. There are probably 1 or 2 projects coming from them that we don't know about yet. It could be Knotts but other than a compact dive I'm not sure what else they could get from them for this location. A dive would be cool but next to Xcelerator, which would probably be taller and already has a vertical drop, I'm not sure how visually impressive a dive machine would be sitting right next to it. As far as an Intamin Divertical thing, something like that could work, but it would have to be unlike any that we have seen so far. If it had a long sloping drop right off the lift like the ones that exist, I don't think there would be enough space. One that goes directly into a twisting roller coaster section might work though. When it comes to getting one of these, I'm not sure it makes sense to take a ride out and put something so similar in its place. Yeah PP isn't a coaster, but I don't think they could put something in that has a such a huge coaster section that it would be incredibly different overall.
