  1. This is the last thing I'm gonna say about it because it's off topic but, I don't think it was just a test location. The first reason is because TGE is in a very touristy location and the Adirondacks and lake George are popular all year round. The lodge wasn't really built to benefit the park it was to tap into the year round tourism to the area. The second is TGE has the shortest operating season in the whole chain so maybe SFI added it so The property could make money all year round regardless of weather.
  2. When TGE lodge opened SFI didn't own all of it. Other companies owned part of it but recently SFI bought up the remaining shares so they are now the sole owner of the hotel. And yes The lodge is nothing like what you would expect from six flags. Whoever they have at the helm actually knows how to run a hotel. That and SFI invests the required money to keep it up and looking good. It's much like the entire great escape park. Yeah It is owned by six flags but it's nothing like the other parks.
  3. The Comet is a different coaster in the rain, I love it and it's by far my favorite coaster in the rain. It's even gotten to the point where when I know it's gonna rain but it's not gonna thunder or lightning I do all I can to get to the park. If I'm in the park and it starts raining I made a B line for the comet. I can't really say I've been on any other coasters in the rain because besides TGE I try to plan my visits around weather
  4. I could be wrong but that;s around the same time The great escape lodge was in planning/building. Maybe There was suppose to be a hotel and SFI decided to send it to TGE or maybe they just scratched the great adventure one to focus more money and time on TGE's
  5. Anyone see this article? I would pay money to be able to walk down those steps! http://elitedaily.com/news/world/six-flags-roller-coaster-stuck/694402/
  6. They are required by law to give you tap water if you request it, They often give you a cup big enough for one swallow but you can keep having them fill it up. That's at least the law in NY
  7. I'm usually pretty greedy with line times. I am spoiled at my home park TGE. Often times I can go around my usual circuit Of Comet, Bobsled, Boomerang and Sasquatch in under a hour if I hustle. Most days I don't have to wait for comet at all. So when I go to other parks 30 minutes seems outrageous but 45 minutes is usually my cap at new parks
  8. Idk what you're talking about with Tree Cover. It really has horrible shade and not many trees IMO
  9. That could actually be a really good observation about the batman clone thing. They keep on stressing urban renewal, maybe the rockville area will be rebranded as Gotham city. That would explain why they have to close the rockville area early. And the motorama clsoing will house the areas showpiece attraction of gotham city, Batman the ride.
  10. Thank you! that worked!

    SQL error?

I can't get to the fourm site from google chrome. I get this error The werid thing is I can get on to the fourm from Inconginito mode on chrome, Mozilla firefox and Internet explorer. Any idea what's causing this? I may have to change browsers but I prefer chrome over all others.
  12. Right after the new trains were put on, I rode it 11 times in a row. I'm sure if I was crazy that night or I was in the sweet spot for the restraints sizewise.
  13. This has always been my argument with SF since new management took over. They choose to open rides later than the park. It really pisses me off when I see radio ad's that say "Come back later for New England Sky Screamer." Thats like a huge slap in the face for people who aren't season pass holders. Look at it this way you have a family of 4 and you don't have season passes and you go to the park once a year. Imagine if they decide to go before they opened a ride, would you be mad? Not everyone is season pass holders and not everyone can just "come back" Six flags in their Ignorance think that opening rides later in the season is just going to make people simply come back later in the season and ride it. But in reality they are just hurting themselves in the early season. People aren't going to simply buy another admission ticket after the rides open, they are just going to wait to visit until after that ride opens which can sometimes be weeks or months after the park opens. The thing that really makes me mad is when you go in the early season before the said new ride opens and the ride looks 100% completed. Like at TGE 2 years ago they opened a larson flying scooters 3 weeks after the park opened. That ride is one of the most simple flat rides out there and on opening day it was 100% completed but the ride area was plastered with signs saying "opening June 3rd or whatever the date was" They even posted a video on FB of the ride testing with people on it weeks before opening.
  14. I think people are bashing Jim Reid Anderson unfairly. After SFI went bankrupt He was brought in for one reason and one reason only. That is to turn the company around and help them get out of bankruptcy. As far as I see the company is not bankrupt and they are posting strong revune numbers. But corporate really has nothing to do with customer service. What corporate is suppose to do is set the park up with opportunists for the park to do well in terms of capitol investment. What I agree with is ridding the park presidents. Employee training is in their hands. The park president can set the tone of the employees and in tern the park. They obviously haven't done good enough training employees.
  15. The Comet, Great Escape. It was build it 1947. But the steel supports date back to the 20's!
  16. The trains have been removed. the track immediately following the station has been removed. And all the air gates have been removed and are sitting on the exit ramp. Check out Sfne online for pics, I can't post the link it gets x'd out
  17. Cyclone is 112 feet that's a 20 foot difference from the balloon. Not to mention Cyclone is about to fall down, there is no way it would make a move across the country without new supports. Enough said it's not happening.
  18. It's announcement day!! All coaster enthusiasts were thrilled to hear what was happening. Many enthusiasts around the world met at the park. The radio media showed up to interview people. News Host:"Welcome to Station 4 12 Noon news. Today we're here at Walaba Lake Park, which is announcing its prototype attraction, according to parks spokesman." Harold Williamsburg: "Yes, we are very pleased to unfold our new attraction which will join our amazing lineup of rides, including the world class Walaba Lake Flitzer. Please tune in to the radio at 6 PM tonight for the huge news." News Host: "Many enthusiasts are staring at that podium, anxious to see what happens. Henry Fitzgerald is a coaster enthusiast, but is excited for this regular ride nonetheless." Henry: "It's always cool to see parks add newer and more futuristic attractions. Especially a park like Walaba who makes the most money I've ever seen in this depression in one place." News Host: "As you can see, many wait anxiously, and 6 hours will slowly roll by. Tune in tonight at 6 PM for the HUGE announcement. Freddie Boxer, station 4 news." 6 hours later... Harold Williamsburg: "Welcome guests, locals, enthusiasts, and the media to the unveiling of a new attraction here at Walaba Lake Park! We are pleased to add a ride to our line up, and we're sure it won't disappoint. Before we announce the ride experience, I just want to say this ride will make you nauseous. It will make you queasy. It will make you sick by just looking at it! This ride is intense. The most intense flat ride the world has seen! Now, onto our new attraction... OUR NEW ATTRACTION IS CALLED THE TILT-A-WHIRL!!" (Crowd screams with joy and excitement) "This experience is truly horrifying, and high tech. Get in an enclosed tub and spin over dips and hills! Every hill, the more spinning you do! Feel amazing force against the seat as your tub spins crazily! Coming Spring 1933!" Guests were amazed and couldn't wait for the new attraction.
  19. Okay what I was trying to say is nobody knows how well this coaster is gonna fair reliability wise, everyone thinks it's gonna be up to par with the reliability of all the other B&M's. It could very well be every bit as reliable as other b&ms but I just can't see the launch not having problems.
  20. As reliable as B&M is you can't judge this ride at all. Every single other B&M has the standard lift hill (besides Hulk which doesn't count). You can't expect this ride to have good reliability, after all B&M has never tinkered with a launch. For all we know the launching mechanism could be plagued with problems. After all a launch is much more complex than a standard lift hill. Trust me I don't think B&M would ever put something on a coaster that would cause reliability issues unless they were 100% sure it would work. I think everyone should just wait and see how the reliability is after year one of operation.
  21. If you look at SFNE's park map there is a small ACE logo located directly on cyclone's station. Maybe that could mean something
  22. I made a pretty cool wooden coaster layout. I don't know if I will be continuing with this project, such as adding terrain and trees and more detailed station stuff. Any feedback on whether this layout is cool or if I should just start over on a new layout
  23. So apparently the park thinks that what ever is coming to the park next year is going to be bigger than SROS was? She also said it would be better than all of the things the park added the last few years combined
  24. Happy Cyclone's last day of operation as a wood coaster day!!
  25. I think it's really kind of dumb, look at all the coasters that use T-bars and have had no injuries or deaths. I think the state was looking for a scapegoat for the accident that wasn't there
