Insane Coaster Wars Season 3
VF15 replied to CPSFMMCW's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Watching the new Insane Coaster Wars episode right now. The show narrator doesn't sound very enthusiastic compared to in the previous seasons, which is kind of funny because I thought he used to be too enthusiastic, but I do like the coasters that are being featured. I knew that Iron Rattler was going to win the first one. -

Well, Valleyfair honestly really needs the waterpark expansion because it is the worst waterpark in the Cedar Fair chain. I don't think Soak City is awful like some people say, but it's outdated and needs something new to keep people visiting. I only visit Soak City if it's sweltering hot. As for a new coaster, I think that is more likely to happen than an Excalibur revamp because an Excalibur revamp probably wouldn't be worth it because it is one of the least popular attractions in the park, and I personally think that it will be gone within the next ten years, regardless of if that land is used for a new coaster. CF mentioned that VF is one of three parks slated for significant growth, and I think that means a new coaster will happen in the near future. -

According to VF and Dave Frazier on Twitter, the flooding in the parking lot is receding, and cars can now park in the main lot. That's a step in the right direction. Hopefully they can get Renegade, Excalibur, and Thunder Canyon open in time for the Fourth of July weekend, but I have no idea how long the ride inspections will take. I'd hate to see the park lose revenue on such a big weekend. -

The main rumor I've heard is that VF is going to get a slide package from White Water West, and they made the Snake Pit that went to Dorney Park this year, so a Snake Pit could definitely happen at VF. Also, I'd be all for repainting the current slides because they are honestly an eyesore to look at. -

^ I always thought that a Windseeker might be able to fit there, but until those become more reliable, I don't see CF purchasing another one. If there is something going there, it probably won't happen next year because the waterpark expansion seems inevitable at this point. Also, does anyone know if the flooding situation at the park has improved? -

^ Well, the past few years have been focused on B&M for Cedar Fair, but I wouldn't say that their relationship with Intamin is over just yet. Keep in mind that Intamin has made some of the chain's most famous coasters (MF, TTD, i305, etc.) I'm not saying that Cedar Fair is going to get "Intamin crazy" soon, but it still might be a little early to say that CF-Intamin is dead. -

Though I'm a person that really likes B&M inverts, I guess I can see why you'd say that. Yeah, there are better ride types out there, but I think that an invert would just be perfect for VF because it would give it a modern steel coaster with inversions, and an invert would definitely be a GP pleaser. I like B&M hypers too, but since we already have a hypercoaster (Wild Thing), it's unfortunately not going to happen. A Maverick-type ride likely won't be VF's next coaster, but maybe it could happen later on down the line (maybe in 7-8 years or so), since VF is one of the three parks with significant growth potential. -

^ Yeah, crowds will probably be light because of the flooding. Keep in mind that if you go when the forecast is bad, there is a chance that the park may close early if the weather becomes bad enough. It stinks that you won't be able to ride Renegade, but Steel Venom and Wild Thing are two really fun coasters, so try to have fun despite the less-than-ideal conditions. -
