Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Less than 10 weeks until opening day, and still no word on even if trees and trashcans will take the former place of the scrambler yet. It's also somewhat interesting to note about Cedar Point's late announcement of the slingshot. Whether that means anything... -
^This doesn't surprise me all that much. The ride is extremely jerky going around the corners on the upper half. When I was at the park a few years ago, one of the wheels fell off and a car valleyed. Beyond that, I'm just unimpressed with Mt. O with this coaster. They could have built a Vekoma Roller Skater and they go for a portable mouse coaster with mouse cars. The entire indoor park just has no consistency in themeing.

Fans are upset that Valleyfair isn't adding a big coaster this year. Real fans are upset that Route 76 isn't going to have a Flyers immediately. Yeah, I'm pissed that VF is waiting to add a coaster, but I have accepted that it will not come until 2016. 2015 will be the waterpark expansion based on all the moves that they've done in the past few months (relocating Tilt-a-Whirl, Removing IMAX, Hydroblaster rumored removal). I have even heard of a possible name for the coaster: Centurion. I know Screamscape linked the name to Carowinds' 2015 Giga, but the name needs a red coaster. And Carowinds already has Intimidator. And for everyone who wants to yell that CGA's Flight Deck is being repainted red this offseason, I'm aware of that. Cedar Fair is not afraid to reuse names, though not as much as Six Flags. *Cough* Goliath *Cough* -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did Boomerang get one of the new Vekoma trains in the past 3 years or so? I'm heading out to WOF & SDC next June and curious as to the answer. -

And if Morgan does come back to add a ride maybe they could also update and design some new trains for Wild Thing similar to what happened with Steel Dragon 2000 as part of the package. Kind of like what Zamperla is doing with selling the park Northern Lights plus refurbishing Scrambler and Tilt-A-Whirl for next year. It will be interesting to see how Lighting Run turns out, hopefully it's a fun ride. That package to which you are referring: did include the B&M trains? Or was it a different package? -

With IMAX being burned and then demolished, Route 76 announced with three relocated (and refurbished) rides, and now Screamscape has posted the rumor of Hydroblaster's demise. http://www.screamscape.com/html/valleyfair.htm What are they doing? And more importantly, when? -

Where did you hear that? Screamscape a year or two ago. I think it was on Kings Dominion's page. The Coaster Critic also copied it and wrote a bit on it http://www.thecoastercritic.com/2012/11/rumor-cedar-fair-remove-arrow-looping-coasters.html I'm not going to complain about a lack of this. -
For their next major coaster (maybe in 2016/2017), I could see them adding a coaster that queues where Deja Vu once stood and have a 350 ft. Giga-Coaster that travels down to X2 and back and filled with airtime. They would break the coaster length, Tallest non-launched coaster, Fastest non-launched coaster, and fastest non-launched coaster records.

My biggest questions about Route 76 are: Why didn't they add a flyers? And what is going into Scrambler/Tilt-a-Whirl's old spots? And even with the new area, there's still a bunch of empty space between Enterprise's entrance and new scrambler location. And this may be just me, but I don't think that the RipCord will stay around much longer. I think that they may be removing the amphitheater and relocating/removing Enterprise to build a family coaster that could utilize the rest of the area including Wild Thing's other teardrop turnaround. I think Enterprise would be relocated to either Scrambler's old spot (though I see flyers going here), or remove Wheel of Fortune and place it there. As for Scrambler's old spot, I'd love to see a Zamperla Air Race. Now the big question is what will be our 2015? Cedar Fair has basically said that one coaster will be replaced from each park within the next three years. Corkscrew will most likely be it for us. I see the Wave and Ferris Wheel leaving with it. Whatever replaces Corkscrew should use that crescent shaped lake better than our old Arrow looper. 2016 I see a waterpark expansion which will call for the removals of Looping Star(Viking)ship, Hydroblaster and the Imax theater. We could use some more thrill slides there and a kiddy area that is actually worth the space. When Excalibur goes, I see a family launch coaster similar to the Premier Back Lot Stunt Tracks at KD, KF, and CW. And last but not least, when Dinos go (I've heard that the lease expires in 2018, anyone know more concrete details?), we could add a small area with some flat rides, or (more likely), something similar to an Intamin Mega-Lite. Since that won't take up the entire area, how about a Huss Giant Frisbee?
