  1. Man if it's an Intamin multi launch this is going to be really good. I know at that same presentation a spokesperson from Ildewild said the Parques Renidos is starting to spend some significant cash in the parks due to a change in ownership and company philosophy.
  2. I'm honestly not the biggest fan of Carowinds, my experiences there have felt like it's more a Six Flags park with a Cedar Fair name. However if they are getting a Mack coaster and it's not spinning haha then this is on my must visit list in 2019.
  3. Lakemont isn't open at all in 2018
  4. Have you guys seen this yet? https://www.cedarpoint.com/tickets-passes/passholder-ride-nights Summary plenty of ride nights for passholders 7 different nights for platinum pass holders and 2 nights for regular and platinum pass holders!
  5. At ACE's annual CoasterBash event in March Kennywood said that it would be pretty hard to hide what they were doing in that area of Log Jammer. I'd find it hard to believe that turnpike coming back would be a big construction project as well. Should be interesting to see. Anyone know a timeline of when Thomas Town is supposed to open, seems they have a long way to go and just a few weeks left before park opening.
  6. Here's my thoughts on TT opening with the park,, it's looking pretty good. I'm going to media day for the ride and have already received 2 emails about details and times, with one of those emails coming this morning. I know a media event can still be canceled last minute, but I would assume if they were foreseeing any issues within the next 2 weeks they wouldn't be sending these confirmations. So as of right not everything looks on track for a day one opening.
  7. Hey everyone how is opening day for the park usually crowd wise? I'm not looking for an answer of oh it's dead haha I know it's opening day and probably busy I just don't want dick to ass busy. We're not in dire need of riding anything in particular just see some shows drink some beer you know that kind of thing haha. With Battle for Eire looking like it's not going to be ready for opening we've been on everything else before we'll just be in the area because of Twisted Timbers Media Day so trying to decide between going here or somewhere like SFGAdv on Saturday. Leaning towards BGW obviously unless it's crazy super busy on opening day.
  8. Hey any locals know what's going on Sept 21st at magic mountain? I see the hours are 1030-8 instead of the 1030-6 which is almost every other weekday hours and the isitpacked crowd calendar has it as a busy day. Seems bizarre for a Thursday in the middle of September. Was planning on visiting the park this day but wondering if I should adjust the schedule if it's a school holiday or something?
  9. So not to detract from all the talk of Steel Vengeance which by the way looks amazing, can't wait! The middle and last lap will be insane, and the beginning will be no slouch either, looks to be a complete ride. But I know everyone's fascination with "the boat" on here, and while attending yesterday's announcement event we parked near the marina. Walking back to the car I noticed this. Yup that's the aftermath of the boat fire on Monday.
  10. The VR looks very solid and fun up until the end part of the ride, at that point im not sure what its doing. However I'm still interested to try it, I know I liked VR on Iron Dragon a lot and my only other experience was on Galatica and that one made me nauseous. So yeah I think VR has a place on smaller family ride coasters but interested to try it on a bigger coaster again. Plus how will the virtual queue work with their Quick Queue option?
  11. Oh and yes to second Andy's recommendation about Dockside Cafe yes please go! This is my home park and I didn't even know about the place haha We visited on Saturday and it was wonderful. Great atmosphere and great food, and who can resist fresh cut fries? Also the prices were not bad either and nothing can beat the view.
  12. Hey Andy, awesome photos it was great being able to hang out with you at Coastermania. Hopefully you can make it again next year and thanks for the info on that pier by Mean Streak you got some photos on I'll be checking that out as well. I haven't even got a chance to look at the photos I got on the cruise yet haha I'm sure I'll sort through them this weekend and what not, maybe photo contest entry for next year? haha
  13. I have a feeling the merchandise will go very quickly, you already know it's a limited time item. Collectors will snatch them up whether they care about sports or not, Cedar Point was very smart to cash in on the opportunity to sell merchandise as I believe it will be a very easy sell for them. Hell I may even grab a shirt or something, and I HATE the Cubs, but hey I'm an Indians fan so that's to be expected.
  14. I worked at WWK in 2013, and actually visited it a decent amount every year having a platinum pass. Honestly I would've visited more if they added a new drop slide complex but anyway I made sure to visit on the last day as I still have plenty of friends who still worked at the park. Anyway about the coaster nerds on the last day yes I saw way too many, some I''ve seen on multiple visits to Cedar Point but never have I ever seen them step foot into WWK. Was actually a little pissed off about that, acting like they cared about the place closing when they've never gone themselves after the ride side closed. Oh well to each their own I guess.
  15. I have felt the shudder too, and its very apparent on any of the new B&M's. Including Gatekeeper, Banshee, and Valravn. Gatekeeper I think is the smoothest and Banshee the most shuddering, but for me I wonder if it has something to do with the track being filled with sand now or their newer trains. I don't feel this sensation on Rougarou or Raptor or let alone even Diamondback. It's definitely something I've noticed and very disappointed as I was really looking forward to having a dive machine at my home park after enjoying Griffon and Sheikra a ton. Valravn ranks below both of those for sure, and I just classify it as an OK ride. The stars of the park have always been Maverick, Millennium, Dragster, an RMC Mean Streak might be able to shake that up a little bit but we shall see.
  16. Rougarou's transformation cost $6 million, my friend who's a supervisor at Cedar Fair told me these figures and I believe I heard them somewhere else too on a podcast maybe. But yeah each train was 1.5 million with 3 trains that's 4.5 million right there
  17. I totally agree with the point about finding something good in each ride and really appreciating where they came from. Yes I've been on far worse wooden roller coasters than Mean Streak, and I'll continue to enjoy Mean Streak on and on with the short lines. It provides a fun ride really no matter where you sit, wooden coasters are supposed to be a little rough. It's what they're known for, and I appreciate the different experience that a wooden coaster gives over a steel one.
  18. Off to an awesome start, can't wait to see more!
  19. I may be pulling this out of my ass but I've heard it before somewhere, the glowing example is look at Banshee's track width compared to other inverts, its much wider and that's the only invert with the new vest restraints. Like I said heard that was the reason Rougarou was unable to do the vest restraints.
  20. The difference I think he's referring to with how wide the track for Valravn is is comparable to Griffin at BGW. Griffin had 10 across seating alas using the old restraints. Valravn has 8 across but with the new restraints, as the new restraints require wider track. The very reason why Rougarou last year did not receive the new restraints as they couldn't widen the track for the wider trains required.
  21. Hell the $500 i wont pay that but I'll gladly pay the $75! I can't believe its only $75 for general admin. Yeah its basically like a media day type event with only one ride but last year for Rougarou the general was around $115 I believe so the $75 is a steal and I will be grabbing those tickets as soon as I can.
  22. As of last year yes for Platinum passholders, the regular Fastlane price was the same price you would pay for Fastlane Plus. So assuming no changes for this year then yeah I'd expect the same.
  23. Completely agree, things happen. Hey look at the ACE UK trip last summer, booked far in advance and then boom Smiler accident happened. I'm planning a trip to UK myself this summer and I'm still facing the fallout of the Smiler accident at Alton Towers with Hex and a few other rides being closed. Who cares? I'm still crazy excited that I get to finally visit Alton Towers and I'll still have a blast, plus there's the incentive to go back when said ride opens or re opens. The same applies to any park out there.
  24. I really like that T Express one!
  25. Here's two of my favorites from Cedar Point which I see a lot are from, must be a good sunset park haha
