  1. You are WRONG about Talon. Wrong wrong wrong wrong. Talon is 100% old-school B&M, every bit as forceful as Raptor. Ok, you may continue. Going to have to 2nd that notion. I rode talon for the first time 2 weeks ago and it's the most forceful invert I have ridden. I can't remember how Raptor felt because I was too young to pay attention to such things when I rode it 6 years ago. I also rode Afterburn at Carowinds the same week and it didn't seem to come close to Talon. Personally, I don't like the Batman clones that much, but for some reason Goliath at SFFT seems a lot better. I don't know if it's the placement or that it's a mirrored version to all the others i've ridden, SFOT, SFMM, SFGAdv, and SFOG, they all drop to the left where Goliath drops to the right. Back onto the subject at hand, I have been hoping that B&M would design a new invert because personally inverted rides are my favorite. IMO, speed can sometimes make up for the lack of force and I hope this one doesn't lose its speed.
  2. "I'm the guy that's remembered as the one that tore down the Texas Cyclone," Hendrix said in an interview with KPRC. "I'd like to leave a different legacy, actually." Hmmm... How would you leave a different legacy... by rebuilding it!!! Now i know that's not the case but how awesome would it be if it was. Nonetheless, can't wait for a new park to finally open in my area. Houston greatly needs one and i've always thought the only way to truly ope one would be to start small and expand over time. Earthquest was too big for it to work, a great idea but too much at once.
  3. I don't know if anyone knows the Australian TV show Summer Heights High, but a couple nights ago i dreamt i was at an Australian theme park with the creator Chris Lilley. I remembered the park had a dueling woodie, a vekoma slc, and something that resembled Superman Krypton coaster. I remember when we got to the ride(Superman) the track was complete but apparently the trains were missing important things. I remember only two seats in the 3rd row had restraints and the train was missing the last three rows, i assume it would have at least eight. Somehow i called B&M and told them they need to come fix their "poop". Hehe. They showed up and by the end of the dream it was somehow fixed and we were able to ride the ride. The entire dream Chris was cracking jokes from the tv show that i can't remember. The best part i remember was telling B&M that the train was messed up. Very very random dream if i do say so myself.
  4. Six Flags Astroworld used to be my home park, now i would have to say SFFT, but its 2.5 hours away and i don't consider the Kemah Boardwalk or the Galveston Island Pleasure Pier as theme parks. Though if the question was where is you closest roller coaster, it would be the Boardwalk Bullet in Kemah.
  5. If you would like to see Dorney Park, I recently fit it into an east coast trip last week and saw the entire park in 2 hours. On weekends this year they had the park open until Midnight. I arrived at 9pm and utilized the Twilight special and easily rode every ride by 10. I didn't stay longer than 11pm because i had ridden everything. IMO the park wasn't anything amazing. The inversion right out of the station on Hydra was unique, but thats about it. Talon was surprisingly a very good and forceful invert, but all together the park as a whole wasn't anything special. If you wish to see it, that might be your best option. I also was able to visit Great Adventure on Monday and Tuesday of last week. This was the first time i had experienced the park so i planned to stay for 2 days. The first day i was able to ride everything but Nitro. I rode Kingda Ka as my first ride and the ride ops were amazing, the line hadn't filled up yet so they asked if the entire train wanted to go again, so they sent us on through. I proceeded to ride Bizarro 3 times with no problem before the park seemed to fill up. Nitro had a 2 hour wait by 11:30 though. I left the park to take a nap because i unfortunately had no sleep the night before, but when i returned i was able to ride Green Lantern, Skull Mountain, and Superman in about 2 hours. Finally the last ride of the night was El Toro, my new favorite roller coaster of all time. Maybe it was cause the ride ops wanted to go home for the day or they were really good, but they were pushing trains out left and right. The line said an hour wait but it took 30 minutes for me to get on. I was able to get a second ride in with only a 20 minute wait. I called it a night but did show up the following morning. I planned to spend a solid several hours there but honestly i just wanted to ride El Toro over and over agin. So i made it my first ride and rode it 5 times without getting off. It was amazing. I then was able to walk onto nitro and feeling satisfied i left the park to head to D.C. To sum this up, if you are at the park when its open, you should be able to get a lot of rides in and may only need a day and 1/2 at the park, then you can use the remaining time of the second day to drive somewhere or go to another park, i was able to drive to D.C and ride all the rides at Six Flags America in 2 hours. The park wast a ghost town though due to a light drizzle and having the water park closed. Batwing had nobody in line, i mean nobody. Longest wait was 10 minutes for superman because they were running one train. Hope this helps. I also visited Six flags over Georgia and Carowinds if you have any questions about those parks.
  6. ^Well isn't that a smart move
  7. Now I can't say this for sure but I'm almost positive Earthquest is never going to be built. This is due to the fact that Grand Texas pretty much is being built right down the road from where Earthquest would be, and because in the year I've heard about Grand Texas they have showed great potential for it to occur, Earthquest has made no progress in the 4 years I've know about it. That being said Grand Texas will not open up until 2015 so waiting until then does makes sense but if you go sooner you may not miss much. Before they took down their site, it showed that they would have a wooden roller coaster and a boomerang. Nothing amazing, but hey, something is something.
  8. Arby, thank you for your response. I have decided to go to Dorney park because it is a little bit closer to our hotel in trenton than Hershey Park. Also thank you for your advice on Carowinds. It seems that my father will not be joining me at this park, he wants to spend the day by myself, do you happen to know if Carowinds has single rider lines for any of the rides. I most likely will pass up the water park so i would assume by 2 pm the theme park will not have as many people by then. I will wait until I am there to make sure if the Fast Pass is needed and use Vortex and Hurler as a good basis for if i need it. Once again thank you for your input, it is much appreciated.
  9. Sorry to Bump this thread, but I leave tomorrow to start my trip and would really like some feedback. If you can answer just one of my quiestions, that would be just wonderful.
  10. Living in Houston and no longer having a home park I generally make a trip to either of the 2 Six Flags at least once a year. I just recently got back from Six Flags Fiesta Texas. IRattler is amazing, but IMO to short, i honestly prefer NTG due to its length. Both parks usually are not at all busy on a weekday. I went to Fiesta Texas on a Wednesday and the longest wait was 30 minutes at their sky screamer, Irattler did have one of its trains close the front two rows halfway through the day unfortunately, but by that time half the crowd was at the water park so it didn't increase the wait for the other rows. Road everything several times. As for SFOT, i remember from my trip last year that the longest wait was for NTG, but still only about 45 minutes. Idk if i've ever been on a weekday where Titan wasn't almost a walk on by 2pm. I did hear that shockwave has gone down but i believe it should be back up and running by the time you go. Id wait until Six Flags releases their plans for next year because they may just add something major in the area near Gotham, this has been rumored but it could be as small as just a Zac-spin. I hope this helps, if you have any more questions feel free to ask, sorry i can't help about the midwest.
  11. Goliath @ Six Flags Fiesta Texas. My favorite of the cookie cutter B&M Inverts because it isnt a batman. Maybe its because you run mirrored to every other one i have ridden, SFOT and SFMM, but this is the best.
  12. Iron Rattler- Add a Helix right before the last break run when you come out of the cliff like on the original rattler. That would give it a better shot IMO at beating NTG. Mean Streak- Rode it once in my 3 day visit to Cedar Point a couple years back... Either Iron Horse the whole thing. or tear it down. I think thats the general consensus Any Cyclone Layout: I think it would be awesome to have RMC do a iron horse on any of these. Imagine the hill after the first turn around having a Barrel roll and the turn arounds being over banked... Just sayin.
  13. Howdy, I'm planning on taking a trip along the east coast next month to see both New York and D.C. I plan on driving to try and save some money, but this will give me the opportunity to hit up several theme parks during the trip. My current plan involves leaving my home city of Houston, TX on a Friday and driving to Charlotte, NC where I will spend the night with relatives. My Saturday leg gets me to a hotel near Six Flags Great Adventure. I then plan on seeing NY on Sunday and being at Six flags Great Adventure on Monday and Tuesday. I will leave that afternoon and drive to D.C and then visit it all day Wednesday.Thursday will be spent at Six Flags America, but then I am back to Charlotte NC where i will visit Carowinds on Friday. Finally i will continue on to Atlanta on Saturday and Visit Six Flags Over Georgia that night and all day Sunday. I will then drive back home. I have several quick questions... 1. Is this doable? 2. As you can see I have only allowed myself maybe 5-6 hours at Six Flags America, is that enough time to easily hit everything? 3. Would Carowinds be worth getting the Fast Pass since i am visiting it on a Friday. Are any of these parks worth getting the passes on the day i visit? 4. On my drive up on Saturday I would reach my hotel around 4pm, there is a route that could easily take my by Dorney Park or Hersheypark. Would I be able to ride all the rides at either of these parks if I got there when their "twilight" special's start? 5. What should I be most looking forward to? I think it's either EL Toro or Afterburn, though I've never ridden a Flying Coaster. 6. Got tips on how to see NY in a day? I've been to D.C. so I'm confident i can show my dad most of it in one day, but have no clue on NY. Thank you in advance for helping me out. I plan on posting a full review of my trip on here. I have never been to any of these parks and living in Texas I don't know when I will get the chance again. I'm trying to ride as many roller coasters as i can to hold me over for awhile since my city no longer has its Theme Park, RIP Astroworld.
