I think it's ridiculous that people are that self-centered. I actually had an interaction walking around campus the other day when someone using the selfie stick walked into me. Now I take some responsibility due to the fact that I wasn't paying attention, and only saw her at the last second, but she didn't see me AT ALL. Then she continues to scold me to look out the way, meanwhile her line of sight is planted on her device. It doesn't make much sense to use it at theme parks anyway. You pay a decent amount of money for a ticket into the park, and then you spend most of your time on your phone. It's getting out of hand.

I have no money until the end of school, which is when I start working again. I would love to go earlier, but I don't see it happening until about late May or June. But I usually plan for overcast days, because the crowds are usually down in both the waterpark and the actual park. Does anyone else plan it like that?

Why else would they have you circumnavigate around a quarter of the park? To them, it seems like if they opened that path, then it would render the boardwalk almost useless, so to keep people spending, make them go through the most heavily condensed games/food section of the park. However, it would have been nice if El Diablo bridged the gap between the two sections. But whatever.

I would like to believe that the design process for steel/woods at RMC is that they drink seven Monsters and a few cases of Red Bull each and have an out of body experience where they can smell colors. Then, they pass out. The next morning they wake up, take a look at the design and buff it out from there. Whatever they are doing, it seems to be working just fine for them. In other news, anyone have estimates on much longer Flashback is going to stay in the park?

I agree with that. Has Ka begun to show any sign of age yet? After all, it's the tenth year of operation. Have they overhauled the hydraulic system within the last few years, or are those systems quite durable? I hate to sound ignorant on the subject, I just haven't kept up with roller coasters in the past couple of years.
-
Does that mean they won't run Zumanjaro much at all, since it can't run concurrently with Ka yet? Also, after reading the article Ryan posted, I retract my previous statement and outrage about El Diablo. I can understand the logic behind putting something like that in. Hopefully I can make it down to New Jersey at some point this summer to see the changes that I have missed (I believe the last time I was in the park, GASM was still operational and standing).

I honestly don't get the hate on El Diablo being a carnival ride, after all... Deja Vu = carnival ride Swashbuckler = carnival ride Tango = carnival ride Twister = carnival ride Fender Benders = carnival ride Buccaneer = carnival ride SkyScreamer = taller version of a carnival ride Giant Wheel = taller version of a carnival ride Them marketing it as a roller coaster? Sure, I can see the backlash at that, but El Diablo isn't bad addition to the park's non-coaster lineup. For me, the irritation comes from the fact that, not only are they marketing it as a roller coaster and defining it as such (which artificially inflates their coaster count), they are marketing it as their "big addition" to the park. Personally, I don't like how they took out Rolling Thunder, left an open area where it sat, and now add this kind of ride. I know it may seem quite reactionary, but as it stands, it isn't appealing to me, but as the next couple of seasons approach, I may end up changing my tune.

I need something to believe in. I've already moved passed El Diablo. And besides, any speculation leads to discussion, which can also lead to new developments. Discussion often evolves from one topic to another, when based on speculation. It's always enjoyable to think of possible rides that could be added.

From the hints, the only thing I can think of so far would be an observation wheel, like the High Roller in Las Vegas, or the Singapore Flyer in Singapore. These kind of "observation wheels" as opposed to traditional ferris wheels haven't really entered the US market as far as I can tell. It certainly would be a photo opportunity. It may also shock people because there's never exactly been room for something like that. Who knows, maybe I am talking out of my ass, but it's a possibility. EDIT: It appears that there are more observation wheels in America than I had originally thought. Carry on.

I was trying to figure out what they would do after the removal of the Skyway. I haven't been around much, so I'm not up to date on the speculation, but my thought process is that they will take out the Skyway, then Flashback, clean up the area around there (taking out Scrambler and Balloon Race) so that there isn't much need for a concrete walk way through there, and build SOMETHING. Who knows what that something would be, but it's food for thought.

I am in love with this coaster already. If I ever get the money to go, I'm so there. -
I see your point, and agree. SFNE is already heading towards the corporation feel though. Taking out the flat rides like Spider, Twister, Chaos, etc. gives it more of that "corp" feel. It gets to the point where the park either commits to it, or stops it in its track. The park is in a transition stage, and has been for a long time. I highly doubt they would turn Cyclone into an RMC, though.

To each his own, I suppose. I know this would never come to fruition, and it may be just a pipe dream, but imagine taking out Flashback and placed some form of a launched coaster in its spot? Something along the lines of Mr. Freeze? The site that Flashback occupies is larger than what most of us think, and it would be perfect to not have to make the trek down to NJ for a launched coaster.

Nothing that I've heard, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were on the chopping block. EDIT: John Winkler, the SFNE park president submitted the five year plan for the park to corporate, which includes two new coasters within the next four years. It would seem likely that Flashback would be on its way out if this were to take place.
