  1. Now for the million dollar question... Is it because it is near the end of the season and the park is understaffed? Or is this permanent now?
  2. I'm gonna say that these signs are pointing to a Mack Power Splash. All the mentions of water rides, and now they show Poltergeist, which is a launch coaster. It was rumored that SF was going to put one of those in the Dubai park as well. So there's the long rumored water coaster.
  3. RMC does the Free Spin track. There was a video inside the RMC track plant by another coaster site that shall not be named, where Fred Grub discussed and showed some of the track. S&S handles the design and manufacturing of the vehicles and the supports.
  4. Currently driving a 2009 Toyota Rav4 Sport. 68k miles, runs good, but looking to use it as a winter/beater vehicle. Now that I have a good career and can afford it, I'm thinking about a Dodge Challenger, possibly manual Hemi. Of course I'll only drive this when the weather in the Buffalo area cooperates.
  5. I don't think it was necessary to have a large announcement like this for such a small addition. I get it if they are announcing it in stages, or whatever, but I think even most of the GP will be pretty peeved with this one. Planet Snoopy doesn't need any more attention right now. I would have been satisfied even if they announced a traditional re-track of Hurler. Don't think too many people will be rushing to buy season passes for next year after that.
  6. There was originally a plan a while back by PARC for the park to become an all year attraction. This would include possibly expanding the hotel to include a water park, and opening up the land across from the park for skiing, sledding, etc. The biggest factor of course is cost. I'm sure that PARC would have loved to make a few months more profit off of running the park, but of course CNL would have needed to put up the capital since they own the property. I think if any of these plans ever come to fruition, it will be once the park is rebuilt to a level where it can draw some more people in and prove to be a profitable year round property. There are still many things that need to be taken care of for the actual park and summer operating seasons first.
  7. I'm not surprised by this at all. Wildwater Kingdom was never really a huge water park anyways. It never got the attention from CF that it should have had gotten, and it's really a miracle that the company kept it going on for this long. They could have closed the entire property all at once in reality. To me, Geauga Lake died when the ride side did. I hate to see the property sold for condos or housing, but it's best for business in the eyes of Cedar Fair. Keeping the small water park open with no hope of the park ever returning was just a bad memory of what once was a nice little property. At least the land can be redeveloped now...
  8. I don't see them building another hotel entirely, but they always could expand on what they have if need be. I don't know what it's like during peak season, but I have never seen the hotel jam packed. Most people prefer the campground, at least during the fall months when I usually camp there. I really am hoping for at least a new flat ride next year. There are many spots that have to be filled in on the fly before moving onto other expansion land. A small flat package may be too much to ask, but I really think that they could use something. And not a replacement ride, or build one somewhere and remove another. I'm talking ground-up investment. The last flat ride to be added without removing another was Twister.
  9. It seems like they won't be adding that Huss Breakdance that they purchased. I wonder if it will be added at a later time, or is it going to another park???
  10. Well, then I guess you aren't going to Cedar Point Shores either regardless of what they do. Probably not. I wasn't expecting to. Unless they blow me away with a water coaster or something huge, I'll stick to the dry coasters when I visit.
  11. CGA just stole Dorney and KD's coaster. Floorless Vortex confirmed. Quick, check to see if next year is an anniversary year. Oh, and which park "deserves" it more. #KDHyper2018 #DorneyGiga2018 This is just too fun today.
  12. Lol, I'm so glad that I opened this thread. While the bickering and bitching continues in the other Cedar Fair threads, this is actually a solid addition, and is space friendly for the park. Wait until the KD and Dorney fanboys find out
  13. This is just a preview, right? I can't see them adding just a simple complex like that when they've done all of this prep work to Challenge Park next door. I still won't step foot in there again unless they include it with admission.
  14. Lol, wasn't the "picnic pavilion jamboree" part of last year's "additions" as well. This park is beginning to suck so bad, I wouldn't be surprised if they just Geauga Lake it, and close the dry side. I find it funny that they are finding a way to market bumper cars, and a 30+ year old ride. Can't wait to see the Kings Dominion disaster.
  15. Valravn having problems? Lightning Rod says hi. I think Valravn has been running just fine this year. Every ride in the world has bugs once in a while. I think people are just overreacting because it's new, and the second it has an issue it's automatically an unreliable piece of junk
  16. ^Screamscape is a lot of people? I know you want to be enthusiastic about the possibility of your home park getting a kick ass coaster, and I would love to see it happen, but there have been no signs of this happening. They probably would have announced its closing by now like SFDK did.
  17. ^^Actually, Roar East would be a surprise. Six Flags spending any money on that park, other than a roll of duct tape to repair the restraint molding, would be astonishing.
  18. Maybe they are gonna do the same thing they do with all park improvement projects. Start it, then halfway through just drop everything they're doing. So only half the wheel will have lights, half of Mind Eraser will have paint, Ride of Steel will have a painted brake run and fade for another year, half of Viper's queue will be fixed, and all coasters will run half a train next season.
  19. ^I knew that they were running Nitro in that kind of weather, but I had no idea that they were letting trains crawl over hills like that. I actually respect Six Flags a little more for actually keeping the rides running, rather than disappointing people and shutting them down. The only reason why I mentioned about Superman is because the Intamins tend to be more picky. I believe that Darien has a slightly different panel than the other two, and it will throw a fault if the train returns too slowly. Then it won't let any trains dispatch until it can speed up. Sometimes a light drizzle can shut it down for hours. But the B&M's also track speed on the brake run from what I have heard, so maybe Six Flags just found a way around it. It wouldn't be the first time they jerry rigged something to run different (that's not always a bad thing either)
  20. I don't think that Superman can even run in winter conditions. I know that at Darien Lake, there's about a 40-50 degree limit, or it risks valleying. It crawls over the second hills and bunny hops in even semi-cold conditions. You don't want to risk evacuating a train in snow and wind. Of course, the B&M's have temp recommendations too, but they are a lot heavier, and have the cold wheels.
  21. From what I've heard, the park is similar to Dorney in the way that a lot of coasters are walk-ons or short waits most days. Cedar Fair won't drop 20-30 million to build a hyper coaster that won't generate a line after 2-3 years. I wish every park would have a hyper coaster and build coasters on a regular basis, but there's a business side to things too. An RMC or GCI treatment of Hurler is much more cost friendly, and probably profitable for them.
  22. Why stop at hyper? What about a strata? You know what, screw stratas. Make it the world's first terra coaster. And have B&M build it. Sorry... I think there would have been a little more hype if it was a hyper (pun not intended).
  23. I visited the park today for a few hours in the morning; Here are some quick updates... -Motocoaster is still down. From the looks of it, they may be getting closer to opening it. A group of mechanics were in the station all day long, and the train cycled at least once. The flywheel was on and off too. After that cycle, it sat on the brake run though, so who knows what the problem is. -Silver Bullet was down too. A group of maintenance guys were working on it for a while, but it was still down for the rest of my visit. -I don't see Twister opening for the rest of the year at this point. It would be a waste to even start it up for a few weekends in September.. -DJ (the awesome ride op) now works in maintenance. He came to the rescue when Predator needed greasing, and almost put a restricted area sign over the exit gate as a joke. He sure hasn't lost any charisma -Maybe some higher-ups from the park read the forum. That beat up shed in the middle of Viper's queue has been painted and looks good. Hopefully the station is next. I noticed that the fencing around Ranger's old queue was painted as well. There were some pallets of wood in the maintenance area, so hopefully it's for a refurb of Viper's station. I assume if it's happening, they'll begin work once the park closes for daily operation.
  24. ^They don't have an official app or any way of telling wait times unfortunately. Your best bet would be to call a day ahead and ask if Motocoaster is running. It must have just been bad luck that it was closed, because it is usually pretty consistent and was open the last time I visited. Too bad you missed it. It might look small, but it's a forceful little coaster. You get some good laterals and a bucking motion on the small hills.
