Various people say various things Pete Himself said the launch was fine this winter.. he said most of the issues had to do with the trains themselves and that Dollywood planned to rewire and work on them during the off season We have also heard others say the launch works fine but we have had some say it doesn't.. From general observations from a lot of folks, it looks like the ride "trips" something causing a failure to launch or even leave the station.. Again though, no one official has said anything other than what Pete said at the coaster event this winter.. with that being said, we have had others from the park say things that dispute what Pete says Pete is the parks media guy who post on these forums from time to time Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

For the guy who was posting about a discount for Dollywood tickets, this current offer is better than what you will find on soda cans http://www.dollywood.com/Deals/Special-Offers/SpringSaver Just keep an eye on the TOS, it seems this ticket is only valid during this time period as well.. at least according to the TOS meaning this ticket might only be good until May 21st.. I'd call to confirm Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Thunderhead isn't as bad as a lot of wood coasters but over the years it has become pretty rough at times.. still a good ride though Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

It is probably feeding off your negative energy and refusing to work... Haha - probably. It's burnt me a few times the last couple years,so I do have bad feelings toward it. Got 3 in. 1 front right, one back left and one back middle right. Really really good. Surprisingly busy for a Wednesday in May today. End of year school field trips.. They keep the park fairly busy this time of year. My school always went in May and took 8 - 9 bus loads and I am from a small school district Several schools usually visit a day so they can add up quickly Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Got it! I knew aunt Grannies used to offer it glad to hear front porch does now.. in the past it was only on days the park opened early so at 9 It's always nice for people travelling that don't want to right the crowds at Shoneys or the pancake places on the strip lol Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

I never get there on early mornings anymore.. looking online all I see is that the past few years breakfast was included in the wild eagle back stage tour. So they at least made breakfast last year on early days but not sure if it was open to the public or not.. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Not really. Some good pastries in the bakery but not a real breakfast. They don't open early enough for that. Maybe you could hit the resort restaurant? Pretty sure they do breakfast. On days when they open early doesn't Grannies serve breakfast? I know they did years ago but it has been a very long time for me to be there when the park opens.. i haven't been to the park in years on a day that they open early, say 9:00 lol Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

I haven't seen any yet this year.. they aren't codes though, in the past you have to take the entire coke can.. I think last year Wendy's bags had a discount to but I don't eat Wendy's much to know if it's back or not Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Yeah, the play area beside thunderhead always seemed fairly empty in my experience.. the new backyard band or whatever area with the cast iron stuff to bang on sees much more popular, although smaller.. and the big one beside firechaser is still there as well Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Currently 45 in Knoxville.. I'd imagine low 40s at Dollywood so close to freezing Looks like Dollywood is dead today though but so is LR right now haha Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Thursday afternoon can be hit or miss crowds wise.. in the evening, if it's pretty and as people get off work it can get decently crowded.. just remember, if you get there after three, Thursday is essentially free because your ticket will be good for Friday as well.. just something to keep on mind Thunderhead hardly every has a line anymore.. it's usually close to being a walk-on, even on busy days.. From what I heard from a few guest at work is that Dollywood actually closed the entire park early today. I guess Blazing Fury was just slow to update on the app. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Like I said, I don't know for sure but I did see two test drops and that's how it worked from what I saw.You can clearly see the breaking fins towards the bottom of the tower and it doesn't look like anything is interfering with the drop, other than maybe friction from the wheels which will be minimal. I might go one evening this week and try it if it's open! Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Not sure, I have just never heard that term before and a lot of folks posted last year that Dollywood was the first time they have heard it as well. But other parks might use it And I am pretty sure it is a true free fall. The lift "let's go" of the carriage and the brakes don't kick in until the bottom (as seen from the fins on the tower).. so unless they have something on the wheels to slow it as it drops, it should be free fall minus the friction from the wheels. (The carriage does have wheels). This is just from my observation on a few test runs that I saw though. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

230 something foot is much higher than most of us expected a drop tower to be for Dollywood.. I was afraid they were going to do one around 100ft and make it a family tower. And I love how Dollywood has "invented" their own term for soft openings.. but if I were them, Technical Ride Rehearsal leaves bad thoughts in my mind and I am sure it does even worse in a lot of GP.. I feel they should just open it and call it open but don't advertise it as being open since it isn't scheduled to have a Grand Opening until this weekend.. That's what six flags and a lot of other parks would do. I have experienced several soft openings at six flags and it's like "oh crap it's open let's try" Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Rumor has it that a lot of the downtime last year was due to a sensor on the gate shutting the ride down when folks pushed on it.. again, only a rumor that was mentioned several times last year.. nothing was every confirmed but your experience does help back that up.. Now this didn't lead to day long downtime but some of the 30 minutes or other short downtime was rumored to be caused by the gates Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Did you happen to get a number of people in attendance? Another good way to judge is by how much of the parking was in the Splash Country lot. Last season Dollywood had a few days with attendance slightly over 35,000 people.. that's roughly the same as a slow day at Disney and if you have been to Disney on a slow day, that's a lot of people.. Parking was all the way into Splash Country on those days BTW those were record days for the entire history of Dollywood last year. I was there on one of those days and most rides had no issues. The issues on those days had to do with Dollywood planning for less than 15000 on the day I was there so operations were close to the bottom. They were horrible that say Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

One year, a friend of mine tried to upgrade a bring a friend pass and yes he got a discount but it wasn't nearly as good as upgrading a paid daily pass for a season pass (Which from what I have heard only cost the difference of the two and possibly a small fee).. So technically upgrading a paid daily ticket really isn't a discount.. Unless you got your paid ticket for free.. my company used to have company picnics there and our ticket was free from the company.. that made it a great discount for a season pass I think his discount was only $5 or $10 with the bring a friend pass Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
