Positive it was Klondike Katie? I know everytime they try to put Cinderella on the tracks and get her going, she usually has issues like this. Cinderella has acted like this for years, ever since it's rebuild lol Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

This used to be the mindset but I think it has been fairly agreed upon now that Dollywood is pretty independent from SDC now..Yeah, you might see some similarities in ride vendors being the same shortly after one or the other but I'm sure this is all due to lowering the cost of rides, similar to what the big chain parks do. We will buy two rides from you at a discount! One for Dollywood and one for SDC and so on. I feel Dollywood, especially with Dolly's influence, is trying to be their own park.. Just like HFE hasn't made Wild Adventures like Dollyood and SDC after they purchased it.. yeah, they have put some of the same rides in (Especially Flats) but other than that, it's very independent of the others.. They also sent out that survey, late last season or early this season that spoke of a new themed areas and let us vote on the theme. Might be the same survey as Fireman's Landing, but it also had a snow themed area and a few others. Like I said a few times on this forum, I believe a snow themed snow park might be coming to Dollywood.. an indoor one is already being built in the area by someone else.. Dolly doesn't let her dreams die and when Gaylord sold to Marriott her snow park in Nashville that was planned died.. When I saw the snow themed possibility on that survey, that's what it reminded me of.. I'm sure a lot of work had already been done by the Dollywood Company planning the snow park.. Train, being on the ridge would be a prefect area for this and if a lot of work had already been put into planning and designing the park, it would be a no brainier for a new quick themed area. Thing is, if they are starting on a new area you would think they would start by now UNLESS it is going to be announced this Winter and not for 2018 but 2019 meaning we won't get anything this year.. Similar to their last very large project Dreamore. A strong possibility though if they really do plan on a new area with 10+ rides like the survey mentioned (I don't remember he exact number mentioned in the survey but it was a lot) So yeah, they might spend this off season working on LR and starting their new area.. I can see a snow themed dark ride anchoring the area! Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

I'm sure the torrential downpours we keep having, or even the threat of them aren't helping! I'd imagine the park has under 1000 guest today, probably barely into lot C Last week was pretty dead to though with one day wait times bouncing between 15 - 30 mins By September it will be a walk-on.. it was several times in September last year and even into October.. i go a lot during Sept and Oct ans had plenty of rides last year on it! I'd Iimagine October will be much more crowded this year with the new festival! I mean they are going to open more for it than they are in December for Christmas haha so I'm sure they hope it's busy Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

And Blount County has already started.. they are a neighboring county. You can tell local schools are starting back, I'm here today and parking is only half of lot C.. LR only has a fifteen min wait.. when school starts, it'll be a walk-on or was last year Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

The park doesn't help with any rides anymore (they used to) and last season it was a mix if they would help or not.. this season, them helping us pretty much a no-go.. With that being said, no Official reason was ever given but some ride ops have personally said it is to protect them mainly from hurting guest while trying to push down the bars Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Like Luke said is very true except for Splash.. they will not allow food.. sometimes, if it's a diet or allergies thing, they might let you depending on the issue but I have heard them say to guest "We have gluten free options" Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

If they need to reduce stress on the track this early in the coasters life, they might as well tear it down.. I don't believe that at all haha Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Woohoo! It said TC earlier so that's great that it's back up. Can you buy the unlimited time saver passes online? I'm admittedly not the best at navigating websites sometimes but I don't see the option to. I can purchase season passes or multi-day tickets but that's it. Yes but you pick up when you get there... Not sure if you can buy them without a ticket or not.. last time I saw the online option to buy, it was an add-on item after tickets had been added to the cart Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

I don't think any of the RMC conversions have had issues, so I wouldn't be too worried if I were CP. I am really starting to wonder what Dollywood will do if these issues keep happening. How long can they deal with a ride that can't run consistently for more than a couple weeks? I think one caught on fire during the construction of the conversion but that could happen to anyone and didn't cause any issues Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Wild Eagle has been going down a lot recently.. has anyone actually went over to see if it's going down due to bees? It's early for them to migrate but they do still have issues with them this early in the summer, just not as often.. I notice it goes down during the same time when the bees are active during the fall so maybe it's not a maintenance related issue but bees and wasp Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

If Dollywood does something big, it would help the entire area better than local tourism advertisements can.. People that come for the new ride would have to eat and stay somewhere Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

I can confirm the strip in both pigeon forge and Gatlinburg are crowded and the mountains seem to be as crowded as they normally are, but most of my visits are on the weekend and evenings.. I know more locals go on the evening and weekends because they are in the area already and off.. I have made 3 visits during the day over the last tree weeks and it's been dead! I got to Splash Country one day at 2 and parked right by the front gate! The place was a ghost town.. Dollywood was in lot c and that it.. the strip was dead.. this was on both a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon when I took some time off.. Both BEAUTIFUL days full of sun.. so yeah at times it has been dead at Dollywood and even the strip area But we also have to remember, although Dollywood is running deals right now, they had a very significant price increase this season.. Some locals I know didn't renew their passes and just do other things in the area.. right now though Dollywood has some great deals Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Curious thought, I know the fires are causing a lot of the tourism issues all over the area BUT how much do you think LR being down might be hurting the entire area as well? The numbers they are basing everything on pre fire included Dollywoods record attendance last year.. those folks had to stay, eat, and play at various other places while in town? I know the majority of the lower tourism revenue is probably due to the fire but all these folks who cancelled trips because of LR can't be helping.. we are only a small sample here but those folks aren't all staying at dreammore meaning reservations have been cancelled at other hotels and those people won't be eating or doing other activities while in town.. If a big place like Dollywood has issues, it can trickle down much quicker than one would think Just an interesting thought Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Another article about low tourism http://www.knoxnews.com/story/news/local/tennessee/gatlinburg/2017/07/09/two-gatlinburg-tourism-leaders-lose-jobs-post-wildfire-visitor-dollars-decline/458945001/ I don't see how Pete can say the tourism market was unaffected Now with that being said, the last reported numbers according to the article was in April.. Also, I guess the National Park service just pulls numbers out of it's butt or folks srr just driving through and not spending money Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Like I said yesterday, that was one of the questions in the tourism survey they sent me.. it was in a set of questions about how likely these events would make you visit the park and the question for LR was "guarantee that LR would be running" Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Where exactly in that story do they claim that the whole town is gone? Nowhere, it's an interesting story featuring first hand accounts of the events that unfolded. As the story concludes, they quote Pete Owens saying that the idea that the tourism industry was affected by this is a misconception: Any parts of the story that painted a bleaker picture were clearly first hand accounts as the events unfolded and if you actually read the article in context and not just the headline that much becomes clear. None of the 3 major news networks in America (Fox, MSNBC and CNN) are "fake news", they're editorialized, sometimes biased news sources but people should be smart enough to actually read the articles and check the sources to gain some context before dubbing any article they don't like as "fake". The poster is clearly just trying to subtly bring politics into a theme park forum. Nobody who actually read that article would have a problem with it. It's an interesting read. Sadly, nobody wants to read articles... they just want to react angrily to any headline or news source with an alternate viewpoint because it's easy. Pete in the article says the tourism industry hasn't been affected, but that goes completely against the survey Dollywood sent out.. Now the survey didn't come out and say attendance was down, nowhere did it say that.. but it did ask about the fire, the news, has that affected you traveling to the area, what can Dollywood do to get you to come back to the area, how many times you visited the area last year vs this year, and even the question of "If LR was guaranteed to be open, would you be more likely to visit Dollywood" Questions like that are fairly clear that tourism is affected or has been affected by something. Was it the fire? Is it Dollywoods prices? (Several questions had to do with prices and discounts). Is it LRs uncertainty? It's like Dollywood is trying to figure out what's wrong.. I like Pete, but that's been the problem with Pete over the last year or so.. he says one thing but then folks above him say something else in interviews, or Dollywood ends up doing something else that makes his comments look fake and untrue. And then again, maybe the Survey doesn't mean anything but if that's the case, why send it out? It was one of the longest surveys I have ever done for Dollywood and it seemed to be customized due to the answer I had chosen. The very first question though was a fill in the blank and asked about what I had heard in the news and the second question was if I was aware of the fire Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
