Are all the rides open? Yes & No.. right now Friday is listing a low of 35 in Knoxville (Dollywood will be colder).. I'm sure it will be later Friday Night before it hits those temps. When it gets cold they have to close the coasters.. usually Tennessee Tornado is usually first to close and Wild Eagle is normally last.. Wild Eagle will continue to run until it gets what they call "Under Speed". That usually only happens if it's cold for a good period of time, but I have seen it run as cold as 30 outside because it wasn't under speed yet LR ran fine last fall until the fires and was down a lot in December.. it was unclear if that was due to it being so cold or not So while all the rides are supposed to be open, as temps drop the coasters will close! Just be sure to ride them early and pick YOUR FAVORITE to ride during the dark.. don't bank on riding all after dark because when it gets dark, the temp drops quickly and the coasters close fairly quickly.. so choose 1 to ride after dark and hit it first. Then go to the next if they are still open Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Probably back in it's original location, that's really the only location with water (if they want to keep it around water). Last year they setup the Carol of Trees very early in October.. I visited several times in October this year and it was never setup, but I can't imagine it being anywhere else if they set it ip this year. Id imagine the large tree will be setup though, even if they don't do the Carol of trees.. They might move the tree to outside the park ticket windows like Disney, and a lot of other pakrs do with their large trees. That's one possibility Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Like Ernierocker said, last year each pass had a date range it had to be used during.. so if you got two friend passes for buying a season pass one had to be used during date range a and the second during date range b. Simple answer is no, they couldn't be used at the same time. It might change this year but I doubt it.. friend passes have worked this way for several years.. I never use mine Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

If you get a ride on the train, see what you see for yourself as far as the land movement. I think I’m more interested in that myself than I am with whatever is happening to River Battle haha I honestly think river battle is just going to be the junction to the new area. It's the closest area to the service road. Their plan a few years ago had one of the junctions where fire chaser links to the service road so that will be the back junction and the front one will the river battle site Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

The park has been saying for years a new themed area would be up on the train loop. This might be it's start Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Usually same price but they are good for the Christmas season AND next year so you basically get an extra month out of them Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

They have always had dozers hid up there and open areas but if they were actually clearing an area, that's a good sign.. that's the exact location they spoke of about 5 years ago when they announced their 10 year plan Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

A recent interview said "The year is not over and we have more announcements to come" so I'd expect something before the end of the year personally Luminights has been doing very well, it wouldn't surprise me if it has more visitors than the Christmas festival.. they don't really need to build excitement right now. I'd imagine towards the end of luminights or sometime in November they might announce something so that it might cause enough excitement for folks to take advantage of the season pass deal in December (buy it then and it's good for Christmas and the following year) Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

No I don't believe so.. they always report record days but have never reported turning people away.. someone posted a few post back that the parks capacity is 27k but not really sure I believe it. We have had several reports of record days hitting 30k plus Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

You never know, they might do a haunt event in the evenings maybe two nights a week or something for those who want it, but I doubt it.. Dollywood would be so good at doing a haunt event though Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

They have added a lot of new crowd management things to help with crowds.. built new line areas around restaurants, they have folks directing traffic, and more.. they seem to be doing a good job at it Park extended hours tonight Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

They advertise a little over an hour if you ask them but it's closed on slow days (usually weekdays that time of year it might be closed) I think online they say it takes about an HR and half Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

During the week you should be fine.. on Saturday or Sunday, it's hit or miss and directly related to the weather.. if it's sunny, warm (yes we have 60 - 70 degree days all the way into December) and a weekend it's probably going to be swamped.. we are talking record breaking days! But during the week, you should be fine.. I have been during the week even when schools are out that time of year and it's usually fine Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

It's worse operations wise. I usually go to Disney around Jan 1st.. while Disney usually ends up closing their gates around 60something thousand, their food operations are still very quick.. Dollywood you might wait 30+mins for a basic sandwich.. that was a huge issue last year on Facebook.. Dollywood also seems more crowded, especially around the bottle neck areas when they are at 30,000+ than Disney feels at 60,000+ But that's just my experience being at Disney around new years the past two years and my times at Dollywood on record days haha.. Remember though, a lot of those 30,000+ aren't at Dollywood for rides so rides can still be under an hour wait while most are under 30 mins still Disney opens backstage areas to help people exit the crowds (they did this after the new years fireworks) and get out of the park when they are ready and after a big event.. Dollywood doesn't which is why we heard of folks fighting and climbing the fence a few weeks ago.. again, Dollywood is getting better at it but still has growing pains at those high crowd levels Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk -

Ehh not sure.. last year I think they broke a record and it was 35,000 people or so the report said.. it wouldn't surprise me if they did break a record, just not sure the total.. they would park at splash and then the splash employee lot (gravel lot) and then preferred.. I was there last year when they supposedly hit around 35000 and they never turned anyone away and never ran out of parking.. that total could of been 30,000 though if the report of 32000 is accurate.. but again, they reported 35000 that weekend last year so who knows.. they have been packed on the weekends this month so it is very possible. When I got there last year the lots were mostly full and they told me to just drive around and find an empty spot.. spots opened up all over the park as folks left for various things.. it just took a little hunting for a parking spot.. I think I posted here about the parking nightmare and driving around for 30+ mins until found out it was a record day haha.. they also had RV parking opened and cars doubled up in it that day. Also, Dollywood does have a lot of growing pains when the park hits that many people. They don't handle it nearly as well as other parks.. rides are usually fine and under 60 min wait so still far better than a six flags park but food service suffers and places around the park bottleneck making it hard to move around.
