  1. But see that's what's weird, he National Park Service keeps saying that attendance is at a record high.. Not sure if they say this to get folks to come in and it's not actually true or if people are coming just to rubberneck and see the fire but aren't actually staying in the area haha But yeah, the news sure doesn't help things and that was actually one of the questions on the survey.. What had you seen on the news. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  2. Not necessarily, folks here sometime stumble upon little known interviews that have answers to questions like this all the time People asking questions like this has linked me to some good interviews before, some I wouldn't see otherwise Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  3. I have been saying attendance has been down all year but my question is, how bad.. if they are sending a survey out I feel it's probably much worse than it looks? Or at least bad enough that Dollywood is trying to figure out why? Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  4. Yeah, it was really random.. being local choose the answer as it really wouldn't affect me coming if I had that guarantee.. I'm sure folks that aren't local, that is a reason to keep them away though haha Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  5. That's the thing, they say they limit the unlimited one but I saw tons of them my last visit and they kept offering them.. so who knows what the real limit is lol But like you said, most of DWs rides have been a walkon most season.. that's why it was weird and scary I just got the tourism survey from them Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  6. There site says "Limited to one ride per person" for LR and Drop Line but when I was there last week that rule didn't seem to apply to the unlimited.. The unlimited passes which is basically just a lanyard was all that the guest were showing to get on.. I know some folks had ridden it multiple times with their lanyard or so they said IDK, I have never purchased one, I'm just confirming that it has been slowing down the regular line drastically like DJKnox said lol Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  7. Just received a very strange survey from Dollywood about tourism being down and basically had questions about what would make me visit.. one of the questions was about Dollywood offering more discounts and another was "if you had a guarantee that LR would be open" Just speculation on my part, but do you think numbers and attendance are fairly down this season? The survey had promo adds and asked if it would make me more likely to visit, it asked questions about the fire and if that keeps me from visiting and so on? Kind of a scary survey if you ask me.. it asked about other locations I have visited this year such as Atlanta, Myrtle Beach, Nashville.. it asked about things I have done in the area outside of Dollywood and then it asked how many times I had been to the area vs how many times I had been to Dollywood this year.. Not their fun surveys they normally send out about new rides and stuff Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  8. That's the problem, they don't charge a premium so during the summer it seems every tourist has one and they don't seem to be limiting them.. luckily most of Dollywood lines don't have any wait this year like they did last season. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  9. This is something I knew would happen with their new Fast Pass system.. all theme parks that want to use a system for quicker lines needs one that can be scheduled like Dollywood old one or even Disney's.. the current system Dollywood has can't be scheduled so it's basically "jump in front of the line system" which is great for those who buy it but horrible for regular customers Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  10. 4 adults can be 600+ pounds.. last year I saw them run it with as many as 6 empty seats so some rides could have as much as 1000+ extra pounds on it yes so I can definitely see that slowing it down or causing a noticeable difference towards the top Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  11. I have seen it go both ways.. sometimes they allow you to stay but in my experience, most of the time I have been told to leave.. keep in mind, I haven't been in line many times when it goes down.. most of the time I stay away from it when it is down or had been going down a lot Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  12. Earlier in the season, everytime they tried to run two trains it started causing the failure to launch issues.. so my take is that something in the system just doesn't like both trains at the same time. From what I have seen, it doesn't seem like there is an issue with the second train. For example, I saw them load it once early during the season and the original train that had been on the coaster was the one that didn't launch. So IDK, we haven't seen them attempt the second train after the downtime.. maybe they rewired one train during the downtime and not the other? According to Pete, a lot of rewiring was supposed to be done to the trains during the off season.. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  13. IOE has said that is not true, just ask them on their Facebook.. several of us here have and they say they would have to be notified by the park if any changes like that have been made. They didn't say why they would have to be notified but I'd assume it's because they had to commission the software and fault tolerance for the ride so it would probably require a recommission if changes like that are made.. just guessing though. I rode it probably 100 times last season and maybe 20 this season.. some rides I have noticed a slowdown, but most of those rides where actually last season.. it really depends on the ride but this season I haven't noticed any significant slowdowns even after the the downtime this season.. my speed app that I have been using to measure everything seems to be consistent on all rides of LR I rode it 4 or 5 times this year before the downtime and made a trip to Dollywood just a few days after it reopened and have rode over 10 time since then and it was running the same as beginning of the season, at least on my rides. I'm sure at times, due to train weight and whatnot, it slows down more towards the top than other times.. but IOE says nothing is intentionally slowing it.. last year I had a few rides where the slow down was very noticeable but not really had any rides like that this year, but no changes have been made to the ride making it slow down launch or software wise Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  14. Here's the McDonald's deal, it's actually pretty good. $10 off if you buy online and no need to drag a McDonald's Cup or Bag in.. only $5 off at the gate though and you must bring your McDonakds cup in This is good for a blanket ticket meaning it's good for any day until August 13th http://www.dollywood.com/lpg/promo/McDonalds Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  15. Yeah, I took advantage of the season pass deal last year.. it was like half off a ticket in August, plus Splash Country is dead on those days.. this year I got super passes and have honestly been spending more time at Splash Country than Dollywood haha.. Last week though, the water in the wave pool and lazy river was cold! Like below 80 degrees cold which is cold for around here.. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  16. National Park is slammed pretty much any day this time of year.. week of course is better than weekend but it'll still be crowded.. As for Dollywood I find Tuesday or Wednesday to be less crowded than other days from all my visits And Splash Country doesn't really run deals for pass holders until August when school starts back.. so just the value Discount or whatever is the only deal right now.. Maybe try McDonalds? They have deals on their cups Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  17. I do see on the app now that they did close Drop Line for the night? Wonder why? That would be one of the best rides in the dark, with the light package and everything! Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  18. So now thunderhead is listed as TC closed but they always close it for the fireworks.. it seems like a fairly normal night to me attractions wise Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  19. Hopefully it goes well! Some if my favorite times at Six Flags and Disney are 10:00 - Midnight!! Unfortunately I couldn't go to Dollywood today.. I'm hoping they take into account the weather (calling for storms all day today) if it doesn't go well.. I'd love to see Dollywood open to midnight everyday next summer Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  20. The app list most of the rides open.. what do you mean they are closed? Sure they aren't closed due to weather? It's been storming on and off all afternoon?? LR is listed as TC and Daredevil Falls is listed as CD but they have been having issues with both those rides on and off all summer so if those are the only two closed, I wouldn't fret it Also, the park is normally open until 10 at least this time of the year and all rides remain open until 10.. they do close some for the fireworks, but quickly open them after Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  21. I think the relaunch policy is only for true rollbacks from what I have been told.. not failure to launch issues.. but again, this is just what has been told to me so who knows how correct it is Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  22. I know it stops at the top like some here have posted, I saw it do it on one visit but most of my visits, it never stops Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  23. Yes but you would think that would of been one of their goals during the month of downtime.. from experience both this year and last year, adding the second train causes over half, if not more like 75% of the downtime.. I'm here today, park is fairly busy for a Sunday.. parking is in F.. only one train on LR.. Dropline is in fast mode (meaning it never makes a full stop at the top).. good day so far On a side note, I started watching the newer Amazon Prime show "I Love Dick" and in the pilot, Dollywood is mentioned in the first few minutes of the show. He tells his wife when they pass through TN he wants to stop at Dollywood, but that she can't go because you are required to have big b00bs to get in haha Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  24. So sounds like all the issues still aren't worked out very well yet.. it's to crowded to only be running one train Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  25. Like IOE said last year, it's because the launch doesn't go all the way to the crest.. all you are feeling is the force of the launch stopping because the train has left the launch area Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
