  1. I think we can tell by this picture that umm...yeah...Heide probably missed out on having the number one coaster in the world. As far as my contribution, I'll just mention my hometown's failed concept (which very close-by Lake Winnie has not yet capitalized upon). Splash Valley waterpark in East Ridge, TN. The land still sits cleared and dormant.
  2. Umm...So my Bag-O-Crap came this week, I think the folks at TPR might like me... What could be in my (Box)-O-Crap? Let's find out! Yay! The standard crap! I would have been happy if this was all I had been given... But TPR went the extra mile to make this Bag of Crap AWESOME! An XL Australia Tour T-Shirt. WTF am I supposed to do with this huh???? Woah! A misprinted RITRHD DVD! I don't have a blu-ray player handy, but this might be worth like 25 Dollars? Holy Crap! Luggage Tags from a ride the Alveys haven't even visited??? A book? TEH BIG DIPPER??? The 2010 Duinrell press kit! Way Cool! OMG DRUNK OCTOBERFEST!!! I am honored to receive such items of priceless value. Ok. Who the Hell's shirtsleeve is this? And how did it get to me? Bonus DVD! What the Eff!!!!! Russian children's programming? A short clip...I have no idea... Thank You TPR for this awesome bag inside of my awesome Bag-O-Crap! This stuff made my day!
  3. I think the theme of the ride (Nordic Gods) would put it going into the Icelandic section of the park. The splash battle and kid's stuff I believe only take up about half of the land in that satellite pic. Europa has probably planned these last four additions to Iceland in order to fit all of these attractions, including the new woodie on the back side traveling near Blue Fire and Atlantica.
  4. Expedition Everest is clearly the highest roller coaster in the world. But on a serious note, Quito is about the biggest population base that high above sea level. Unless there are any parks in the Himalayas i would doubt there are any higher than Vulqano. There aren't any higher in South America.

Trains, buses, cheap RyanAir flights: These are all options America does not have, but Europe has in spades. Someone will help you find out more (which websites, which trains), surely, but I guarantee you you can get to all the major parks through public transport.
  6. Woot! I feel pretty! Zamperla at Coney Island Big Ass Skycoaster from a distance TPR visits all the time.
  7. Hahahaha I mentioned that they should buy Olympia Looping at the end of my survey! Clearly this is the direction they should head... Personally, I think it would be foolish for anyone to think ONE steel coaster would complete the HW coaster collection. There are too many types that do too many things to have one coaster that does them all. Whatever HW decides to build, it needs to do something never seen before, because that is what we've come to expect over the last decade...And quite honestly, if they are going to listen to the enthusiast community like they did when they built Voyage, then whatever they build really SHOULD be a top twenty coaster. Though, Again, Olympia Looping would fit in VERY well to the park.
  8. 1. The subtraction must have A LOT more to do with needing to get rid of this thing than needing the space for something else, because SFA is maybe the one park in the country with the most room to expand. Or it could be a case of not upsetting those pesky neighbors again with further expansion. 2. Boo, I missed this ride last year due to needing to hit every credit on a Saturday in August. 3. Park will be improved if they add a pathway around the backside of Wild one from Roar to (not)Thomas Town. They'd be foolish not to add that option for the future. 4. DID THEY SAY SFA IS ACTUALLY ADDING SOMETHING IN 2012?????
  9. There's a huge difference between Intamin rides and Mondial ones. Everyone expects awesomeness from Intamin. No one expects Windseeker to be great. Any ride Intamin makes is expected to be really really good, and people don't like delays from rides with lots of hype. In fact, everyone is especially hopeful for Intamin rides because there is so much standard being built out there and not enough greatness.
  10. Always pick something notable for big numbers...what is notable about Steel Eel? SHAMU EXPRESSSSSS.
  11. The overwhelming thing that attracts me to a website and makes me want to come back is content, and then how easy it is to find it. In a website, I would probably rate attractiveness at about 5 percent, Ease of use at about 30 percent, and Content at 65 percent. Here is an example of a very pretty website I have to use all the time for Ultimate Frisbee, but totally sucks in every way. See how long it takes you to find the forums on the website. If it takes you longer than five seconds, you'll see my point. RCDB doesn't change much and hasn't changed much in the past. But for the effectiveness it offers, largely due to its design, it's my absolute favorite website on the internet. Everything a website offers should be listed in the heading on the front page. If a website is HUGE and has tons and tons of different little places to go (re:about 5+ times bigger than TPR) then everything the website offers should still be indexed into broad categories found on the front page. Think about how big Ebay is, but how relatively easy it is to find the item you want without even typing it in the search box by narrowing categories subsequently from the front page. TPR is pretty close to matching its web design with its purpose, so I would not recommend a total redesign. Tweaks and prettyness yes, but the risk of a redesign is just not worth it, because sometimes it really, really fails (re: The terrible Gawker redesign that straight up caused me to stop reading Deadspin).
  12. Looks very very fun and colorful. I'm happy they put this in! But I'm going on the record and saying no way does this outrank Maverick and iSpeed. I think the general public will still think of Shiekra as the king of the park.
  13. I like that, in true Fuji-Q fashion, the ride is completed now but you have to wait another two full months for it to open.
  14. There were a ton of times in Europe where my lapbar was not checked, and even more where bags/cups/purses and more were SUPPOSED to go with you on the ride/rollercoaster. And I only went to like, 5 parks!
  15. While I've played many mini-golf courses in the past, Course Two at Sir Goony's in Chattanooga is still far and away the best one I've come across. At Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Golf in Pigeon Forge you have to take a miniature train to get to the start of the course, which has a bunch of caves. Hillbilly Golf in Gatlinburg is definitely a top honoree too. There's the tram followed by a bunch of ridiculous hillbilly theming. Goofy Golf in Sandusky Ohio has one hole where the ball goes down a trough on a bridge across a stream which is pretty cool.
  16. I don't think that's it. Top Thrill Dragster has lapbars, and Kingda Ka has over-the-shoulder-restraints. Enough people prefer the lapbars that they chose Dragster over Ka. Yes, that's a big gap. But there are some (including me) to whom restraints are a really big deal. Restraints can be a huge deal. SFMM's Revolution is nowhere to be found, 38 spots behind Sooperdooperlooper which is about the same ride, probably less cool of a track actually. Robin hood at Walibi World has plenty of ejector air. Too bad it all sucks because the restraints are knife-like.
  17. I have a theory that if you threw in some intense loops into any of these hypercoasters at 180 feet tall or more, they would surely make the rides better. I think the mix of multiple loops and 7-8 airtime hills is most certainly under-explored at this point. Which Is why I'm most intrigued by the Intamin blitz coaster's evolution. They seem to be exploring the avenue of "more of everything is better" and I think we'll see a big, top three hit delivered in the next 5 years.
  18. I totaly agree with you. Its an o-k ride, but not worthy of the #1 spot. It was a painful for me as well. Note to any park management reading this thread: Don't change anything when you have the number one coaster in the world!
  19. Things that suprise me 1. Black Mamba seems ridiculously high to me. Of the B&M inverts I've ridden, it's definitely the least forceful and shortest. Theming is great, but there's also a surplus of well-themed inverts out there. 2. There were a lot more coasters that failed the ridership requirements this year, which is Mitch's decision of course. What I found weird was the number of coasters that didn't have enough comparisons while coasters at the same park did have enough. Coasters at Space World, Freestyle Music Park, Magic Springs, Kennywood, Dreamworld and more had this happen. Seems an odd phenomenon. 3. Euro-Mir is far too low. Maybe people dislike the cheesiness. I found it pretty awesome. 4. Olympia Looping and the Mindbenders just seem to me like they would rank a little higher. Higher than Thunder Dolphin, at least. 5. The Mega-Lites should be ranked together, as "Fav Mega-Lite." The two that made the poll ranked next to each other, and the two that didn't probably would have landed in the same space. It's the same layout and the same experience, clearly 6. Congrats to the Zamperla Volare for really sucking!
  20. For me, the choice here is really easy. Millennium Force. So many people are distracted by the lack of airtime, but when I look at the positives of the ride... -One of the best first drops in the world -Best train design I've ever seen -In the 99th percentile for top speed in the world -Long track and long ride -Amazing night rides, amazing setting -Fun theme and energy surrounding the ride while waiting Yeah, it's my number one steel.
  21. I just drove 1100 miles from Knoxville to Tallahassee, FL and back. Eff.
  22. As far as I know, either Elissa or Robb keeps this count updated regularly. Elissa's is found here.
