  1. I'm hoping they'll manage to open it in time for the event tomorrow.
  2. I'm hoping it's open for CoasterMania tomorrow. If I don't get to ride it this weekend, it would suck. I'm sure the park is working on it, though.
  3. My sister and I could use a few more donations We are super pumped for the event on Sunday
  4. 2 Words. Disco Yeti I really wish people would stop complaining about the yeti. It's really stupid. In fact, I feel that most people who complain about the yeti have never actually seen the original version of it! IMO the Yeti is not really "broken." What is "broken" about the yeti is that it shouldn't have been a giant, expensive-as-hell AA in the first place since you see if for a total of 1.5 seconds as you fly by it at 30 MPH. It's not like the Lava Monster in Journey where the ride stops, you can look at the character do it's "show" and then you move on. Even when it worked you wouldn't believe how many people totally missed it. It was one of those "If you blink you miss it" situations. Like I said, I think the real mistake wasn't about if it's working or not working, but the overall design and placement of that scene in the ride. And because of that, I don't think we will ever see the yeti get "fixed." IMO, the "really awesome expensive yeti animatronic" should have gone in the scene where the yeti rips up the track is. Then you'd REALLY be able to see how awesome that figure is! Realistically, it was just a huge waste of money. For example, in 2011, before I had seen the POVs and knew where everything on the ride was, I rode Expedition Everest three times and didn't notice the Yeti at all. The train moves by the Yeti so quickly that all I saw was a strobe light. So I agree with Robb, there really isn't a point in trying to make it move.
  5. Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom- my 50th credit!!!
  6. I'll most likely be stopping at Mount Olympus and Timber Falls in July. I'm a little nervous about Mount Olympus though...
  7. www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/warren-county/mason/report-kings-island-flight-of-fear-indoor-roller-coaster-catches-fire Edit: coasterbill beat me to it
  8. I agree. The "hundred plus two" is awkwardly worded, so it must be a big clue.
  9. A nice back and butt massage. Now you don't have to pay for one of those vibrating barrels that parks seem to have all over the place!
  10. The only real "rough" steel coaster I've been on was Ninja at Six Flags St. Louis. As far as wood goes, I have to say The Boss at Six Flags St. Louis, especially on my ride this season. The roughest coaster experience I've ever had.
  11. Pandemonium- SFSTL
  12. This is really what I imagine at HW next year too. As I was leaving HoliWood Nights last night, I was talking to my dad about what could be coming next year and I thought that a ride similar to FireChaser Express would be perfect for the park. However, they really are hyping up next year's new ride, so maybe it is something even more awesome.
  13. Well, yes it should be finished this week, but this is SFMM we're talking about.
  14. I also visited the park today, and will have a full PTR soon. Here are a few notes I have, though: -The park doesn't have too much to do in the dry side, which is understandable, since it just reopened. However, the park looks great. The attractions have very vibrant colors. The barbed wire around the park is strange though, especially in the queues for the 5D Cinema and FearFall. -Lightning Run is fantastic. We rode it twice, both times in the back. It is short, but is full of airtime and twists. It is also my 50th coaster! -Thunder Run is smooth, but is also very forgettable. It's not a bad ride, there just isn't really anything special about it. :/ -The queues need a lot more shade. Hopefully they'll put shade structures up, or maybe the tree they planted will eventually provide lots of shade. -The park's layout can be somewhat confusing. A few more signs would help. -The crowd at Kentucky Kingdom was one of the most obnoxious I've seen. People were smoking in almost every line I was in and dropped their buds all over the place. They were also very loud about things they shouldn't be talking about. A girl in line for the Cinema began discussing how her mother was a pro****ute and how CPS was trying to take her away from her. Who talks about things like that so loudly?!?! Overall, the park still needs work, but for a park that's been SBNO for 5 years, it looks pretty good. I can't wait to see how the future of the park unfolds.
  15. They really don't look like they're a quarter up the tower.
  16. It is confirmed to be reopening in 2016. Newspaper article I read states that it will be getting a $10 million refurbishment and that both sides will possibly be combined into a single ride.
  17. The hour wait sign that used to be in Lightning Run's queue seems to be gone. I didn't see it, unless I wasn't looking hard enough. Our wait was about 20 people out the entrance both times we rode and we were on the ride within 30-40 minutes. There's a concrete pad to the left when you pass the entrance sign, I wonder if that'll be used for a switchback eventually.
  18. The park map now states that the Rapids ride will be opening in 2015.
  19. I don't think any real high thrill flat rides would fit with SDC's theme. The Barn Swing is an exception, but most thrilling flat rides are noisy, tall, and modern looking. Coasters can be designed to hide in the terrain, flat rides can't. Plus, SDC is a family park, so a few fun family flats wouldn't hurt.
  20. Santa's Lodge near Holiday World is $79.99 a night if you belong to a coaster club. It's pretty clean and very close to the park.
  21. From standing up on Hyena Fall's platform, I can see tons of orange survey markers out in the fields behind there. Looks like it is most likely a coaster. Also, last night at the kick-off of HoliWood Nights, they performed a parody of Do You Wanna Build a Snowman and Let it Go. At the end of Do You Wanna Build a Snowman, they sung, "Should we build another coaster?". The crowd went nuts, but then they just shook their heads and went "Nah".
  22. After a few more rides you'll know the layout and it will be a breeze Still a work out, but you will know where stuff is. I took a friend on her first Voyage ride in the dark at HWN 2011. She didn't know anything about the ride; she was immediately bit by the coaster bug and outrode me! I gave it 3 night rides I believe. The roughness wasn't too bad, but I got pretty nauseated from all the airtime. I guess you really can have too much of good thing. But that triple down in the tunnel is the best part of the ride at night!
