You act like SF doesn't give MM enough money to do both of those things. (That wasn't supposed to be directed towards you, I'm just saying that MM gets WAY more attention than every other SF park.) I completely agree with your post. I don't see how scanning somebody's finger would take less time than taking their picture. It wouldn't help with the lines at pass processing, and the pictures work fine. SF should mail out renewed passes and let people submit their pictures through a phone to be put on their pass. Mailing passes would be more convenient than making people stand in hour+ lines just to get theirs.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Woodie Warrior replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry, I was thinking of when I visited at the end of July last year. We got pretty much everything done in the dry park, but only got on Mammoth, Wildebeest, Bakuli, and Watubee in the water park. We still had fun anyways though. -

The park is definitely a two-day park at the least. One day for HW and one day for Splasin' Safari. -
Meh. That is seriously my only response to this coaster. While the loop looks amazing and fun, the ride just looks...strange. I mean, I get that that launch in the middle was needed to get the train over the lift, but I think the whole tunnel part is really random. A launch like the one on Maverick going up the top hat would have been cool. Also the ride should have continued a little bit after the top hat. Those stilt walkers made me laugh. Their costumes look like SFMM was trying to rival USH's Transformers and failed miserably. I could see a Ignite type show going into the area soon. And knowing SF, we will be seeing a brand new coaster for 2014 added that will go right through the loop. It was SF's way to give SFMM yet ANOTHER record. But hey, I guess it will bring in some more tourists.

I'm not talking about a complete transformation indefinitely like Mr. Freeze. I'm saying that I want the backwards trains currently leased at SFGAm to be moved to SFSTL for half a season. Apparently SFGAm's train is being completely redone with some "exciting" changes. Could that mean lap bars instead of OTSR's? I don't know. SF is planning to send the train around the chains and have it operate at a park while the park is getting its trains updated. All I want is our park to get them next so we don't have to wait three or four years to get our trains updated. I may have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm gathering this information from what I have read on the SFGAM thread.

This is a last time I'll state my opinion on why the Dark Knight Coaster is an extreme let down. The park already had a mouse. That was all they needed. I guess SFGAm either wanted to bump up the coaster count or try to put in a dark ride so they had one. But the dark ride effects are half-a$$ed and the only successfully themed part of the experience is the pre-show room through to the loading area. The roller coaster is pretty much a boring mouse in dim light with neon "HAHA"'s written all over the walls, and a few statues placed near the track that are of Batman. It feels like a slow romp through a warehouse. If the pre-show is gone, the ride loses its only theme-ing. Why not remove the embarrassment that is the failed theme-ing on the ride? If they turned off all the lights and added a few lighting effects similar to Space Mountain, the ride would be a lot more interesting IMO. They don't even have to remove the props already there if they can keep them turned off. In the pitch black nobody can even see what is there. And why has there even been comparisons on Dark Knight and Rock n Roller Coaster. RNR is a launched coaster with loops, speed, intensity, on-board audio by an amazing band, and good enough theme-ing. I mean, the whole plot is that you are driving to an Aerosmith concert on a highway. Audio-Animatronics would've been a blur and wouldn't have made any sense. The ride accomplishes what it needed to. DN did not. There is no reason why Sally Corporation couldn't have made Jokers, clowns, Batmans, etc. to be placed in slow areas of the ride. But I see no reason why SF would even do that at this point. Just theme it towards space exploration and remove all of the lighting except for a few light tunnels or something cool. A ride in complete darkness like Space Mountain makes the ride seem faster than it is. Okay, I'm done ranting. On a positive note, the projection system on Ignite is freaking awesome. On a negative note, the singers are bad. Even for a Six Flags show. I felt embarrassed watching the show.

Insane Coaster Wars Season Two!
Woodie Warrior replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have a few comments: 1. For all the confusion about the titles of the episodes, they describe one of the coasters in the episode, not all of them. In "World's Fastest Coaster", Formula Rossa was featured. In "305-Foot Terror Machine", Intimidator 305 was featured. But no other 305-foot tall coasters were featured. 2. The coasters against each other have nothing to do with each other, and while some people think that makes no sense, I think it makes the show more interesting to watch. If you don't like launched coasters (but IDK why anybody would IMO), you don't have to sit through 4 coasters that don't interest you. It is a nice variety. 3. I saw that there won't be a top 10 episode. This could be because season 2 and 3 are both going to be international and have an identical scoring system, so they could just do the top 10 of both seasons combined. 4. Blue Fire looked like a better coaster than Titan and Tower of Terror IMO. But I guess ToT is a adrenaline-pumping coaster that impressed the riders. 5. Why does Tower of Terror only go halfway up its tower? Or did the show just not have a good off-ride angle of the ride? -
Actually, the Rail Blazer stand-up trains were on the mine train that is still at the park today. And while the second side apparently was a lot better than the one currently at the park, SFSTL needed to fit Ninja somewhere. I have a whole meeting-worth of questions, but here are a few things to tell him: 1. Iron Horse for Boss Please 2. Hyper please (wishful thinking) 3. Please repaint Eagle, Batman, and the carousel, because I don't care how much it costs to repaint it, it looks like crap. 4. Batman Backwards and redo the queue, it looks like crap with a Styrofoam fire hydrant and rocks sitting there without a car.

Eh, two launched coasters in the same park may not work. I think a ride similar to the originial RSR would be cool if it were faster. For some reason, even on Test Track, I feel like the high-speed part at the end is a let down. To me, it just doesn't have an out-of-control feeling like a launched coaster, it just feels like going down a highway in a convertible. But the reason is, they really aren't supposed to be extreme thrill rides, but thrill rides the whole family can enjoy, which is what DHS needs. Although, your idea is extremely far-fetched, it sounds amazing. Like what if when the cars passed through a restaurant, you could just grab food off a conveyor belt or something, scan it on the way out on your Magic pass thingy, and at the end of your ride you got a bill. I wish the Imagineers read these forums.

I remember reading a report from a worker at SFSTL (it was posted on the deleted sfstl.net). Apparently the ride is still able to run and this worker had ridden it along with other operators after the park closed. Of course, there is no way to tell if this guy was lying, but it really doesn't make a difference. Either way, SF is not going to put time and money to restore the ride. Even if the ride can be run, plenty of stuff needs to be done to really make sure it looks nice and is safe. At that point, they might as well buy a whole new set of teacups.

I hope they rebuild the Bumper Cars. An Amusement Park without Bumper Cars is like a Fast Food joint that doesn't serve French Fries. I just can't see them doing that. Just because they have them sitting around doesn't mean they will ever be used again. Those bumper cars were filthy. Them sitting out in the sun for a whole summer won't make them any more attractive. The most we would ever see is a complete new set of them. And SFSTL wouldn't buy them if they weren't marketable.
