  1. I never rode it with these effects before, but this is great news for Haunt! OMFG I'm there! Just the "welcome to the demon" coming back would be amazing, but I've never ridden it with the fog or blood fall either! Cedar Fair really is doing everything right with this park, I'm really excited for the next 5-10 years here. I'm in the same boat too! This is pretty interesting. I kinda hope they also do this during the day (I'm personally not much of a Haunt person). Also, with the area being retooled for Railblazer, it would be cool to bring back some of the rock work. I kinda doubt that would happen, but it would be interesting to see.
  2. A bit different from what I expected. But nonetheless, I like it! This looks like a pretty cool coaster. I have a more than good feeling that 2018 will be a great year for Cedar Fair.
  3. I honestly don't give a care that it's a clone. Not only does this look beautifully awesome, but this will probably be the very first RMC I will ever ride! I believe this is a great start to the park's Masterplan expansion! Oh what a year 2018 will be!
  4. Whether or not it will be an RMC Raptor doesn't matter much to me. I'll still be interested to see what this coaster will bring to the park. If it does end up being a Raptor, this might be the first RMC I'll ever ride.
  5. Same here. It was gone long before I was born. But at least it's still at the Great America in Illinois.
  6. June Foray just passed away at 99. I think every animation expert should know who she was. She was the voice of some of the great animated characters in animation history, including Rocky and Granny. I'm honestly saddened by this. She was a legend in the animation industry, and I would've loved to actually meet her, but now I know that I never will.
  7. I was just about to mention that too! It's a shame that they're gone. I really need to see Night of the Living Dead and Ed Wood.
  8. ^ Depending if I finally get a job this summer, I'm hoping to visit with my friend (who lives like 15 minutes away from the park) before summer ends this year.
  9. Sorry if I break this conversation, but I just got back from my first visit to the park for the 2017 season. I have to say, Patriot was a well worth upgrade to Vortex. On my first ride, it was pretty much smooth. Although on my last two rides, it was a bit shaky, but still not as painful as its predecessor. I tried the tri-tip from the new Maggie Brown's, and I think it's the best food the park has had in a while. There were a few interesting surprises during my visit. Some of them including a female live actor for Mass Effect (which I don't think has happened before), finding a hidden path in between Planet Snoopy and Delirium, which there I found a tease to this year's coming Haunt. But I think the biggest surprise came from something that I realized during the last few hours of the day. Not only did I visit the park by myself for the first time in a while, but this year marks the 15th year I've visited the park. I've been going to the park since 2002 back in the Paramount days. I've seen this park change over the years, and anticipate the changes coming in the future with the new Masterplan (in fact, I'm working on a vlog discussing and speculating about said plans). But I started to realize that even with the new additions, I've been seeing much of the same thing, and it's been getting a bit tiring. I believe there's something that I've taken for granted. The last couple of times I visited the park, it was during WinterFest and when I went with some good friends during my birthday. Each of those visits were unique in their own ways. With my birthday trip, I got to show one of my friends who was new to the park around. And with WinterFest, I got to see the park in a way that I never saw before. But with today, visiting the park as it is normally, by myself, made me realize how great it is to share experiences like these with others. Part of me feels that perhaps I should take a break from the park after this season is over. I'm planning to move down to Southern California in a few years (hopefully). I think maybe after some time away, I can start over with a fresh mind and see the park again when it's well into the Masterplan expansion, and perhaps appreciate things more, both old and new. Anyway, I'll share some pics about the other rather interesting things I found during my visit. I saw they were setting up the new stage behind the carousel. During my first few times I passed by this, they were just painting it. So, apparently FunTV was playing a clip from Mary Poppins (particularly the song, Spoonful of Sugar). I know the karaoke show has "Let It Go" as an option, and I can kinda understand that, but it seemed just surreal to see something like this at a non-Disney park, even if it was just on the queue TVs. During my walk down one of the many hidden paths I discovered the facade to the Wax Museum Haunt maze. Not only that, but it even had a sign on the front marking its return to this year's Haunt. Seems that CGA is testing out a new free flow type of log flume. The hollow remains of Firefall. Nothing much is left except for the water area that looks like it was polluted with the gases used for the fire. I think Firefall's closure made the opening scene in Mass Effect a bit awkward since that attraction was shown in one of the holograms. What the new stage looked like later in the day I dunno if this was for an occasion, but there were inflatable ducks in the fountain pond. Star Tower is still closed (dunno why it's been closed and why it's taking so long to get the problem fixed). But that didn't stop me from taking this cool picture.
  10. Peter Sallis, the voice of Wallace from Wallace and Gromit just passed away at 96. One of my childhood favorites is now gone. Decided to have some cheese and crackers in remembrance.
  11. I know that in one of the Masterplan documents, the description for the launched coaster sounds like an Impulse coaster, but I might be the only one that hopes that it isn't that type of ride. Not to say I don't like Impulses (I have been on V2 and Wicked Twister), I just find them to be okay as launched coasters. IMO, I'm hoping for something different and unique for CGA, especially since SFDK already has an Impulse with a unique design.
  12. That's a good point. In fact, I've been thinking about doing an analysis on all four Towers, understanding their uniqueness and even explaining why Mission Breakout isn't such a bad idea. Personally I see this new ride as sort of an experiment by WDI. Since DCA's tower was one of the weaker versions, Disney tried to see if they could experiment by using the same ride system and building, but try and use not only a different setting, but one from an IP that they actually owned and not licensed. I haven't ridden it yet, but from what I've seen of it, it looks like it was a mostly successful experiment. It's not perfect, there are parts of the ride where it's obvious to see that it took over TOT (IMO, I think the Simpsons at Universal did the theming takeover replacement a little better, even if the transition and entire aspect kinda didn't make much sense), and I think the randomized video patterns could be tweaked a bit. But really, there's nothing that much wrong with this ride, the problems it does have seem very minor. I really hope I get to visit DCA soon because I'd love to actually check this out and compare it to my experiences on TOT.
  13. I have no idea. I was too young to see the first one when it first came out. I have it on my Netflix watchlist, I just never got around to watching it. Perhaps I should change that by actually watching it.
  14. Just saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales today while handing in my application for a job at my local theater. I thought it was better than the last movie. It was a pure fun, action-packed, and very comedic ride, and I felt that it was a great close to the film series (were it not potentially ruined by the post-credits scene that may or may not have been a cliffhanger). I've seen all the Pirates films except for the first one, and this one is my favorite so far. I dunno if there's much else to say right now except that I thought it was good and fun.
  15. For this summer, I'm going to CGA as usual (I actually need to get a new pass since my old one was lost along with my wallet). I was originally planning to take my friend from Orange County up there since she loves the Mass Effect series and want to see the New Earth ride, but due to unforeseen circumstances, that most likely won't be happening this year. But I will visit her this summer, and maybe we'll go to either Disneyland or Knott's. I'm still deciding between the two. I dunno if I'll be able to afford both parks, and I'm split between Mission Breakout at DCA and Ghost Town Alive at Knott's.
  16. I saw some footage of the ride too, and I was amazed what they did. I especially love the new Rocket AA they built. The entire ride is by no means flawless, but its pretty cool, and now it's tearing me apart between choosing to go to Disneyland or Knott's for the summer. I was cautiously open to this new attraction, and it met my expectations well. And honestly, it might have been mentioned before, I think this new ride helps give variety to all four Towers, which are already unique in their own way. Plus this might be me, but does anyone else think that Mission Breakout is kinda like a Marvel version of Tokyo's TOT? You have a guy who "collects" things and one of his collections starts wreaking havoc on the building.
  17. I just lost my wallet and I can't remember where I last saw it (last time I remember seeing it was last Tuesday night). Part of me thinks that I could've knocked it in the garbage by accident, but I dug around to find it, although I feel that I don't look for things hard enough. I wish that I could remember things better, and I wish that my anxieties didn't cloud my judgement and I could just look harder.
  18. Given that the area is kinda sorta close to Whitewater Falls, what I'm predicting is that they'll remove WWF in the future and use that space plus the Invertigarden for a water coaster. I could be wrong, but that's just my guess.
  19. I'm actually happy that Six Flags will likely not convert theirs (okay, maybe Apocalypse would be okay...). I think that stand-ups need to live on at least in some places. And it helps that Six Flags generally has better stand-ups than Cedar Fair does. I hope they stay as they are for a good, long time. I agree. Riddler is the only good standup coaster I've ever been on (although I haven't been on that many standups tbh, and I thought Mantis was okay before it became Rougarou). The difference is quite interesting between CF and SF with their standups, and yeah it'd be a shame to see these types of coasters completely die out, so I'm at least glad SF is taking good care of them.
  20. I could easily see them do a butterless conversion That would be great for the lactose intolerant guests. I don't know about flourless, though, as the gluten free fad is pretty much over. I would think a gluten free roller coaster would go over much better in Silicon Valley.
  21. I was planning to go on opening day to meet up with some Facebook fans, however my family might have other plans and I have no means of transportation to get there at the moment. So it's unclear right now.
  22. I understood and even forgave the delays to Gold Striker since this was the first time they had built a coaster in years plus all the stuff they had to put up with the neighboring buildings (and I can also forgive ME's delay because of the new technology). And yes, a delay by only a week isn't that bad especially for something like Patriot, I'm just saying that I've been seeing a pattern with these delayed openings.
  23. The park just announced Patriot will open April 1st. I knew that something like this would happen. Seems typical for CGA to have delayed openings for their new rides. First Firefall, then Gold Striker and Mass Effect, and now this. I'm not complaining or anything (wasn't truly looking that forward to Patriot), but it seems like a pattern going on with this park.
