  1. Given my past experiences with opening days at the park, I say it might be very busy and operations may be very slow as well. I might skip opening day and go the following saturday unless they're planning some sort of opening ceremony for Mass Effect.
  2. I'm kinda curious how they'll pull off the ice skating in front of the carousel. Does this mean they'll be removing the fountains or are they going to place some sort of artificial ice rink over the pool? Either way, this event sounds interesting.
  3. I don't think it'd be a huge loss to the SF Bay Area as much as it would the San Jose/Santa Clara area (along with most of the central California area). This is the closest theme park to my hometown (yeah, there's also Gilroy Gardens, but that's not my thing anymore), and it would really suck if they managed to shut it down. I would do anything in the world just to let CGA live. Politicians never lie, right? I can potentially buy the "wanting the park to stay" part, but I have my doubts over the "never saw the presentation" part. Though it would be interesting if history is really repeating itself between the city of Santa Clara and CGA
  4. I dunno, most of the recent news articles on the ride still says that it will be motion based. Plus looking at footage of the system on MM's website, it is capable of motion, just probably not as dynamic as the previous system.
  5. Granted, but the Earth gets overpopulated. I wish that we could all have unlimited money
  6. Well they just showed off the new ride system for Mass Effect. Turns out the old system is gone for good. I was kinda hoping they'd work with Simex-Iwerks on the new system since I know they had an updated version of the old one that has built-in 4D effects. But I'm just glad they didn't get Triotech to do it. Though I'm unsure who actually developed this. Judging from this picture, it looks like the ride might not have as much motion as the previous system (mainly due to the lack of seat belts). I am interested to see how it will work in action. UPDATE: After doing some research, I believe I can 99% confirm these seats are MediaMation's MX4D system
  7. Well, we lost another great voice actor. Joe Alaskey passed away from cancer at the age of 63. He was best known for voicing some of the Looney Tunes characters during the 90's and 2000's, most notably Bugs and Daffy.
  8. According to a recent LA Times article, they announced that 3D Live will be working on the holographic elements for ME: New Earth. And they're hinting at using the holographic effects in a similar manner to something like the Holodeck. 9. When Disney or Universal buys out a theme park that they didn't build
  10. When Simex-Iwerks stops re-editing full-length movies and labeling them as a 4D ride.
  11. Now how will there ever be a Labyrinth sequel?! Well, at least that gives me reason to rewatch the original movie and listen to the soundtrack. I think this particular song will always be my favorite of his:
  12. I thought so! This is exactly what's been bugging me with Simex-Iwerks nowadays. Most of their current library consists of re-edited movies that they label as a ride. I mean, I could give Happy Feet at CGA some fairness as they took parts of the film that seemed the most like a ride. But the other recent "ridefilms" (especially given what I heard about the new PR ride) just looks like lazy effort. I understand making new content can be expensive, but why even bother with using IPs like this at all if you're not going to do something interesting with them? With the new dinosaur craze going around I wouldn't mind them bringing Dino Island back, although I will say the film (or at least the CG in it) is a tad outdated. Also, wasn't 7th Portal made especially for CGA? Granted I never visited SFDK as much as the other California parks, but did it really play there?
  13. Considering people have said the quality of the show is starting to get a bit better and rumors of the original creator returning, maybe it could be a good thing. Though I personally would rather work for Cartoon Network than Nickelodeon.
  14. So how much you wanna bet this'll be another Happy Feet at CGA by taking the original film and shortening it to a 5 minute "ride"?
  15. I find this statement rather interesting IMO. So the people were begging for SFDK to bring their Action Theater back, while most people didn't care about CGA's Action Theater, even though they're basically the same attraction.
