Best Six Flags Park
stormrush replied to OrlandoGuy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Having been to 7 Six Flags parks (GAdv, OT, Fiesta, OG, NE, America, and St. Louis), I think my overall favorite might be Fiesta Texas. I was very pleasantly surprised by the park's charm, location, and I really enjoyed the time I spent there this past summer. Of course it has its rough spots here and there, but I've yet to find a Six Flags park without rough spots. Great Adventure, Over Georgia, and Over Texas are also great parks with great rides, there was just something about Fiesta that made it stand out to me. -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

I just rode it a couple of days ago. I had a similar experience as you. Most of the ride ran great; however, around the camera it started getting pretty rough. It was my first time riding and although it was an amazing and crazy ride, the rough ending put it behind El Toro and Outlaw Run for me. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
stormrush replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes and the back seat is certainly bumpy or just uncomfortable Sometimes but its still isnt like, ouch that hurt! If you sit in the middle in the back there is little to no problems. Its just with the wings. And it only happens in the last 3 rows. And it is always vibrating in the gray corner, but thats the only spot I may be going back to HP in a couple of weeks, and I was wondering how the middle and back center seats on Skyrush compare to the very front center seats. I rode a wing seat in the front and I found the increased forces a bit hard on my back, but I had no problem with the center front seats. I'm just trying to figure out if I want to risk riding towards the back in the center seats (I'd like to experience the back seats just to see how the airtime is back there, but don't want to aggravate my back). The wing seats are definitely more intense than the center seats no matter where you sit. The center seats in the back definitely don't throw you around as much as the wing seats in the back, however, I don't ride in the front very much so I guess I don't have much of a comparison. Also, after my second visit to Hershey this year, I can say that even though they slowed down the lift, Skyrush is still just as insane as last year and the slowdown is only noticeable at the top of the lift. Also I don't know if it has been mentioned, but I believe they replaced those ugly nets in the spray ground with actual tarp to block the sun, and it looks much nicer now (sorry didn't have a camera so no pics). -
Sorry to bump this thread, but I'm going to be visiting SFOT for my first time next saturday (unfortunately, this was the only day my schedule allows me to visit) and I was looking for advice. I was mainly wondering what the best way is to get all the coasters in and still have time for multiple rides on NTAG. Since its a saturday i was thinking about possibly getting a flash pass, but I'd rather not spend the extra money. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

I'm still holding out for a RMC creation or a Mack/Intamin launched coaster. I think that spot would be perfect for a ride like Outlaw Run or something like Helix. I feel like a Leviathan type ride would be somewhat pointless with Diamondback (I still don't understand why Wonderland needed 2 B&M megas). -

Edit: never mind- thought I found some info on the new ride, got excited and posted before researching much (they used Aftershock as the title for the page and I forgot it was the park's GIB), my bad. Carry on with speculation... -

stormrush replied to Chroniq's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Riding Skyrush the night before it opened in the back left wing seat . 2. Discovering the 3rd seat on Phoenix and riding it 17 times in one day . -
Stand-Up Coasters
stormrush replied to 11slataus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've found almost all the stand-ups that I have ridden to be rather painful and unenjoyable (Mantis, Vortex, Green Lantern/Chang). However, I agree with others that Scorcher is an exception and was actually a really fun ride. Even though Scorcher was fun, I still think that the stand-up coaster is B&M's worst type of coaster, and would only like to see them bring it back if they can find a way to make the rides more comfortable (not just the restraints, but I've also found stand-ups to be rougher than other B&Ms- maybe its just their age?). -

This exactly. I have noticed that once a problem is reported they are very quick to get it fixed. And also, I305 has killer airtime, and OTSR's, so why wouldn't it work? Technically, they could do OTSRs, but I really hope that never happens. In my opinion, Skyrush's lack of OTSRs is one of the best parts of the train design. The lack of them gives a great sense of freedom that makes the ride just that much more amazing. However, I do hope they do something with the restraints to make them more comfortable. -

Wow!!! This looks absolutely amazing. I'm very impressed with some of Mack's latest coasters (Blue Fire, Storm and now this). They're really stepping up their game. Now if only we could get one of these over here in the eastern U.S...(One of these would fit perfectly in SOB's spot at KI). -
Golden Ticket Awards 2012 Results
stormrush replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Agreed. Some of my thoughts... -Carowind's Intimidator practically put me to sleep, but it came in as 7 ahead of I305 and Skyrush??? -I've only ridden 2 of the 6 "new for 2012's" listed, but even though Wild Eagle was fun, I thought Skyrush was way better. -Although it is interesting how the wooden poll seems more reasonable than the steel. Oh well...at least there's still Mitch's. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
stormrush replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not being snarky, but how many parks have you been to that truly have good operations? I'm talking parks like Knoebels, Holiday World, Disney/Universal parks, Cedar Point, Dollywood, etc.? Because if you've never been to those parks, your basis for comparison is pretty far off. Hershey's operations are almost as bad as it gets for an American park (which in most cases is a pretty low standard). I have actually been to all the parks you listed except for Holiday World (hoping to get there soon). And I know that Hershey is no where near their standard. Having recently visited Dollywood for the first time, I was very impressed with their operations. I'm not saying that Hershey's operations are great, because they definitely aren't. I just dont think they're worse than a typical six flags park like some people make them out to be. But like I said before I may just be used to them since I go there so much. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
stormrush replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, opening day dispatches were terrible. I timed them on a day in mid July and they averaged between 3 and 3 1/2 minutes. Which still isn't that great, but at least its an improvement. Also, I havn't really noticed all these bad operations that everyone complains about. Sure, their not the best, but I find most Six Flags parks to be much worse. Then again, I might have gotten use to the operations since I visit Hershey so much. -

Finally decided to get an account... Just wanted to say that your photos are amazing!! And I agree- Storm Runner seems like one of the most underrated coasters. Its definitely in my top 10.
