If we're being honest here, and by some wild chance Darien Lake only introduces this show -- it wouldnt be all that bad IF they worked on some internal issues in the park. People are always complaining about the bathrooms, maybe give some/all of them a touch-up, People seem a little so-so on the customer service... Admit it, we've seen work being done with that already. The facebook and twitter pages being used alot more and at least Darien did try to hype over their announcement this time which was nice. Maybe we'll get lucky and see just as much work inside the park customer-service wise as we've begun to see outside. And Lastly, Two train operations coming back is a great thing to hear. I cant wait to see how they pull off two train operations on Boomerang ... *EXTREME SARCASM ALERT* and I did enjoy the decals they attempted to place on RoS and Viper last year, maybe some more touch ups on the other coaster trains? Sure, we may not get a new ride, but we are kind of seeing them working to improve the rides they already have, in my opinion that can be just as good. In the end, ride or no ride, 2014 should be a good year, as long as it doesnt rain as much as it did in 2013, then it should be fine. Good things come to those who wait my friends, and more importantly, patience is a virtue

That was the entertainment announcement. Whether there will or will not be a new ride had yet to be confirmed. Both of you guys do have good points. What kills me is they know how everyone was all over the rumored re-vamp of Predator, and even though it wasn't Darien that pulled the plug - I remember screamscape or something saying it was CNL - on the 2014 project, they did dish out several other possibilities in those little surveys. Yet, the big news was just Nik Walenda's hour long tight rope show. not that I'm against the guy or anything but when guests are anticipating a new ride of some sort or maybe a return of rides that went M.I.A. and what not, I wouldn't say that this announcement was timed the right way. If there is a new ride announcement, which Im not to positive there will be, I would say that it would've been a much better idea to announce that first and follow it with the Tight Rope show thing. Of course thats just in my opinion. Anyway, if this is all Darien is coming to 2014 with, I wouldnt expect a big boost in admittance at all, Honestly I'd say it would remain about the same, or drop slightly. Hopefully I'm wrong and they announce something else and/or the show does bring in more guests and 2014 is successful for everyone. but then again... I'm more glass half-full...

I really liked the ending of that article where it mentioned that they're already planning for the next coaster. Not that I'm going to rush it, they can take their time - Like me saying anything would change that - But it definitely added some optimism to the article.

I'm kind of expecting the same things as you, but here's what I would expect: 1. Another flat ride to go in UFO's spot 2. Some sort of new show line up like they have every year 3. The reopening of 'Cuda Falls 4. A retheme of Ride of Steel Remove the last two and I think you may have a more realistic view on 2014. The only thing that gets me is they've been saying how excited they are, and what a great season they're anticipating. I would assume this would mean they are hoping this announcement would cause for an increase in visitors and maybe a new Darien Lake classic... And not to mention I think this is one of the first times Darien has had an actual "Announcement" that wasn't simply on the internet or part of a season pass holder benefits thing or whatever. So regardless of the actual announcement I do enjoy that they are kind of organizing the announcement a little more then they have in the past. I think hiring this new digital media guy was a GREAT idea on Darien Lake's part. I look forward to seeing what else they have in store for us in the future!

Not that I mean to double post or anything. But for once, I have something this thread hasn't received in a while... Wait for it... NEWS! Looks like Darien Lake is teaming up with Timmy Ho's for their big 2014 "New Entertainment Announcement" next Wednesday! Finally a date in which stuff will be revealed and food will be available because its TIM HORTONS! My question is why make the announcement in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week, at two different Tim Horton's' (Not sure where the apostrophe goes on a plural possessive in this case... ) And of course the burning question this thread seems to have had since, like, EVAR... What will this "big announcement" actually be? Honestly, Im just glad for the first time in forever (Frozen reference ) We actually have a set date in which we are given the news. And now that I think about it. Them commenting that they couldn't "Spill the beans" actually had some meaning... Coffee Beans! Yes, I know, I am a dork. anyways. Hmmm, I wonder what area of Darien Lake is next for a "revamp"? I'd say since they kinda touched up on the Viper in 2010 and of course Rowdy's Ridge in 2012 and The Boardwalk / Laser Amphitheater re-vamp in 2013... the only area left with major rides is the little RoS/Predator area. But speculation aside, the park could use a new website... Not to be critical, but compared to some other park sites, Darien Lake's isn't too wonderfully put together in my opinion. Then again, I'm not a fan of the Six Flags site either... No need to freak out over my mini speculation earlier. Im not going to obsess and insist it gets done as most other "new for 2014?!" posts on here seem to show

So if you're on facebook, you might've seen the contest for free redhawk/slingshot ride passes based on the SeaHawks winning -- And i think there was something about comical commercials in there So the point I mention it is I'm curious, did Darien Lake ever give out said "Free Ride" passes before or is this a new thing? Not like its a burning question, just a curiosity.

I was just on the site and noticed that, it must have been an error! Just like over summer when Mind Eraser wasnt listed ... yet Ironically it was pictured at the top of the page anyways. Not really news, but I'd like to mention that I've noticed Darien Lake really doing a lot more with their facebook and twitter pages! And finally after 3 months of them being closed they removed the "The park is now OPEN for the 2013 season!" note from their website. They've been quick to respond to most things people have posted towards them, and to my knowledge they seem pretty helpful at that. Could this be a step forward for them do you think? Because if i remember correctly they've posted a lot more in the past few weeks than they really did over summer...

Very glad to hear that two train operations will be returning. I'm wondering if they're going to attempt with the decals on the RoS trains again this year or not, I remember they fell off pretty quickly last year... and from what I heard the Viper decals didnt work out to well in the end either..

Looking at all of these joyful giddy coaster fanatics reacting to their Bags o crap really makes me proud to be a part of the TPR community. I love seeing what's inside each care package and the big thank yous to and from both the giving and receiving parties and the all around gratitude from all involved. Thank you Rob and Elissa for making this site as amazingly awesome and involved as it is! and of course thanks to all the members who add to the excitement and fun of the site too! Especially this thread in particular!

So after a little Facebook Stalking, I found this, which based on how I read it is a semi-confirmation of the Lake Monster; But before anyone gets excited, it also kinda shows that though it may not happen in 2014, its a possibility in the future. Also it's the only time I've ever seen Darien Lake comment on or even acknowledge the fact that their guests even know what the Lake Monster project possibly is. Just thought it was worth a share... And while I'm at it. Back on the 20th, Darien wrote several times to guests that the 2014 Operating calendar and New attractions would be announced "Very soon" and that they were "Very excited" about it... I know from here and Facebook that the calendar was released, so what about the new attractions? Anyone have any thoughts on that?

So, I have been trying to find this song for a very long time, and since Darien Lake replied once via Email but never again afterwards, maybe this thread can help out a little bit. Does anyone know the name of the song at 27:02? Like I said, I e-mailed Darien and they gave me a title but no artist and the song that kept showing up wasn't the right song, and Shazam isn't doing me any good either... Thanks!

Maybe Darien Lake is sending their UFO ride to Martin's Fantasy Island! From what I saw... It was announced at IAAPA that it would be a KMG Speed ride. It would be great to see the UFO return which I know it was rumored that it would in 2014 but nothing is for sure at Darien

I say the next area on the list should be Hook's Lagoon, that place needs to have it water guns and dump buckets fixed up and, oh yeah they should reopen 'Cuda Falls so the Swirl City/Torando/Big Kahuna area doesn't get 2 hour wait lines! Sorry Geauga Dog, this isn't the best place to find information on what will actually happen at Darien Lake at any point in time. Im not so sure I would say you can never get information about the park on this thread... Sure Information never sparks from The DL Thread but you can find out what's going on in the park at times. TPR has people who love to search all over for happenings at parks and these users are proud to share what they find... Only thing is it is a "Discussion Thread" so I mean, you get rumors, news, and the well known "DL Wishlist" that some say this thread has become. In the end, though I don't really expect anything new from Darien Lake in 2014, if they do make any announcements for anything, even if its just some small improvements, they pretty much have all the way up until media day to do so. (Like when they waited until March to tell us about rowdy's ridge in 2012) It would take a christmas miracle for any announcements soon. But in other news, at least Fantasy Island gave a teaser back when their season ended to their new ride... Way to go Martin's Fantasy Island!

GateKeeper at Cedar Point! Not the most exciting ride, I know, but still a fun coaster in my opinion!

I'm not sure what the plans are for Cuda Falls for next season but I do know that originally it was planned to open this past season. The number of operating trains, as with any park, is based on attendance. I don't think there was enough attendance overall to justify running 2 trains on the coasters. The bathrooms are actually cleaned multiple times a day but I imagine there are dozens of reasons as to why they quickly are dirtied again. I thought I heard somewhere that there was one train operations to do major overhauling on the second trains due to poor conditions or something like that...

When I see that Stampede reference, I see a big Buffalo Pride thing there . Not that I wouldn't love it, but Stampede and the current train colors and obviously track colors don't mix... Green track brown supports (Like the new paint job of Jr Gemini at CP...) and some train theming perhaps? Probably not going to happen (Sadly) but that's what I thought of upon seeing that name

^ Though I love the Idea of Vortex being the new name, there's sadly more of a chance it will remain the Ride of Steel more than anything. If so, I think it would be cool to give it the "Steel" feel and make the color scheme more metallic and fitting for the title. Like greys and silvers, maybe even black. Giving it a nice futuristic look and keeping the name all in one!

So after browsing Screamscape, I see that nothing has changed since October 21st and by now the Lake Monster idea is a little too far to fathom being a 2014 coaster. With that being said... Does anyone know of ANY changes to the park in 2014? I Know this year there was some nice work done to Viper's trains and some new theming of the emporium and what not. But In the means of social media, I have yet to see any 2014 announcements of any kind being made. I would suspect by now, if we do get anything new, its going to be announced poorly like in 2012 with rowdy's ridge. And just because I find it funny, I love how the website still states Darien Lake is "Now OPEN for the 2013 season!" though it says right above there that the season has clearly ended.

I think it was in pretty good condition when Darien Lake removed it. Last time I've heard it was in storage (not in Galaxy Theater!) at the park! I could think of places in the park where Scrambler could be relocated to . Under Viper where the mini golf course was . Somewhere in the vicinity of the Twister Tin Lizzys Motocoaster area .Somewhere in the Ride of Steel area Putting a ride of any kind in that mini golf area would be amazing! Would that sidewinder fit in there by chance? How cool would that be, the viper area getting a nice new look with the addition of a cool new ride! Or, maybe if there is enough space (I'm not sure i never really went in the put put area) have a return of the scrambler and raging seas, making a little mini plaza! Honestly they could just rip out the golf course and place grass seed and the viper would look better. what potential that part of the park has! (galaxy theater, go karts, put put etc...) but thinking realistically, after they just did work over there in 2012, and then moved over to the new boardwalk in 2013, maybe they're going to do some more jumping around before that area is looked into again. Mind eraser anyone? Thats a pretty dead end part of the park. one ride, a pond. Not too much... All in good hopes for some nice continuations of the fresh new look of the park we've been seeing over the past two years... Slowly but surly I'm hoping that black top will get replaced...
