  1. Yes I know, I was just saying it would be nice to do some real "discussing" on the Discussion thread. Anyways I'm shocked Ride-Ops would be mentioning the Lake Monster before it's confirmation... That seems like something that in any other park would cause for punishment (Kings Island i think.. and Especially Cedar Point) I mean leave it to darien lake to loosely cover up a new coaster and all but some parks keep their new rides tightly under wraps until announcement day. Sometimes you can just see the more Laid Back aspect of it in Parks like Darien. Still excited though!
  2. I always hate when this thread freezes. You know, when it goes on for days and days without a post? Considering the possibility of Lake Monster becoming increasingly more realistic... shouldn't the thread be a little more well; exciting?
  3. Just wanted to mention the article said therides footprint SIZE wouldn't change, not the position...
  4. Ok, i dont want to be cussy towards you but... holy s**t! did you say footers??? The one sign I was waiting for to see this coaster be a go! Please tell me these are proof this is a 2014 coaster!!! (Pictures anyone???) sorry, kinda got excited...
  5. Has anyone heard anything at all about the Lake Monster other than the survey? I mean its already August 13th, fright fest is going to kick off soon, but no mention of the new ride or any new footers anywhere or any sign of construction at all honestly... Does anyone at all know anything whatsoever except that it was a possible mention in a survey? I mean, the last thing on Screamscape is from July 23rd, Coasterfusion has a post (very short might I add) mentioning the survey on July 22nd, CoasterForce also mentioned the survey on July 22nd, Wikipedia now has some mention on Predator being "re-tracked to go over the lake", The Coaster Critic posted on July 26th... etc etc etc but theres nothing recent, nothing new, nothing interesting, its just survey after survey being pointed out in these articles. i liked it better when Cedar Point started to tease the new ride, ScreamScape had posts all the time about what could possibly be this new CP.altWinged coaster which turned into gatekeeper. I loved the anticipation and the accidental site release was hysterical. Even Kings Island had some fun with their teasers, they sent silver combs to media outlets, had signs by the construction site mentioning screaming in the dead of the night, kept dropping hints via twitter (Misleading some to the name "bat") and then when the time came for banshee to be announced, the crowd went NUTS at the sight of the new name, logo, EVERYTHING! I want that at Darien Lake, Some fun introducing the new ride, not just holding it off as long as possible and then just releasing a picture saying "here it is..." They've been pretty well known to do that. I know at the time, they were still owned by Parc, but how did they introduce the MotoCoaster, or in 1999 with the RoS, (I know, six flags is different) How did they announce the States tallest roller coaster? Are there any patterns to these ride announcements that anyone else is seeing (other than they dont announce in the summer...)
  6. Hmmm, is that what i think it is??? Are these... tombstones placed around the track layout? I think they are! Love the theming!!!
  7. In my mind, it would be ashame to take down the mean streak... just because it looks so cool. Sure it isn't the best, smoothest most amazing wooden coaster ever, but in my opinion its still fun. If you would like to complain about roughness, please be my guest and ride Darien Lake's predator in the back seat. Stomach twisting pain inducing fun!!! What I would rather see, is an RMC track revamp. like the track on the SDC's Outlaw Run. That would be great to see at the park. Lastly, the park is under with the loss of 2 coasters in 1 year. I think it would be best to add a few more before destroying another one dropping 16 to 15 then 14, maybe back up to 15 eventually... you know? I remember seeing on one of the parks facebook posts, a supposed Cedar Point ex-engineer called for 21 coasters by 2020 which could be a possibility, or it could be completely wrong... but one can hope Ride On, friends!
  8. THough yes, the red blob would be interesting, they shoot off the fireworks for Ignite the Night on that first island there... I say it should literally go in the water, not on land. if its called LAKE monster, make it go over the LAKE... right?
  9. I rode outer right back seat on the 4th of July and I was very comfortable on the coaster. The only "uncomfortable" part was right before the immelman when it got a little shaky. The vest idea was awesome compared to raptors over the shoulder restraints. Thats why I'm glad KI is getting the same restraints for Banshee. Maybe its just me and everyone else is complaining about some crazed experience they had with the same exact ride. Sorry guys, but i sense some over reacting here...
  10. Ok Darien Lake, Kings Island announced they're opening a new coaster in 2014 already... an Inverted Steel coaster. Now be a good little theme park and show us what you're adding before you go to bed without dinner. Didn't want it to have to come to this but drastic times call for drastic measures Mister!
  11. I love how this thread went from I believe 680 something to 714 in a day. Gotta love what a new coaster does to serious enthusiasts...
  12. I love Screaming Swings but they don't exactly have the reliability of a Giant Frisbee. Cedar Point has been having quite a lot of problems with there's and I know there was another park (I want to say silver dollar city) that removed theirs due to mechanical issues and failures
  13. Sorry about that... The 2 people above my entry called them Wing Riders, so i just kept the pattern going... oops
  14. I would bet it's because everyone was "offended" that the park wouldn't accept the same-sex marriage applications. I'm rather upset that something that was supposed to be fun for everyone was ruined because of homophobic people and ones pushing same-sex marriage. I'm for same sex marriage, I believe you should be able to marry who you love. But seriously, it's not like Cedar Point had a choice. It's illegal in the state of ohio. Considerations of applications wouldn't make a difference. Not that i want to be "That Guy" or anything but I'm pretty sure thats why this was cancelled. So in the end. Maybe in a perfect world X years from now, Cedar Point will be able to do this event for real with more than just Heterosexual couples. But please guys, don't turn this thread into a protest against one little event in the middle of a huge gay rights movement. Everything will work out soon enough for all of us.
  15. That is a good point, but I'm saying that with them having to remove a ride for a bigger (and hopefully better one) They need to tell us soon what's going on. And for the record, That small survey on the huss frisbee - Sidewinder, I would not be more disappointed if that's what they opened instead of the Lake Monster. In my opinion, its both or Just the coaster. Not just the SideWinder. I mean all the enthusiasts would be completely let down if this coaster was pushed back to make way for a MaXair type ride. Sure the Frisbee is a fun ride and all. But I'd much rather see the well needed coaster first. not a frisbee. (of course if it is a frisbee i want the maXair "Giant Frisbee" or "Giant Star" or whatever its original name is, not the tiny little frisbee. that would be like a little swinging ufo. just saying) I'm gonna patiently wait for FrightFest to roll around and if we don't hear anything about the coaster or see any signs of construction, then I'm sure that this 2014 coaster was a sheer disappointment that won't happen. Sorry to be so pessimistic about it. EDIT: the huss website has a slim difference between the Frisbee XL and the Giant Frisbee not sure which is which...
  16. Seriously? The wing rider is a new concept in the coaster world, there's only 3 of them in the united states for gods sake. If it is a wing rider, (And i'm not saying it is) there shouldn't be so much negativity towards it. Prior to contrary belief, I enjoyed the GateKeeper, it was a unique experience that was smooth, full of inversions, and the unique Keyhole idea over the beautiful new front entrance. I saw online somewhere that GateKeeper was given mainly positive reviews, and why wouldn't it? sure it isn't as phenomenal as the furious raptor or the insane Millennium Force, but it's awesome in its own way and as i've heard, better than the only 2 other coasters in the country like it. I think it would be cool if it was a Wing Rider. I'd even be okay with an invert too, but c'mon everyone. Wing Riders are not that bad. And look at the train theming... it looks cool! awesome on the ride or off. Wing Riders are good coasters sooo....
  17. Already, the announcement is only a DAY AWAY! I cant wait to see this thread change from "Oh I wonder what it's going to be" To "OH MY GOD I LOVE THE _____!" If only they were going to stream it live, I would watch it... oh well. hopefully some one with a good HQ camera will be there to record the unveiling of the new coaster. I'm hoping that they blow us away with something we would have never seen coming...
  18. So I did some looking into it to see if there was any pattern at all to when and/or how they announce rides at Darien, and I have to say, there is NO PATTERN WHATSOEVER! Here's why I say that... On January 13th 2008 - the park announced the addition of their 6th (or 7th if you count the hoot n' holler) Roller Coaster to be built, the OCC MotoCoaster. In March 2010 - Darien lake announced the expansion of the Water park, Splashtown. On March 2nd 2012, the park announced the addition of Rowdy's Ridge, the Kiddie Area and Lastly On September 21st 2012 - Darien Lake announced Blast Off! and Ignite the Night. Comparing this to other announcement dates from other parks... August 9th 2012 - Silver Dollar City (Sister Park of Darien Lake) Officially announces Outlaw Run August 13th 2012 - Cedar Point announces GateKeeper August 8th 2013 - Kings Island is to announce new Roller Coaster August 21st 2013 - DollyWood ( a sister park of Darien Lake) is to announce a New MAJOR attraction So what I'm wondering now is, Will Darien Lake to any sort of Teaser for this "new coaster" at all? or will they do what they did last year with Blast off and just post it to their FaceBook page on a random day in September again? I'm also wondering Why would 2 of Darien Lakes sister parks have announcement dates in August, for 2 Roller Coasters (Not sure if thats true for DollyWood) and then have Darien Lake announce their new coaster after Labor day? Thoughts?
  19. ^ Tallest and Fastest NON-LAUNCH wing rider... I just love that they used the exact gatekeeper picture and did not change a thing to it. Sure they recolored the images but on the actual layout, the trains are still that yellowish gold color...
  20. Sorry for the double post, but something about Lake Monster is bugging me... I want to mention that earlier today (and/or later yesterday) DollyWood - A sister park of Darien Lake announced they will be revealing "2014 Plans from Dolly Herself!" on August 21st. If Darien Lake is supposed to be getting this big awesome ride, why haven't we heard anything from them except for these few little surveys? And if its supposed to be a big ride, why hasn't construction began yet? By this time last year GateKeeper was well under development with the process of Removing the Disaster Transport. This makes me wonder 2 things 1) Is Darien Lake going to Keep predator and add to their currently low coaster count (as compared to Canada's Wonderland thats only a few hours away) and simply build the lake monster CLOSER to the lake... -OR- 2) Has Darien Lake not began the de-struction of Predator to Make Way for Lake Monster because you need to pass under the Predator to reach the Ride of Steel - the Parks star attraction... Sure both of these may be way off... BUT I'm thinking if they don't make an announcement by the end of august, Lake Monster is a no for 2014 because when else would they announce a new BIG ride that could be easily seen from the Allegheny Rd ALL WINTER / SPRING LONG? Introduce it on Media Day 2014? That's my opinion on this. Not to mention I HATED that DL made us wait until MARCH to hear about a new kiddie area. I know it was a big success but making your fans wait all winter is alittle insane when you're the "Largest Theme Park in WNY" I haven't ever been personally let down by this park, YET. But if they don't make a move soon to show us the new and fancy Lake Monster, the park (in my mind) won't be worth it anymore. -REMEMBER- These are JUST MY OPINIONS, nothing in here is complete FACT from anywhere, its just me sharing what I'm thinking about my Home Park to other enthusiasts.
  21. From what I've heard personally about this coaster is that, it was given to the park after it was sold from six flags, but the park that it was removed from, didn't remove it properly. Not to mention obviously the coaster isn't ALL there. I remember hearing the wires were incorrectly cut, and not every necessity of the ride was given to the park. Honestly if what I heard (Probably close to 3 or 4 years ago) is correct, that ride will continue to sit and rot until it is sent to the scrap yard!
  22. The WindSeeker's all closed because the one at I believe Carowinds didn't clear the entire tower and sot stuck for a second time (total) to the point that after an hour they needed to do an evac. versus last year they were stuck for i believe it was 3 hours, which is what caused the last Chain-Wide windseeker shutdown. I would assume if its up and running again at Carowinds, where the problem originally occurred, it should probably start to re-open at the rest of the parks soon. (If it wasn't carowinds, I'm sorry, I read the news post about a week ago, its alittle foggy by now)
  23. I Know this is probably from a page or two back, by now. But Someone said that the Millennium Force, Didn't Have a Mid-Section Break run, If we go by the possibility of the MSBR being at the end, Millennium Force (as I see it) Has a MSBR right before the Safety breaks: Im pretty sure this is right, but I could be wrong... Just trying to resolve the "No MSBR on Millennium" thing!
  24. I usually head to the park on weekdays, preferably tuesdays, In my past experiences, Tuesdays are the best for practical "Walk-on" style rides which Everybody loves! It's like having a FastPass, in a park that doesn't offer FastPass... if that makes any sense. And seeing that its a smaller park, less waiting is always better! Plus, you can only take so much waiting for 6 Coasters...
  25. Darn it you beat me to it! i was literally just about to post this: But I'm thinking with the coaster addition to Kings Island; and GateKeeper being placed this year, I wouldn't expect anything too big. Of course because this is the 3rd teaser I've been waiting for this year (Kings Island, Darien Lake, Cedar Point) I'm Just glad they're getting something!
