  1. I was actually wondering this myself. Ever done pull-ups? Ever done them with the help of one of those pull-up machines? WHOA! WAIT A MINUTE! There's a machine that makes pull-ups easier? Okay, I needed to know this about 22 years ago, back when the Presidential Physical Fitness Award required me to do one. One pull up. It was the third hardest thing I've ever done.
  2. Cool, thanks for sharing! It didn't look to me like anything was being done. Should have gotten closer to it, apparently.
  3. Nothing yet, and I wouldn't expect it right now. December is insanely busy for Branson.
  4. I wouldn't say its luxury due to the fact that Hydra was the last true new coaster to go to the park in 2005. Got two relocated coasters and a relocated Demon Drop. I see what you're saying though. If you're not happy with it, we'll take a re-relocated Demon Drop at Worlds of Fun....
  5. That actually sounds awesome to me! I don't know if I missed the point, but I'm guessing you mean it's stupid because it doesn't exist? It should exist! A launched Giga coaster does sound interesting! I think the reason why the kids were accused of saying stupid things is because they had this idea while at Silver Dollar City and not at Worlds of Fun. So, they may have been confused as to which park they were at or they actually meant a launched giga coaster should open at Worlds of Fun. Or maybe they thought Powder Keg was a launched giga, and said Worlds of Fun should get one too. Bingo. CoasterGypsy wins the Guess the Context Contest. Sorry, probably could have made that more clear. But really why it's dumb is that everyone seems to have an opinion about what this or that park needs, without really understanding anything about the business at all. And they weren't children; that was a figure of speech.
  6. Overheard at the exit of Powder Keg today: "A launched giga coaster--that's what Worlds of Fun needs." The moral of this story, kids: Don't say stupid things. It'll be posted in the Internet.
  7. Sounds like this might be the thread you're looking for: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1070686#p1070686
  8. This is a really good video. I feel like a lot of No Limits "RMC" coasters just copy elements that have been done on other RMC coasters, and the whole thing just seems off. This one really captures that RMC feel.
  9. Youtube--almost daily. I watch videos but do not post. YouTube comments are bad for the blood pressure. Reddit--couple times a week, mostly reading, occasionally posting. Facebook--occasionally, to get news on companies and parks I want to follow. I do not have an account; I just go to their page when I want to. Facebook comments are also bad for the blood pressure. That's all. I don't really have time for social media, or rather, I choose to do other things with my time.
  10. I like your analysis of Voyage being all roller coasters in one. Made me think back on my trip last summer. I was almost overwhelmed by it; it just tried so hard to throw us around as much as possible. Most coasters have a safe, fun feel that hints at being out of control, but Voyage truly feels like it's a wild animal that does not want you riding. Coming off Voyage gives a sense of exhilaration at having accomplished something. It instantly rocketed to #2, right behind Outlaw Run, and I have a feeling it may stay there a while.
  11. That looks like the same exact layout as our kids' coaster. With less trees around it, lol. Must be the same company that made both. Wouldn't surprise me. In that case, you got the better deal. Hot Springs doesn't quite have the same level of culture that Vancouver does.
  12. I've ridden four, and I would rank them thus: Thunderation, Silver Dollar City Roadrunner Express, Six Flags Fiesta Texas River King Mine Train, Six Flags St. Louis Big Bad John, Magic Springs If plans work out and King's Island happens next year, I'm excited to try out Adventure Express. I hear good things.
  13. I thought Diamond Mine Run at Magic Springs was really good. It had better theming than most kiddie coasters, was quite smooth, and the first drop had some kick for being so small. We rode it more than any of the big coasters, though to be fair, it was also because it had the only decent ride op in the whole park.
  14. Wow, that's awful. I went and did some research on that; glad everyone was okay in the end. Scary.
  15. ^ Thanks for sharing! Yeah, they clearly had no idea what they were doing. The way the one guy kept taking the podium back every time he has a thought. And that whole "It's not a theme park, it's a ministry" angle--yeah, I got nothing.
  16. ^ Exactly. I'm really excited for Valravn, and a lot of that comes from seeing Oblivion in RCT2 many years ago. Finally there's a dive coaster near me, and I just have to go. The 90's were all about height and speed, but a lot of my favourite coasters are relatively small, but give me that "what just happened?" feeling. I would love for Valravn to evoke that; it may not look like it based on the layout, but I would love for it to surprise everyone. Next year may very well be my first chance to go to Cedar Point, and although Millennium Force has been my reason for wanting to go for 15 years now, it's Valravn that's sealing it as "I must find a way to do this."
  17. My favourite roller coaster is Outlaw Run, and it's utterly perfect. The only thing that can possibly be improved is if the restraints were a bit easier to raise once the ride is over. I feel like I'm really having to lift it off. Other than that, it's impossible to improve.
  18. I'm amazed at the prices of almost everything, really. The Ozarks has one of the cheapest cost of living in North America, which is nice but has the unfortunate side effect of making travel very expensive. When we went to Chicago last year, gas was fully $1 more per gallon than at home. To give you an idea, I can buy groceries for a family of 5 for $75 a week. That's basically how we attract businesses; we're all willing to work for pretty cheap. You can own a home, two cars, raise a family, and take an annual vacation on about $15 an hour here.
  19. Big thank you to everyone who's taking pictures! Super excited for this coaster.
  20. ARM towers are amazing. I went on the one at Beech Bend, and it didn't pause at the top, which was just freaky. I never really knew when we had reached the top, and it came down so fast I was out of my seat basically freefalling. I've been on Superman: Tower of Power and Giant Drop, and while both are much bigger, they don't have anything on Zero-G at Beech Bend. If Kennywood does get an ARM tower, you guys should be ecstatic.
