What do YOU take with you to a park?
narkitty replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm like most people here and keep it light. I usually just bring my ID, debit card & season pass, keys and cell phone. Sometimes I need advil or other random small knick knacks, so I will wear a small bag on my waist (smaller than a fanny pack), but usually if it doesn't fit in my pockets, I don't take it in the park. -
TR: Yin Goes To Texas/Midwest with TPR!
narkitty replied to gerstlaueringvar's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great trip report so far! I always love seeing my home parks from the perspective of someone not from Texas/America. Can't wait to see more pictures. -
I'm so excited for Fright Fest this year!! I wish I wasn't such a baby when it comes to actual haunted houses/mazes, because I really want to see how they are. I'll just have to rely on the reviews and info from others, lol. I'm definitely interested in the shows and new scare zones. I went to FF last year and while I thought that the theming was better than it had been in the past (especially the Rockville area), the scare zones seemed pretty sparse in the way of scare actors. I remember two or three guys in Crackaxle, a few zombies in Rockville and a couple of trolls under the bridge from Los Festivales to Spassburg. It would be nice to see the zones a bit more populated since they seem to be really trying to step things up a notch. It's good timing, if you ask me. Since Nightmare on Grayson (long running San Antonio haunt) closed last year, there is definitely less competition. I've never been to Sea World for their haunt, but they are supposedly changing things up quite a bit this year too. I'm curious to see how SFFT and SW compare with one another. EDIT: I happened across this on Youtube. Preview for Creature Feature 2013, for those interested in shows: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]

Adventuredome Discussion Thread
narkitty replied to gisco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is really off topic, but I was wondering if anyone here could remember the name of the ride/video that used to be in the FX Theater back in the late 90s. It was circus or carnival themed. I've been trying for ages to find a video of it or something because I absolutely loved it when I was a kid. -
Tallest coaster you've been on.

Favorite Defunct Roller Coaster/Ride

^^ I came on here to post the same thing. Man, I miss that ride. I miss Texas Tornado, too. That thing blew my mind as a kid. -
S&S or Intamin
narkitty replied to coastercrazy216's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Intamin drop towers are fantastic, but I think I lean more towards S&S overall. I like the "bounciness" of them. "I really do like the first generation Intamin free fall towers, though. Texas Cliffhanger/Wildcatter at SFOT used to be my favorite ride when I was a kid. The drop on that thing was amazing. -
I don't know the exact age that I started loving coasters. Fiesta Texas opened the year after I was born and my parents took me from the time I was 18 months old. My first coaster was Pied Piper (now Kiddee Coaster) at FT when I was about 3 or 4 and I was HOOKED. My dad and I at Fiesta Texas on my first visit.

Is anyone else going to be playing FFXIV: A Realm Reborn? I'm anxiously waiting until Saturday so that I can get into early access. The beta was a lot of fun. I haven't really enjoyed an MMO in a very long time.

^^^^ I wish. I miss the Lone Star Spectacular. Lone Star Nights is very 'meh' to me. I don't care about watching stock-footage type videos projected on the quarry. The lasers made the show really something unique and campy, and it was a lot of fun. The first time I saw Lone Star Nights, I was ticked off. Mainly I was pissed that they took out all of the Texas history aspects of the show. No more Alamo story...and the park is in SAN ANTONIO.

Based on the location in the picture, it looks like the land near White Water Bay/Crackaxle Canyon. A new water slide or two would be a welcome addition, IMO. I think the last new water slide was Tornado and that was....2007? 2008? I'm not 100% sure on the date. I'm still holding out for this as well, but I doubt that we will get a new coaster the year after Iron Rattler.[youtu_be] [/youtu_be]

Honestly I don't think that I've ever been to SFFT on a day where a flash pass seemed necessary aside from the notoriously busy times of year like Spring Break, 4Th of July, etc. On a typical operation day, lines don't really get that bad. Especially not this time of year when most kids are going back to school. Every time I've been on Iron Rattler, the wait has been less than 30 minutes.

I went to the park yesterday. Operations on Iron Rattler were a little slower because of the seatbelts, but not too bad. I really like the way they designed the belts. There is a small bright orange loop that sticks out from the belt so that the ride ops don't have to go fumbling around in people's laps to see if it is buckled. Lines were very light. I rode everything I wanted within an hour and a half, including multiple rides on iRat. Park was very clean, too. All in all, it was a great day at the park. Sexy, sexy coaster.
