  1. Fourth Dimensional Wing Drop Coaster Wing Rider Cars (2) Vertical Drop Sequence When the train stops before the drop.....the seats flip 360* Once your seat enters it's original position.... DROP!
  2. Google Street View has been Updated. You can now see Magic Mountain from the "street view".
  3. New and Improved Action Zone, or a completely new area. I could see a coaster or two. Surely they can fit more than just ONE coaster back there. P.S. It seems Cedar Fair has found something even more profitable than their food. Selling deteriorated wood at 400,000,000% profit.
  4. www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=454840567887641&set=a.123609194344115.8755.123605507677817&type=1&theater Parking Lot: The Ride?
  5. Six Flags at it's best I doubt SF will ever install anything as good as El Toro or Tatsu ever again. One can dream though
  6. I wonder what will become of the land between GateKeeper and Wicked Twister? Hopefully a nice viewing area/picnic area will be built there. There is quite a bit of open space to work with. And with Mr.O's leadership this might be a nice looking plaza with some foliage. Not just another 10 concrete slabs slapped together.
  7. Does this park open early or year round? It's only September of 2012, a bit early for a 2014 announcement. I just find this odd..... Anyways, Layout looks like HEVAN! -Multiple launches -Lot's of potential for "air" -High Speed turns -Lots of fun inversions -Terrain Hugging -Lengthy -Twisted turns and maneuvers -Dark portions Sounds like the perfect coaster to me......
  8. -Park needs Hundreds of Millions of dollars just to be re-opened and operate. The park has already failed, TWICE, during it's only two years. -Money needs to go to operating costs. Wages, maintenance, food, utilities, taxes, marketing, etc. (dozens of $millions) -Adding 25+ new attractions (possibly 50-75$ million) -Money needed to operate new attractions -Paying off the original park debts and new rides (hundreds of $millions) -Fixing up the park (it's been stranded for 3+ years) Estimated Total: $150 - $200 (in millions) This is even worse than the Kentucky State Fair Board's proposal. Although I do like this pipe-dream. Try hitting 3 HUGE lotto's in a row and this may come to materialize.
  9. "One Big Mega Loop" + "Three Launches" = GP's $$$
  10. Looks Great! Although the top part of the track is darker than what was shown in the renderings. I still LOVE the paint scheme for this coaster regardless. I'm guessing the darker supports are for the station/maintenance bay? Shouldn't be long now until we see some parts arriving on-site. I'm so glad CP went to B&M on this one. Cedar Point services millions of guests a year, the last thing they need is another half-baked Intamin coaster plagued with problems. 2002-Wicked Twister..... Towers needed constant nightly welding, LIMs had to be constantly tuned all season, Additional supports had to be added. 2003-Top Thrill Dragster..... Never Open! Constantly breaking down. 2007-Maverick..... Trains weren't designed properly to withstand forces. Entire track section had to be replaced. Capacity nightmare 2013-GateKeeper..... Will open on time, and STAY OPEN most of the season . B&M does without the million fancy techno-gadgets Intamin uses, their here to design roller coasters not techno-gadget-coasters.
  11. Apparently WindSeeker has reopened. http://www.facebook.com/pages/OkOkAlright-I-must-admit-Cedar-Point-is-Freakin-AWESOME/123605507677817
  12. It's not just you. CCI/Gravity Group has a pretty horrible track record with their larger rides becoming terribly rough after 5-10 years. The only rides with 100+ft drops that seem to have held up are their terrain coasters (i,e, Boulder Dash and Legend). I'm not even sure Boulder Dash counts, since GCI did re-tracking and re-profiling. I've noticed that most terrain coasters aren't nearly as bumpy. I think most of the "bumpiness" has to do with all the vibrations through the support structure. When I was riding the Jack Rabbit(92) @KennyWood Park, I noticed the ride was the smoothest when It was near ground level. It seems the higher you go, the more pain. Topper track is the best solution BY FAR to fix these issues with all these wooden coasters.
  13. Well, MF has TWO of those tacky mailbox tunnels. But at-least those are more hidden by the foliage and a rock facade. It just doesn't do justice for a 306' Beemer.
  14. This is an Amusement Park with a "wonder mountain" and a rainbow entrance to it's childrens' area. The tunnel just seems so out of place. I'm actually one of the few who likes the eyes.
  15. Maybe if they filled in the "hole" at the bottom of Leviathan's drop and did something similar to Goliath(SFMM), the "tunnel section would blend allot better.
  16. Shuttle: Wicked Twister 215' Steel: Top Thrill Dragster 420' Wood: Mean Streak 161'
  17. I do agree, the flying position really seems to make it "that" much more intense. At-lest now we "East Coasters" can experience something similar This could be CP's most intense inversion yet. That Immelmann, and the Dive loop might be grey zones too. And that CamelBack will have to be "triml-less" if the train is expected to make it through the next 2 elements. Good old-fashion beemer forces.
  18. This is going to be a very interesting off-season. Might actually keep track of this from start to finish. Since no-one else brought this up. Who else thinks GateKeeper will pull g's like on Tatsu's Pretzel Loop? The wing over drop and the Pretzel loop have similar design. Although GateKeeper's will be larger and go much faster. So, judging from that, I'd say GK's "wing over drop" will be even more intense than Tatsu's PL. Of course when your laying down, the G's will hit your whole body. Truly making it one-of-a-kind. Well, not really. (Manta, S:UF)
  19. Is it just me, Or do CCI coasters not hold up well over time? Or nearly every wood coaster built in the 90's.
  20. This isn't directly on-topic but I thought Id share. Anyone else notice how smooth the coasters at Kennywood Park are? Jack Rabbit(92), Racer(85), and Thunderbolt(44) are all wooden, and still smooth. Thunderbolt is the smoothest wood coaster I've been on. Kennywood has a great method of preserving their rides, I just wish the big corporate parks (CF,SF) took more care of their woodies. Atleast Six Flags is doing something, even though it completely defeats the purpose of the wood coaster by turning them into steel ones. Not saying that The New Texas Giant/Iron Rattler idea is horrible (I think it's genius). It just shows that parks aren't really caring much for wooden coasters anymore.
  21. I'm sure CP want's to keep this ride mild at best. CP is trying to be more family oriented, and Gemini is really what seperates CCMR from Millennium. It's good to have Coasters for everyone, and not just a park full of crazy rides that only a select few would enjoy.
  22. Just looking at those pictures makes me "iffy". That structure looks nowhere near safe. I've seem roller coaster models made of toothpicks that look 10X more sturdy than that. If a train were to be ran through the course, I could see it snapping through the structure. That I would pay to see.
  23. Saturday crowds during HalloWeekends are ENORMOUS . Expect EVERY ride to have a full que, plus some. Fast pass IS the best way to go. As for a route. Try heading for Maverick, Dragster, Millennium or Raptor first. Those will be the worst of them all. Since you have fast lane, it shouldn't be too bad. Although this is the first HalloWeekends for the Fast Lane at CP, so I can't really give you a good estimate on what FL lines will be like. I'm sure even the FL lines will be longer than usual. Try out some of the haunts too.
  24. Would a launching wooden coaster be too much for the technology of today? Just some simple LSMs. This would work well for a terrain woodie like The Beast.
