  1. I like it when Park's think ahead like this. They probably already had plans, years ago, where the next expansion would go and already poured footers for it. Now they only have to put the supports and slide together, not much ground work needs to be done now, win win.
  2. Opening Day is Saturday, May 11, 2013! 148 days, 17 hours to go! www.cedarpoint.com/hours-directions/cedar-point
  3. You'd be surprised how level the seats are with the track. Legs dangle nearly 3-4' so there is actually more clearance than one would think. Example.
  4. I'd wait 5 hours for a coaster with: -Ride time of SD2000 (including lift) -Skyrush-like lift -Disney Level Theming (Expedition Everest/ Radiator Springs Racer) -SkyRush & El Toro airtime -High Speed Curves, tunnels and terrain hugging like on The Voyage & Maverick -400+' Drop -Nice Scenery -Smooth -Goes through an underwater-glass tunnel -No trims -Multiple launches -Comfy B&M Trains -Lap bars Yes, for a ride like this, I'd wait even more....
  5. Although the backwards launch seems kinda pointless, you have to admit it will still be a fun part of the ride(mostly just for the GP), Even though it does seem to kill the pacing.
  6. Anyone know where to find footage/pictures of V2's modification?
  7. I agree with the whole wood vs. steel argument, it's petty. What I was getting at was the "all wood" statement. Yes, it is a wooden coaster, just not "all wooden"-which is whats advertised
  8. Nooo, they are trying to claim Outlaw Run isn't a true wooden coaster. How Ironic that they would state that. Hades is a hybrid, meaning it is not "all-wood".
  9. ^Did a double-check on that. Thought I was seeing double Interesting video and photos on GateKeeper construction, very informing at first. Then ends with a GP statement www.marionstar.com/article/20121208/NEWS01/312080020/Cedar-Point-s-Gatekeeper-tall-fast-winged -nearly 600 pieces of steel set to be laid over a 100 day period -180 footers -1,000+ anchor bolts -Testing is set to begin in April and last for at-least a month before human riders. -Footers have been poured for the Zero-G/Inline roll. (But the same gate is still there ) EIDT: Apparently, multiple rides have their lighting packages in Yolo.....err full gear. probably due to all the wiring just laid. Glad too see they're precocious.
  10. ^ This. He would of been fired if Mr. K was still in charge.
  11. The drop has an angle of 360°, making it a full circle--however it's clearly 180° . And the drop really doesn't have any definitive steepness since it's an inversion. You'd think the steepness record would go to the Screamin' Squirrels (180°), but those actually do not "drop". 180° is moving a straight horizontal direction. Or inversions just don't count as drops. ^In these cases, they do. A drop is a drop, no-matter how you look at it. New Photos up at pointbuzz.com/Photos/Gallery.aspx?id=719, final piece of the 170' hill.

  13. Astro Express - Infinity Mall rcdb.com/9641.htm?p=39440 What is this mess of steel?
  14. 311 feet, 94mph, seems legit!
  15. That's dangerous territory. If you even mention the word "hair-time" to any MM exec, they'd pass out. Viper "looks" to be serving its purpose and an overall popular ride. But that didn't stop them from razing Log Jammer (a generally popular ride) and replacing it with the Full Throttle. Considering the trend, I can see Viper being replaced by an El Loco and another kiddy coaster.
  16. It's a good thing I'm thin So am I. I'm as skinny as a rail, and it still practically suffocated me, lol. I'll just have to see this summer. When I rode Skyrocket @ Kennywood, many were complaining about the restraints being too tight/small. I pushed those things down as far as they would go, and I still felt like I was going to fall out during those corkscrews. As long as the rides good, restraints don't really bother me. Allot of people have issues with OTSR and headbanging. It's happened to me aplenty on Mantis, it's not THAT bad, annoying---yes, but not unbearable. At-least we get a comfy B&M train
  17. This looks awesome! Thank you for taking your time and effort out to make a product Complex, yet easy-to-learn (by the looks) editor, this just looks like fun
  18. Since they don't run it at full power anymore, it's not the fastest inverted coaster either. Although many coasters loose their initial speed after a few years. Desperado clocks in at 77 mph now. This leads me to another topic. How/Why is there such a great speed difference between Diamondback(215' drop/80 mph) and Intimidator(211' drop/75 mph). Most B&M coasters fall about 3 mph short of the maximum speed they can achieve from their drop height. Anything falling from 215' can only achieve 80.2 mph. Anything falling from 211' can only achieve 79.4 mph. It's hard to believe Diamondback can achieve 80mph. I'm calling shenanigans on CF, just like how Intimidator 305 achieved 94 mph on opening day, and now is advertised at 90 mph. Complete BS, the laws of gravity didn't change over-season.
  19. This isn't in Brazil, Australia, or New Zealand. But right here in the good ol' U.S.of A! Bridge Day- Fayetteville, West Virginia. "Bridge Day is the only day of the year people are allowed to BASE jump off the bridge into the New River Gorge 876 feet (267 meters) below" -Wikipedia
  20. Raptor - Cedar Point - July 10, 2006 Not only my first looping coaster, my first big coaster. Raptor was my 3rd coaster EVER. The first two being these.... rcdb.com/315.htm rcdb.com/316.htm Raptor was like no-other. No-wonder I'm a coaster Junkie
  21. Maverick @ CP what doesn't this coaster offer?
  22. It looked the same yesterday. Hopefully, more specs will be given out on the ride. That immelmann could very well be the largest of its kind.
  23. -999mph speed limit -999' height limit -Automatic steel supports -Automatic catwalk option -Rain/Snow/Fog/Desert/Rain Forest/Dusk/Stormy etc.
